[Bug 223544] [NEW] Upgrade to hardy failed

2008-04-28 Thread Petr Ferschmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ia32-libs

I was upgrading to hardy and it failed with this:

Připravuji nahrazení ia32-libs 2.1ubuntu3 (pomocí
.../ia32-libs_2.2ubuntu10_amd64.deb) ...
Rozbaluji náhradu ia32-libs ...
lzma: /home/fers/bin/bin/jprofiler/bin/linux-x64/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by lzma)
dpkg-deb: podproces decompress vrátil chybový status 1
dpkg: chyba při zpracovávání
/var/cache/apt/archives/ia32-libs_2.2ubuntu10_amd64.deb (--unpack):
 podproces dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile vrátil chybový status 2

In /home/fers/bin/bin/jprofiler/ I have installation of JProfiler (Java
application). I assume that the ia32-libs package searches for every file named
libstrdc++.so.6 and this one is older version.
It should ignore files in my home.

I expect that the installation will not fail because of this.

[Bug 105386] Re: booting problem after upgrade

2007-04-13 Thread Petr Ferschmann
Still same.

I now have kernel 2.6.20-14-generic. I tried to remove content from /etc
/initramfs-tools/modules. And I really still have to call all the
commands (loading modules, evms_start AND mounting the root directory -
without it it returns me back to shell).

I think the real problems is in the modules loading - the IDE driver is
not loaded at all.

[Bug 105386] booting problem after upgrade

2007-04-11 Thread Petr Ferschmann
Public bug reported:

I have a Thinkpad X31 laptop. I upgraded from edgy to feisty. I am using
Lilo, LVM and XFS. After upgrade the system stopped booting.

Every time I end in initramfs and I have to write:

modprobe piix
modprobe ide-disk
evms_activate
mount /dev/evms/lvm2/Main/data /root -t xfs

first command is to load IDE driver.
Second to read partitions table from disk
Third to start LVM

I tried to add the both modprobes to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and
run update-initramfs -u but it didn't help.

[Bug 104679] Caching support in authtool

2007-04-09 Thread Petr Ferschmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: authtool

I haven't found where to sent features, so I am using this:

We are using LDAP for authentication even on laptops. We have quiet
small LDAP database ( 100MiB) without kerberos. Because laptop needs to
work even when offline or when connected to network without internet
access.

Using this in /etc/nsswitch.conf can lockup computer sometime (network
problems).
passwd: files ldap
group: files ldap

Therefore we use this list of packages: libnss-ldap nss-updatedb
(for LDAP auth we have this libpam-ccreds libpam-ldap )

in /etc/nsswitch.conf I have this:
passwd: files db
group: files db

/etc/libnss-ldap.conf is configured as usually.

Every hour I run program:
fping ldap.server nss_updatedb ldap

It downloads the LDAP database to /var/lib/misc/ every hour. The
configuration is read from this location by the NSS. The current package
version of nss_updatedb has a problem when LDAP server is not available
- therefore the fping command.

Advantage is that it is always working.

For authentication we use ccreds to locally store password and LDAP is
not available to authenticate against it.

auth [user_unknown=ignore authinfo_unavail=ignore default=done] pam_unix.so
nullok_secure
auth [authinfo_unavail=ignore success=1 default=2] pam_ldap.so use_first_pass
debug
auth [default=done] pam_ccreds.so action=validate use_first_pass
auth [default=done] pam_ccreds.so action=store use_first_pass

[Bug 27164] Re: xscreensaver won't unlock with complex pam setup

2006-09-25 Thread Petr Ferschmann
I can confirm this problem.
I use LDAP authorization with ccreds and when I don't have local account
(/etc/passwd+/etc/shadow) I can't login from screensaver.

The same configuration works great for sudo/gdm/ssh/
