[Bug 274570] [NEW] I can not mounting partition /boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-19-server I have a trouble with kernel 2.6.24 from Ubuntu 8.04.1 (both 2.6.24-18 and 2.6.24-19) on my server - HP proliant DL380 G5. RAID bus controller: Hewlett-Packard Company Smart Array Controller (rev 03) The problem is that the kernel cannot mount the partition /boot while booting the OS. The system reports that the filesystem is blocked, but it should not be blocked. If I try to mount the partition manually I get the following message: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# mount /boot mount: /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 already mounted or /boot busy [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# modinfo cciss modinfo: could not open cciss: No such device I thought that the other software is guilty, but I tried to mount this partition from initramfs console and also has got the same result. After loading of the earlier version of the kernel, everything worked fine. I think that the error is either in the cciss driver or in block drive layer. The disk is partitioned into one primary ext3 filesystem and one logical lvm volume containing all other ext3 volumes. Work version of kernel is 2.6.18 and cciss driver is 3.6.10. On broken kernel version is 2.6.24-19 and cciss is 3.6.14. I tried to rebuild good kernel (2.6.18) with newer cciss driver(3.6.18-17) and have good result, the kernel works fine. Then I tried to rebuild the same kernel with the cciss 3.6.14, but not any partition was mounted, so I consider the driver is broken. I tried to rebuild the broken kernel with other versions of cciss drivers, but unsuccessfully due to compilation errors. arch amd64 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cciss fs kernel -- I can not mounting partition /boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274570 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
