[Bug 2065346] [NEW] nmtui and nmcli doesn't read wifi password from config files

2024-05-09 Thread QkiZ
Public bug reported:

When using KDE Network Manager I can connect to wifi networks without problems.
The problem appears when I want to connect to saved networks by tools like
nmtui and nmcli. Both these tools can see saved networks but when I want to
connect to these networks nmtui asks for a password and nmcli displays an error
that the password isn't in config files.
How to reproduce this problem:
1. Add network in Network Manager by GUI (KDE or Gnome).
2. Switch to virtual console (ctrl+alt+fx)
3. Use nmtui to connect to the saved network or use nmcli connection up
command.

[Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point

2024-04-18 Thread QkiZ
It is unacceptable that AP can crash the Wi-Fi driver. Any other devices in the
network work fine. Only one specific laptop with AX201 has a problem.
I wanted to check if the new version of Kubuntu resolved the issue. I
downloaded Kubuntu 24.04 beta and ran it from a USB stick. The problem has gone
on 24.04 but this may be by the new kernel, 6.8 version.
Anyway for now I will work with a workaround that works, it is slower but
stable. After 24.04 release and system upgrade, I can remove the workaround and
use full bandwidth.

[Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point

2024-04-16 Thread QkiZ
I have the same error but different firmware used on iwlwifi module.
It's the same network card. It crashes in a few minutes of use and
reveals a slow network connection and packet drops. I can't even test
network speed by speedtest.net because the test is ending with an error.
Ubuntu 23.10 here.

[Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point

2024-04-14 Thread QkiZ
It's not only when using wrong password. Even if a password is good and
the network is connected hardware restart is requested. When this error
appears packets are dropped and the network speed slows down. As a
workaround you can add

options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

to /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf file. This slows network to 54MBit/s but
it is stable, with no packet drops and hardware reset.

[Bug 1576303] Re: Needs fontconfig integration

2020-04-25 Thread QkiZ
Workaround for this issue:
(in apps section)
apps:
  some_app:
command: some_app
environment:
  XDG_DATA_HOME: $SNAP/usr/share
  FONTCONFIG_PATH: $SNAP/etc/fonts/conf.d
  FONTCONFIG_FILE: $SNAP/etc/fonts/fonts.conf

Of course this only works in devmode. After switching to strict mode
program in snap ends with error that it can't reach
/etc/fonts/fonts.conf file. I think should be resolved by adding
interface.

2020-04-25 Thread QkiZ
Snapcraft applications should use their own fontconfig files, not from
host system because of compatibility issues. I made a snap for
application that is no longer in repositories. My host OS is 20.04 and
snap base OS is 18.04. This causes incompatibilities between snaps and
system.

[Bug 1767787] [NEW] prime-select doesn't switch to nvidia after reboot

2018-04-29 Thread QkiZ
Public bug reported:

After sudo prime-select nvidia, recreate new initramfs and reboot I still land
on Gnome using Intel gfx card. I have color LED which provides me information
about which card is used. When I check which mode is selected with sudo
prime-select query I see nvidia but when I check which card is really used with
glxheads I see Intel.
For the true switch I need log off from Gnome, switch to virtual console and
type two commands:
sudo modprobe nvidia
sudo systemctl restart display-manager.service
After these two commands, I'm able to use Nvidia gfx card under Gnome.
In my personal opinion, this solution with switching between cards through
initramfs and reboot is a huge step back in the usability of Ubuntu. The
previous solution with alternatives was much much better for end user.

[Bug 1684266] [NEW] LightDM freezes when laptop is on battery

2017-04-19 Thread QkiZ
Public bug reported:

This problem was not happen on 16.10, it's happen on 17.04. My laptop is MSI
GP60 2PE. It has 4th gen i7 Haswell processor with integrated gfx and Nvidia
840M gfx card (optimus).
When laptop is on AC power everything is working ok. But when is working on
battery few seconds after password was typed and confirmed by enter key LightDM
freezes. I started investigate what is wrong. First I looked at processes and I
saw that glxinfo is utilizing one core at 100%. Glxinfo was started by
/bin/bash /usr/sbin/lightdm-session /usr/lib/gnome-session/run-systemd-session
ubuntu-session.target command.
Problem appears on battery so first suspect is laptop-tools settings. I turned
off all settings in /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d directory config files by setting 0
as value of main variable that switch on/off feature. With trial and error
method I found that CONTROL_RUNTIME_AUTOSUSPEND=1 from
/etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/runtime-pm.conf causes LightDM freeze. I think that is
related to second gfx card (Nvidia). This freeze is permanent, I can't kill
glxinfo, restarting LightDM freezes virtual consoles, reboot cant be done
because system cant kill glxinfo. Only magic SysRq SUB is working. There is
nothing interesting in logs, no errors.

