After suspending the system, I can't power the laptop on any more. I
have to remove the battery from the laptop and insert it again.
Otherwise the laptop will not power up. The power button just blinks.

if there is any further testing or debugging needed I am perfectly
willing to do so.

[Bug 1281019] [NEW] Brightness controls are not working nvidia-319 and nvidia-331

2014-02-17 Thread Priyantha Bleeker
Public bug reported:

Brightness controls are not working when the binary Nvidia drivers with
version 319 or higher(for example 331).

This running on my HP EliteBook 8560w with a Nvidia Quadro 2000M and a
HP DreamColor2 screen.

The Brightness keys (FN+F9 and FN+FN10) are doing 'something' in the
right corner of the screen the brightness control window does show-up
and changes, but the brightness of the screen itself does not.

This is a bug which is a long standing one, and Nvidia seems to ignore it :(
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/539462/linux/-nvidia-319-12-brightness-controls-not-working-on-laptop-ubuntu-13-03-/2/
There is the bugreport at the official Nvidia forums.
Also another bugreport here on Launchpad can be found here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319/+bug/1241745

Would be great if Nvidia did put some effort in this!

Do you have any update on this ?
This is now already a very long time ago, and it would be nice if Nvidia made
some effort for this.

Re: [Bug 1241745] Re: [regression] Changing the screen brightness does not work anymore in 319.xx

2013-11-26 Thread Priyantha Bleeker
It would be great if the developers from NVIDIA would give this
show-stopping bug a high-priority for their first next driver release.
This makes it just unbearable to use my Laptop if I would like to use a
newer driver, which does posses some quite big performance gains which I
would love to take profit from.

2013/11/26 Daniel Dadap dda...@nvidia.com

The problem described in this bug is due to a confirmed regression in
the NVIDIA driver. If you are seeing a similar symptom on Intel, that
should probably be tracked in a separate bug.

2010-02-08 Thread Priyantha Bleeker
Same problem here on my HP Elitebook 8530W. This with a Hitachi
HTS723225L9A360 built-in. The program states that there are 65543 bad
sectors. That's of course not true. I've tested it with the HP Disk
Check(in the Bios) and with the smartmontools.
