[Bug 1254263] Re: Menubar not displayed with some documents
Because of the number of bugs Evince has, and the fact all my bug reports are getting closed without even being looked at, I switched to a different PDF viewer that is better supported, so I really can't tell whether this problem still exists. [Bug 1254263] [NEW] Menubar not displayed with some documents
Public bug reported: I'm using Xubuntu 13.10 with Evince 3.10.2 (same bug with 3.10.3). With most documents I open, evince correctly shows the toolbar/menubar/whatever you call it now, so I can access the menus and, for example, print the document. [Bug 1210253] Re: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined
I can still see the contradictory code in horizon/__init__.py. Should that be fixed too? I mean, if we decide that we do require Dashboard, Panel and PanelGroup, then maybe we should remove the try-except and warnings? We have also run into this problem with our installations. We have over 300 workstations at our university, all have CIFS-mounted home directories. [Bug 115898] Re: lost support for sm3840 family scanners
Yes, the scanning utilities still can't see my scanner, in addition, just copying the .so library and replacing the symlink to it no longer works -- I guess the versions are too different now to use each other's libraries. [Bug 115898] lost support for sm3840 family scanners
Public bug reported: I own a Mustek ScanMaster 3830 scanner. It worked fine, out-of-the-box, with both Dapper and Edgy. However, it stopped working in Feisty. It just returns following message: scanimage: open of device sm3840:libusb:001:004 failed: Access to resource has been denied Further investigation revealed, that this family of scanners is not supported by the Sane project. Instead, someone reverse-engineered a backend and prepared a patch for sane-backends-1.0.15. This is the version found in Dapper and Edgy and it works great. However, Feisty uses sane-backends-1.0.18. The apropriate library file, /usr/lib/sane/libsane-sm3840.so.1-1.0.18 is present, but it fails to do its work. After some experimenting, I just downloaded the 1.0.15 version of sane-backends, applied apropriate patch and compiled it. Then I just copied libsane-sm3840.so.1-1.0.15 and changed the symbolic links in /usr/lib/sane to point to it. It worked like a charm and my scanner is functional again. My guess is that the library present in sane-backends-1.0.18 is either just a dummy placeholder, or contains a bug that prevents it from doing its job. ** Affects: sane-backends (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- lost support for sm3840 family scanners https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 71351] hidden menu items reappear after including them
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfdesktop4 Normally, I can create menu items in xfce menu that are called the same as the included menu items, and they will override the included items (i.e. I can change the icons or the submenu order, or add items into submenus). This works ok for all the properties of menu items, except the 'hidden' property. If this was fixed (i.e. the 'hidden' property of an item would be 'inherited' from the first occurence of an item in the menu file), then it would be possible to create gnome-like triple menu (Apllications/Places/System) and many other variations. This is more like a feature proposition than a bug, although the behavior is indeed inconsistent. ** Affects: xfdesktop4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- hidden menu items reappear after including them https://launchpad.net/bugs/71351 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 61424] Re: After painting several fast strokes in gimp, whole desktop freezes, not reacting to any clicks for several seconds.
I tried it under xfce with metacity replacing xfwm4 -- everything works fine, so I guess it's xfwm4 indeed. I also tried the --compositor=off option. This makes the delay much smaller, and almost ignorable -- but it's still there it seems (this was tested on edgy, with the new xfwm4). -- After painting several fast strokes in gimp, whole desktop freezes, not reacting to any clicks for several seconds. https://launchpad.net/bugs/61424 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 62492] firefox crashes/freezes X with nvidia on some pages
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox This is for both firefox in dapper and edgy. It seems that if a web page contains an extremely long line of unwrapped text (for example in a pre element), then firefox displays the text wrapped on the same line, so that it iverlaps with the beginning of that line of text. While most video drivers display this weirdness, the nvidia display drivers (the non-free ones) seem to either crash and restart whole X, or just freeze it completely (not even mouse cursor moves). The bug also affects Epiphany, as it uses the same rendering engine. The end result is that computer crashes seemingly randomly while browsing the web. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- firefox crashes/freezes X with nvidia on some pages https://launchpad.net/bugs/62492 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 61424] After painting several fast strokes in gimp, whole desktop freezes, not reacting to any clicks for several seconds.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce Making several fast strokes in GIMP makes the cpu load jump to 100% for several seconds and all the elements on the screen stop responding. Everything goes back to normal after some delay. This does not happen in KDE. The problem can be probably connected with the incremental updates of the image window icon that GIMP does when user draws something -- somehow this is very costly in cpu on xfce. ** Affects: xfce (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- After painting several fast strokes in gimp, whole desktop freezes, not reacting to any clicks for several seconds. https://launchpad.net/bugs/61424 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 61438] desktop icons don't respect the Single click to activate items setting
Public bug reported: Thunar has this very useful option to activate items by just single- clicking on them. It requires a little getting used to it, but is very comfortable and fast.
