[Bug 1734839] [NEW] ncmpcpp in artful fails to connect

2017-11-28 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

ncmpcpp:
  Installed: 0.7.4-1build3
  Candidate: 0.7.4-1build3
  Version table:
 *** 0.7.4-1build3 500
500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When I start ncmpcpp, I am met with the message "ncmpcpp: connection
refused", but there is no sign of this in mpd.log on the server. On my
zesty machine it works perfectly, even though it is using the same
version of the package, and both are using the exact same config file
(copied across with scp). Other mpd clients like gmpc works fine from
the artful machine.

The really weird thing is that if I launch it with 'ncmpcpp -h hostname
-p 6600' it works.

I have double- and triple-checked the config file, including rewriting
it all by hand and removing everything non-essential. I also tried
upgrading to v0.8.1 from
https://launchpad.net/~aguignard/+archive/ubuntu/ppa, but that gives the
same result.

The only thing I can think of is that something must have changed from
zesty to artful to cause this, but it's beyond me to figure out what.
Something in the dependencies (libbost?), maybe.

Should I file this upstream, or is there something else I can try? I
really want to avoid switching to another mpd client.

[Bug 1609368] Re: 'snap find' no longer lists all available snaps

2016-08-03 Thread Petter Adsen
Update: 'snap find .' works, so the immediate problem is solved. Still,
if 'apt list' can return 50k+ packages, I don't see why 'snap find'
can't return 100.

[Bug 1609368] Re: 'snap find' no longer lists all available snaps

2016-08-03 Thread Petter Adsen
As to "never what the user wanted", I beg to differ - it was _exactly_
what I wanted :) 'apt list' will list all available packages, I expected
'snap find' to behave in a similar matter.

If this feature is now gone, that is sad IMHO. I hope at least the
documentation can be updated to reflect this.

Is there anywhere else a complete list of available snaps can be found?

[Bug 1529454] [NEW] dm-tool add-nested-seat fails

2015-12-27 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

On Wily, updated daily:

petter@odin:~$ ac policy lightdm
lightdm:
  Installed: 1.16.6-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.16.6-0ubuntu1

petter@odin:~$ dm-tool add-nested-seat
Unable to add seat: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Failed: Failed to
start seat

I was hoping to get a nested X server with lightdm, but the Xephyr
windows briefly opens and then closes again. I have tried this on two
different installations of Wily with the same results. If I try to start
Xephyr manually and then start lightdm on it with 'dm-tool add-
local-x-seat' then dm-tool fails with exactly the same error message as
above.

[Bug 1525105] [NEW] yubikey login segfaults /bin/login

2015-12-11 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

I received a Yubikey 4 yesterday, and attempted to set up authentication
with it on my Wily system. After installing the necessary packages, I
ran 'dpkg-reconfigure libpam-yubico' and added my ID number and key.
When I now try to log in on a VC, I first enter my username, then I get
prompted for my Yubikey. I press the button on the key and immediately
get thrown back to a VC with a login prompt and the following message in
the log:

[1805628.239225] login[29456]: segfault at 0 ip 7f16bcb0030f sp
7f16b1d0a540 error 4 in libc-2.21.so[7f16bca84000+1c]

Logins via SSH work, however; I get prompted for the Yubikey, press the
button, enter password at the next prompt and I'm logged in. It seems
authentication methods that do not open a network connection work, since
if I edit /etc/pam.d/common-auth to use challenge-response
authentication instead it works fine. The problem is that this will not
work with a remote SSH connection as it requires hardware access.

(I tried upgrading to the packages in ppa:yubico/stable, but there was
no difference - /bin/login still segfaults. I reverted to the original
Wily packages and tried again before filing this bug.)

[Bug 1466796] [NEW] Deselects selection when "Trim Whitespace" is enabled

When both "Trim Whitespace" and "Synchronize clipboards" are enabled in

[Bug 1447556] Re: AMD radeon hangs/crashes

2015-05-05 Thread Petter Adsen
Look, guys - no offense intended, but I'm just not going to invest that
amount of time in tracking down which commit causes/fixes a bug when I
can just run an unofficial kernel.

If anyone else gets bitten by this and have to run an official Ubuntu-
supplied kernel then I might consider doing it, but since it seems only
I am affected I won't bother. I suggest you close this.

[Bug 1447556] [NEW] AMD radeon hangs/crashes

2015-04-23 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 3.19.0-15.15-generic 3.19.3

On boot, there are error messages from the radeon driver (see dmesg
output), and lightdm fails to start the X server - it simply hangs
without errors. Logging in on the console and running startx works, but
if the screen saver kicks in, the X server hangs again and needs to be
manually killed and restarted.

This started happening after one of the two latest kernel upgrades on
vivid, I didn't reboot after the -14 update, so I don't know whether
that or -15 caused this.

Please contact me If further information is needed, I can't attach more than
one file.

[Bug 1393842] Re: libvirt does not grant qemu-guest-agent channel perms

2015-04-09 Thread Petter Adsen
Do a "mkdir -p /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/channel/target/" - that should fix
it. It should have been created on install, but wasn't, and I guess the
package update doesn't create the directory. You might also make sure
that owner and group are set correctly, here they are "libvirt-qemu" and
"kvm", respectively.

[Bug 1432644] Re: VM permanently tries to read /dev/shm/lttng-ust-wait-5

2015-04-02 Thread Petter Adsen
I don't understand how this is going to help, as I don't have/use ceph.
Anyway, the problem still exists. Is there a way to completely disable
apparmor for libvirt temporarily, until a fix can be found, as I
*really* need it to work? Of course I could revert to 14.10, but I am
trying to help find bugs in 15.04, so that's really not an option.

[Bug 1435301] [NEW] virt-manager Recommends libvirt-daemon-system, which doesn't exist in Ubuntu

2015-03-23 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1434999] [NEW] Creating a new VM in virt-manager fails because of apparmor permissions

2015-03-22 Thread Petter Adsen
Public bug reported:

When creating a new VM, it fails because of insufficient permissions.
Adding permissions for /dev/shm/lttng-ust-wait-5 and
/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/channel/target to /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions
/libvirt-qemu seems to solve it, although there are still DENIED
messages in the logs:

[ +0,208881] audit: type=1400 audit(1427028845.637:313): apparmor="DENIED"
operation="open" profile="/usr/lib/libvirt/virt-aa-helper"

name="/dev/shm/lttng-ust-wait-5" pid=9562 comm="virt-aa-helper"

I know literally nothing about apparmor, but I hope someone who does can
look into this and fix it properly before release of 15.04. Please
contact me if any more information is needed, I will be happy to help as
much as I can.
