[Bug 1875469] [NEW] Touch pad unresponsive

2020-04-27 Thread Nick Poindexter
Public bug reported:

I have purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 7 Slim 15 with lenovo model number
82AD0001US and the touch pad does not work, nor does the clicking. It
doesn't appear to be registering as a device. I have checked with the
windows installation that the physical device does work. This with the
install of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

[Bug 1020660] Re: openbox unshades a window with one click

Updating key bindings seems to have made this problem go away. Status
changed to Invalid.

[Bug 1020660] [NEW] openbox unshades a window with one click

2012-07-03 Thread Tom Poindexter
Public bug reported:

Prior to 12.04, a window that was previously shaded ("rolled up") by
clicking twice on the title bar would also require two mouse clicks to
unshade ("roll down") the window. Since upgrading to 12.04, a single
click on a shaded window will unshade the window. This make it
difficult to re-position the shaded title bar. There is a work-around -
right click on the the title bar, select "Move" will allow the title bar
to be re-positioned. However, this requires extra step, and is
inconsistent with the action that shaded the window in the first place.

In my "Preferences -. Openbox Configuation Manager" settings, tab
"Mouse", I have selected "Double click on the titlebar: Shades the
window" selected.

[Bug 777439] [NEW] Machine fails to restart or shutdown

2011-05-04 Thread Tom Poindexter
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded from 10.11 to 11.04, and now a 'restart' or 'shutdown' from the
GNOME desktop fails to fully restart or shutdown.
After the Xserver is shutdown, the last two console messages are:

deactivating swap ...  [ OK ]
unmounting weak filesystems ...

Seems like the restart/shutdown hangs on the 'unmounting weak
filesystems'

[Bug 777407] [NEW] Xorg freeze after Natty update - NVIDIA driver

2011-05-04 Thread Tom Poindexter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have been running 10.04 and 10.10 without problems, but upgrading to
11.04 caused the X server to fail to start. I tried several attempts to
re-install the kernel (causing recompile of the NVIDIA driver) with no
luck. I was able to start X by using the VESA driver. I was finally
able to downgrade to version 173 (System -> Administration -> Additional
Drivers), activating version 173, and copying a backed up verison of
xorg.conf using the 'nvida' dirver.

[Bug 683476] [NEW] Software raid intermittently fails to start at boot time

2010-11-30 Thread Tom Poindexter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: upstart

This problem began in 10.04, and continues to be a problem in 10.10

I have a software raid configuration, from /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf:

# definitions of existing MD arrays
ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=2
UUID=cc4f61b6:e18d4f12:9b71af0b:b5f1b4e8
ARRAY /dev/md1 level=raid1 num-devices=2
UUID=6f28c043:b295a219:1a6d1efe:10bfaf94

which are mounted, from /etc/fstab:

# /dev/md1
UUID=88fcde7d-3cbb-4dfa-b0d9-f93ca9a5b3cd /extramdext3relatime
  0   2
# /dev/md0
UUID=f033d1d3-4643-42d5-9c64-05df46412129 /home   ext3relatime
  0   2

During system boot (about 50% of the time) one or both of the raid devices are
not found, and
thus, the mount fails. The situation will often correct itself on a subsequent
power-off/power-on or
system reset.

I have this system for several years, and first installed 7.10 on it, with the
same software
raid configuration, and upgraded to each Ubuntu release. I had no problems
with software
raid failing to start until 10.04 was installed.

I have found a work around that cures the symptom. In /etc/init/mountall.conf
I have added:

   mdadm --assemble --scan

just before the command "exec mountall ."

I am guessing that this is an 'upstart' problem.

See line 38:

--/etc/int/mountall.conf-

Public bug reported:

Just a tiny nuisance, nothing really, but in the German localisations of both
Xubuntu 6.10 and 7.04 in Einstellungen > Kalendereinstellungen, "Kalender" is
spelled wrongly "Kalander".
Is this the right place to report?
Thanks.

[Bug 96268] Re: microphone doesn't work for recording (feisty)

2007-03-30 Thread Poindexter
I use Xubuntu 6.10 with Intel 82801AA-ICH sound chip and my microphone
doesn't work either -- it's just dead. I have tried fiddling with the
settings.

[Bug 90327] Re: evolution-data-server crashes after XFCE upgrade

OK, thanks, Mark!
BTW I only wrote in because the crash screen asked me to report the bug.

[Bug 90327] Re: evolution-data-server crashes after XFCE upgrade

2007-03-07 Thread Poindexter
Hello.
***
@Mark:
I installed Xubuntu 6.10 which comes with Xfce 3.9.x, then upgraded to Xfce 4.0
from deb http://ubuntu.tolero.org/ edgy xfce-4-4-0.
I had Evolution 2.8.1 installed previously, no problem, since I upgraded Xfce
the desktop starts with the error message that
/user/libexec/evolution-data-server-1.8 has crashed and that I should report
this error. This happens regularly, on about every second or third bootup.
Evolution nevertheless works fine.
***
@Sebastien:  OK, wilco (will cooperate).