I always enable proposed and never break my system. In this case I have
disable secure boot to time when shim-signed was published in repo. When

[Bug 1639546] [NEW] Problem with sigature verification

2016-11-06 Thread QkiZ
Public bug reported:

After updating following packages system can't boot with secureboot
enabled:

shim from 0.9+1465500757.14a5905.is.0.8-0ubuntu3 to
0.9+1474479173.6c180c6-0ubuntu1
grub-efi-amd64 from 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11 to 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11.1
grub-efi-amd64-signed from 1.74+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11 to
1.74.1+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11.1
grub2-common from 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11 to 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11.1
grub-efi-amd64-bin from 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11 to 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11.1
grub-common from 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11 to 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11.1

Additionally when this update is performed shim-signed is uninstalled
(dependency not met). After manual changing package version requirements
in shim-signed package to met shim package dependency and install
modified shim-signed package system still not boot in secureboot. That
means the problem is in one of new version of these packages:

shim
grub-efi-amd64
grub-efi-amd64-signed
grub2-common
grub-efi-amd64-bin
grub-common

When I reverted changes to:

shim 0.9+1465500757.14a5905.is.0.8-0ubuntu3
grub-efi-amd64 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11
grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.74+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11
grub2-common 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11
grub-efi-amd64-bin 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11
grub-common 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu11
shim-signed 1.21.3+0.9+1465500757.14a5905.is.0.8-0ubuntu3

everything back to normal, system boot with secureboot enabled.

[Bug 1636395] [NEW] dnsmasq not working with OpenVPN

2016-10-25 Thread QkiZ
Public bug reported:

I'm using OpenVPN configured with Network Manager. My VPN have a DNS
server configured by OpenVPN and config pushed by it while connecting.
This server is not registered by dnsmasq so domain names are not
resolved but pinging by IP address works. When I test name resolving by
pointing to DNS server (172.16.1.1) from VPN provider it's works. For

Problem is related to package apt-xapian-index. When I downloaded same
package but from Debian repo and install it, after clearing /var/cache
/apt-xapian-index and /var/lib/apt/lists/ I started update-apt-xapian-

[Bug 1592135] [NEW] Plymouth doesn't asks for password or cache it

2016-06-13 Thread QkiZ
Public bug reported:

I have two disk with partitions encrypted with LUKS. On first disk I have
system partition, mounted in /. On second is /home. Both are encrypted with
same password. When console-setup-linux, console-setup, keyboard-configuration
is in 1.108ubuntu15 version everything works ok. When I power on computer first
I got GRUB, then Plymouth asks for password for first disk (system one), then
it cache password and using it when cryptsetup asks for it when trying to mount
/home. I have to enter password only once.
When I upgrade console-setup-linux, console-setup, keyboard-configuration to
1.108ubuntu15.1 version Plymouth asks me for password and after few seconds of
starting system it stops. When I press F2 key I see black screen. Plymouth
don't provide automatically cached password or asks again for it on second
disk. When I turn off Plymouth in GRUB system asks me in console for password
for first and second disk. Then system is booting to end normally.

[Bug 1528139] Re: serialize_profile_from_old_profile() crash if file contains multiple profiles

2016-02-21 Thread QkiZ
I have question:
In logs I see entries like

apparmor="ALLOWED" operation="file_inherit"
profile="/usr/sbin/apache2//DEFAULT_URI//null-d5c" name="/dev/null"  comm="sh"
requested_mask="w" denied_mask="w" fsuid=33 ouid=0
or
apparmor="ALLOWED" operation="file_inherit"
profile="/usr/sbin/apache2//DEFAULT_URI//null-d5c//null-d5d" name="/dev/null"
comm="sendmail" requested_mask="w" denied_mask="w" fsuid=33 ouid=0

but there is no such profile like /usr/sbin/apache2//DEFAULT_URI//null-d5c.
Why this subprofiles (I don't know how to name this) appears in logs?

[Bug 1207831] Re: jackd 2 64 bit does not correclty handle 32 bit clients

It's problem with 64bit version in Ubuntu. When I added KXStudio
repositories and install Jack from that repo problem disappears.

[Bug 1509654] Re: BTRFS is completly unusable on 15.10

2016-01-18 Thread QkiZ
In this version of Ubuntu BTRFS change mount method. If you mount BTRFS
volume without any options it mounts in default subvol, not in root. If
I want to get root of volume or any other subvolume I must use subvol
mount option.

[Bug 1528778] Re: aa-logprof doesn't support unix rules/events

2015-12-23 Thread QkiZ
Yup, aa-logprof doesn't recognize unix rules and events. If I add
manually this rules, after next aa-logprof running and answering
questions, all added unix rules are deleted from profile files.

I send you kern.log file on email.
