[Bug 2065346] [NEW] nmtui and nmcli doesn't read wifi password from config files
Public bug reported: When using KDE Network Manager I can connect to wifi networks without problems. The problem appears when I want to connect to saved networks by tools like nmtui and nmcli. Both these tools can see saved networks but when I want to connect to these networks nmtui asks for a password and nmcli displays an error that the password isn't in config files. How to reproduce this problem: 1. Add network in Network Manager by GUI (KDE or Gnome). 2. Switch to virtual console (ctrl+alt+fx) 3. Use nmtui to connect to the saved network or use nmcli connection up command. [Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point
It is unacceptable that AP can crash the Wi-Fi driver. Any other devices in the network work fine. Only one specific laptop with AX201 has a problem. I wanted to check if the new version of Kubuntu resolved the issue. I downloaded Kubuntu 24.04 beta and ran it from a USB stick. The problem has gone on 24.04 but this may be by the new kernel, 6.8 version. Anyway for now I will work with a workaround that works, it is slower but stable. After 24.04 release and system upgrade, I can remove the workaround and use full bandwidth. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060193 Title: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2060193/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point
I have the same error but different firmware used on iwlwifi module. It's the same network card. It crashes in a few minutes of use and reveals a slow network connection and packet drops. I can't even test network speed by speedtest.net because the test is ending with an error. [Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point
It's not only when using wrong password. Even if a password is good and the network is connected hardware restart is requested. When this error appears packets are dropped and the network speed slows down. As a workaround you can add options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf file. This slows network to 54MBit/s but it is stable, with no packet drops and hardware reset.

[Bug 1684266] [NEW] LightDM freezes when laptop is on battery
Public bug reported: This problem was not happen on 16.10, it's happen on 17.04. My laptop is MSI GP60 2PE. It has 4th gen i7 Haswell processor with integrated gfx and Nvidia 840M gfx card (optimus). When laptop is on AC power everything is working ok. But when is working on battery few seconds after password was typed and confirmed by enter key LightDM freezes. I started investigate what is wrong. First I looked at processes and I saw that glxinfo is utilizing one core at 100%. Glxinfo was started by /bin/bash /usr/sbin/lightdm-session /usr/lib/gnome-session/run-systemd-session ubuntu-session.target command. Problem appears on battery so first suspect is laptop-tools settings. I turned off all settings in /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d directory config files by setting 0 as value of main variable that switch on/off feature. With trial and error method I found that CONTROL_RUNTIME_AUTOSUSPEND=1 from /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/runtime-pm.conf causes LightDM freeze. I think that is related to second gfx card (Nvidia). This freeze is permanent, I can't kill glxinfo, restarting LightDM freezes virtual consoles, reboot cant be done because system cant kill glxinfo. Only magic SysRq SUB is working. There is nothing interesting in logs, no errors. [Bug 1592135] [NEW] Plymouth doesn't asks for password or cache it
Public bug reported: I have two disk with partitions encrypted with LUKS. On first disk I have system partition, mounted in /. On second is /home. Both are encrypted with same password. When console-setup-linux, console-setup, keyboard-configuration is in 1.108ubuntu15 version everything works ok. When I power on computer first I got GRUB, then Plymouth asks for password for first disk (system one), then it cache password and using it when cryptsetup asks for it when trying to mount /home. I have to enter password only once. When I upgrade console-setup-linux, console-setup, keyboard-configuration to 1.108ubuntu15.1 version Plymouth asks me for password and after few seconds of starting system it stops. When I press F2 key I see black screen. Plymouth don't provide automatically cached password or asks again for it on second disk. When I turn off Plymouth in GRUB system asks me in console for password for first and second disk. Then system is booting to end normally.
