as Calabacin pointed, it is more of a bug than a 'feature'. [Bug 253504] Re: adding sudo before command in launcher in gnome panel freezes X session
When I click on the launcher, there is no response (none visible). Even issuing the following command on a terminal shows no output ps -e|grep sudo. This shall mean that it is not even running in the background (as earlier mentioned by Sebastien). I suggest Home in Places and Nautilus toolbar but it should remain user's name everywhere else.
