[Bug 1624032] [NEW] Installation of ubuntu failed to install grub2
Public bug reported: I have an Alienware and I am trying to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 10. Initially i had secure boot off and BIOS in UEFI. Ubuntu gave me a black screen once i hit install ubuntu on the boot loader. Then I changed the options and added nomodeset to the splash screen.Ubuntu installation started but however failed during the installation of the grub saying "failed to install grub-efi to target". Tried in secure boot mode on and also off. Please advise. It is getting critical. [Bug 823136] Re: Oneiric Ocelot, Alpha 3 - Still the display graphics on Intel i865GvHZ is not appealing (sometimes I see incomplete windows).
Found the same graphics issue with launcher and the main application panel (top). Sometimes launcher items' tool tip hovers the main application panel and leaves it rendered incompletely. This info may help in resolving the graphics issues on Intel 8xx boards from all view points. [Bug 62676] Re: [edgy] splash screen on startup needs to give feedback
If you remove the quiet option from the line # defoptions=quiet splash in /boot/grub/menu.lst and run update-grub, the startup details are displayed in the usplash screen. After doing this, I am able to get the messages on the usplash screen as it was appearing in the previous usplash version. -- [edgy] splash screen on startup needs to give feedback https://launchpad.net/bugs/62676 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
