Please, no elisa-coherence. The issue here is that one import is wrong
in the discogs plugin. Instead of:

from coherence.extern.et import parse_xml

it should be:

from elisa.extern.coherence.et import parse_xml

Re: [Bug 201722] Re: Missing You Tube plugin

2008-03-13 Thread Philippe Normand
 Yup.

The Flickr plugin works with Hardys repo.

The You Tube plugin works with SVN

Everything is broken with Hardys Fluendo packages :)

the Fluendo hardy packages are not up-to-date because the 0.3.5 release
will be in Hardy soon enough, no need for duplicate work.

I don understand why Debian ( upstream probably causes this) must
 change packages.

And I don't understand your sentence. What do you mean by change
packages

elisa-extra is used from Fluendo and thats upstream.

Tons with other errors. No GUI for settings and this will for sure make it
 impossible for newbies.

The first run manual must be included without any GUI for settings.

 Typical unstable application:)

This bug is about non-working Youtube. Did you get it working or not?

If you have other issues to discuss with the Elisa team please do so via
the bugtracker you'll find at:

https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac

or the mailing list.

The team is already aware of the issues you mention above (see the list
of tickets on our trac) about the UI for settings.

Now if you find Elisa unstable, don't use it or report proper bugs and
contribute to the project, this is what open-source is about, among
others things. I personally use that software at home in production,
there are issues, yes, but we always work and do our best to improve it.

[Bug 201204] [NEW] pycentral doesn't remove empty directories when upgrading a package

2008-03-11 Thread Philippe Normand
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-central

pycentral 0.5.63ubuntu1 doesn't correctly upgrade packages. If my
package provides an egg-info with package version (like foo-0.4.5.egg-
info and foo-0.4.6.egg-info in new package version), the foo-0.4.5.egg-
info remains (but is empty). That directory should be removed as the use
of 2 egg-info directories can confuse setuptools/pkg_resources.

Removing the package and installing the new version works but a simple
package upgrade fails.

The comments above (about python 2.5 dependencies) have been taken in account.

The gusty packages there need an update too, please don't bother about
them, I think the most interesting one for you are the Hardy ones :)

Elisa fails to load. It say it detected compiz (even with metacity as running
 WM), and hides all windows.
After that, no reponse. I have a debuglog attached (DEBUG=5).

I am running an up-to-date Ubuntu Hardy distro.
I only did not install python-twill, as the required version was not available

This might be due to a bug in the XCB library, used by Pigment... Can
you download and locally compile Pigment sources? Then try one of the
pigment example and tell me if it works or not.

All OpenGL applications are fragile when running in a Compiz
environment. Try glxgears for instance. AFAIK there are already some
bugs reported to Compiz dev team... The Elisa team can do nothing about
it, the only thing we do currently to minimize the issues is to
minimize the active windows when Compiz is detected.

2007-10-09 Thread Philippe Normand
Public bug reported:

This bug is created for Feature Freeze Exception, to request that
the pigment library be updated from 0.3.1 to 0.3.2. This include:

  libpigment0.3-1
  libpigment0.3-dev
  python-pigment

The new versions of these packages will soon be in debian
unstable. They are already updated in pkg-gstreamer svn. I
provide packages here:

deb http://elisa.fluendo.com gutsy main
deb-src http://elisa.fluendo.com gutsy main

It's important to get this new upstream version in Gutsy because
it fixes quite a few important bugs:

crashers:

- https://code.fluendo.com/pigment/trac/ticket/154
- https://code.fluendo.com/pigment/trac/ticket/158

memory leaks:

- https://code.fluendo.com/pigment/trac/ticket/165

This is also important because it much improves the behavior of
the elisa package (for which I'll request a UVF as well).

Regards,
Philippe

[Bug 150929] Elisa needs update to 0.3.2

2007-10-09 Thread Philippe Normand
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: elisa

This bug is created for Feature Freeze Exception, to request that
the elisa package be updated from 0.3.1 to 0.3.2.

provide packages here:

deb http://elisa.fluendo.com gutsy main
deb-src http://elisa.fluendo.com gutsy main

It's important to get this new upstream version in Gutsy because
it fixes more than 120 bugs and adds some interesting plugins making elisa more
interoperable with GNOME applications like F-Spot and Rhythmbox. The most
critical bugs fixed in that upstream release are:

crashers

- https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac/ticket/648
- https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac/ticket/580

- https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac/ticket/258

Extract from NEWS file listing new features:

- menus reorganized (no DVD icon in main menu, it's now
  in video menu for example)
- XDG-user-dirs support
- many memory usage improvements
- localization support (english, catalan, spanish, german,
  italian, french so far)
- Elisa can now be extended to support new GStreamer based players (as plugins)
- Mouse and touchscreen support in the default frontend
- many frontend improvements (slideshow, player dock, new theme)
- F-Spot plugin
- Shoutcast plugin
- Stage6 plugin
- Improved Flickr plugin
- Rhythmbox plugin (not enabled by default)
- a plugin to list live tv mms streams (not enabled by default)

This bug depends on

Elisa 0.3.2 doesn't work with Pigment 0.3.1.

[Bug 150929] Re: Elisa needs update to 0.3.2

2007-10-09 Thread Philippe Normand
Most members of the core Elisa team work on Ubuntu feisty and gutsy, we
have 2 main testing procedures.

- https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac/wiki/Testing which is for manual testing
- http://build.fluendo.net:8210/ which lists the build status of Elisa on
various distros and platforms. We don't have a gutsy slave yet but the unittests
  pass fine, we checked that.

More generally Elisa 0.3.2 is far more reliable than Elisa 0.3.1. Fixing more
than 120 bugs in a release cycle is not that bad IMHO :)
The end-user will totally benefit from that upgrade, we already had good
feedback from the user community since 0.3.2 release.

[Bug 150893] Re: Pigment needs update to 0.3.2 (from 0.3.1)

2007-10-09 Thread Philippe Normand
During the 0.3.2 release cycle the Pigment developers mainly focused on:

- memory management issues
- performance issues
- and mouse/touchscreen support
- more unittests

These points all together allowed us to run Elisa on a UMPC (Samsung Q1)
running Gutsy and generally improve Elisa as it heavily depends on
Pigment for all the UI operations.

You can see the build status of Pigment there:
http://build.fluendo.net:8220/

Pigment-based applications will now be far more reliable, we tracked
quite a few segfaults on machines using various hardware (graphics
cards) and video drivers.

[Bug 128205] Re: import python-coherence depends from Debian

2007-10-02 Thread Philippe Normand
That's actually not a bug in Coherence, but in Rhythmbox. See
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469852
We really need python-coherence in Gutsy ASAP, as the other people on that bug
are asking... I see no critical bug in Coherence right now which prevents its
inclusion in Gutsy.
