[Bug 522299] Re: Nepomuk-based search returns no results

2010-02-17 Thread Philip Falkner
Now that kdebase-runtime depends on shared-desktop-ontologies in lucid,
everything seems to be working (though rebuilding the nepomuk database
may be necessary for people running lucid before s-d-o was installed).
Should this bug be marked fixed?

[Bug 523266] [NEW] Incorrect translation in en_CA

2010-02-17 Thread Philip Falkner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

There are broken translations of en_CA in amarok. The status bar and
tooltip both show _: track by artist on album instead of the actual
track name, artist name, and album name.

The error probably stems from the following translations:
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/amarok/+pots/amarok/en_CA/1527/+translate
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/amarok/+pots/amarok/en_CA/1528/+translate
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/amarok/+pots/amarok/en_CA/1529/+translate

The correct translation is already suggested on each of those pages.

[Bug 522299] [NEW] Nepomuk-based search returns no results

2010-02-15 Thread Philip Falkner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dolphin

Running Kubuntu Lucid, the search toolbar in dolphin always gives no
results to any search term. KRunner, on the other hand, works fine.

Alvaro Manuel Recio Perez reported in KDE bug 222687
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222687#c21) that installing the
shared-desktop-ontologies package made dolphin's search work. I
installed it, let nepomuk recreate its database from scratch, and sure
enough dolphin search worked properly next login.

I think shared-desktop-ontologies should be installed by default. It's
already in main, already a build dependency of KDE, isn't a large
package, and it would let dolphin search work out of the box.

[Bug 503610] [NEW] kdm doesn't start due to upstart/hal dependency

2010-01-05 Thread Philip Falkner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

The kdm Upstart job starts on started hal, but hal is no longer an
Upstart job. Removing that line from /etc/init/kdm.conf makes kdm start
again.

Is there any reason why kdm would need hal, now that X doesn't?

[Bug 446425] [NEW] artifacts with kwin-compositing

2009-10-08 Thread Philip Falkner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Starting today, Oct 8, with Kwin compositing active, I get 1-pixel wide
artifacts all over the screen. When a window disappears, the very
right-most and bottom-most lines of it remain. Sometimes when scrolling
in Konqueror, a line from somewhere else in the web page will stick at
the bottom of the web view (above the status bar). The bouncy cursor
icon when launching a new application leaves bits of itself behind.

All of these artifacts disappear when that part of the screen is
repainted (e.g. moving a window over the area, activating the present
windows effect).

Didn't happen before rebooting this morning, so I'm suspecting mesa
7.6.0.

[Bug 208792] [NEW] pm-utils doesn't call anacron

2008-03-29 Thread Philip Falkner
Public bug reported:

pm-utils in hardy doesn't stop anacron on battery/sleep, or start it on
ac/resume. Because of this, cron.{daily, weekly, monthly} events are
often missed.

This is a regression from previous Ubuntu releases using acpi-support,
which called anacron properly.

Debian has a wishlist bug about this (469135), but it's more important
than that for Ubuntu since it worked in previous releases.

[Bug 135084] Re: Kicker adds _: Entries in K-menu: to certain programs

2007-09-29 Thread Philip Falkner
I don't have either of those files, and I get the _: stuff in the K-Menu
if I use LANG=en_CA.UTF-8. Changing to LANG=en_US.UTF-8 makes it go
away.

BUT, this isn't restricted to the K-menu! If I start e.g. KTorrent with en_CA,
the first two entries in both the Downloads menu and a right-click menu on a
torrent are
  _: to start Start
  _: to stop Stop

This is an install upgraded from Feisty; I've not yet confirmed on a
live CD or fresh install.

[Bug 135084] Re: Kicker adds _: Entries in K-menu: to certain programs

2007-09-29 Thread Philip Falkner
Confirmed on kubuntu gutsy beta desktop cd. Set LANG to en_CA.UTF-8,
kill and reload kicker, and the k-menu should now be wrong. Also works
with ktorrent, possibly other programs.

[Bug 90169] Re: SecondLife, GL.O.B.S. and other GL apps have a Black Window on Radeon drivers - Patch available

2007-03-16 Thread Philip Falkner
Please include this patch in Feisty. I'm developing the compositing
version of KWin in KDE, and it simply does not work with hardware
acceleration (r200) without this patch.

I've verified that this patch does fix the problem, and doesn't appear
to cause any other problems.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10192 is the radeon/r200
version of the previous freedesktop bug.

Also, note that the fixes have been committed upstream:

[Bug 54742] Broken symlinks in kde-guidance-0.6.7-3ubuntu1

2006-07-31 Thread Philip Falkner
Public bug reported:

All the symlinks kde-guidance puts in /usr/bin point to the wrong
locations, meaning that much of kde-guidance simply doesn't work.

For example, /usr/bin/displayconfig points to ../usr/share/python-
support/kde-guidance/displayconfig.py which resolves to /usr/usr/share
/python-support/kde-guidance/displayconfig.py. It should only have
one /usr.

This is true for serviceconfig, userconfig, mountconfig, displayconfig,
and displayconfig-restore.

This is on a dapper-edgy upgrade.

** Affects: kde-guidance (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed
