[Bug 1820897] Re: USB wifi adapter module does not work after version update
The patch is no longer working. I have been hobbling along with my wired connection for several updates. With the latest upgrade to version 5.3.0-59, I tried to get it working again. I downloaded the module code from https://github.com/abperiasamy/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux/archive/master.zip Then I issue the following commands to build and install it: cd rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master make sudo make install sudo modprobe rtl8812au sudo cp -R . /usr/src/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-1.0 sudo dkms add -m rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux -v 1.0 sudo dkms build -m rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux -v 1.0 sudo dkms install -m rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux -v 1.0 I restarted the module, rebooted, it still wasn't working, but I unplugged the module from the USB cable and plugged it in again, and now it is working again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1820897 Title: USB wifi adapter module does not work after version update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rtl8812au/+bug/1820897/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 545790] Re: package PACKAGE failed to install/upgrade: error writing to '': Success
Brachayehhudit, the problem solved itself for me just by running the software installation again. While Ubuntu does work better with a bit of technical saviness, it's not too difficult to pick it up in bits and pieces over time, and I would encourage you to stick with it and learn to do the upgrades yourself over time. No need to pay someone else when they don't know what they're doing. BTW, it would not work to take your hard drive out and take it to someone else. The installation is hardware specific, so the person you take it too would need to have the exact same hardware configuration, which is not likely. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545790 Title: package PACKAGE failed to install/upgrade: error writing to '': Success To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dpkg/+bug/545790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This just happened to me trying to install xsane in Ubuntu 16.04. Previous fix seems to be inadequate.
[Bug 1613837] Re: rtl8812au-dkms 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg-0ubuntu2: rtl8812au kernel module failed to build [/lib/modules/3.13.0-77-generic/build: No such file or directory. Stop.]
Thanks for the suggestion, Jeremey, however, I didn't find the need to implement it. With the most recent update to kernel 4.4.0-38, it is working correctly now automatically, with no effort or changes on my part. I can run Modinfo 8812au And inspect the line vermagic: 4.4.0-38-generic SMP mod_unload modversions 686 which shows that it was recompiled for the latest kernel when the kernel was installed. On the basis of one kernel update, I'm optimistic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1613837 Title: rtl8812au-dkms 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg-0ubuntu2: rtl8812au kernel module failed to build [/lib/modules/3.13.0-77-generic/build: No such file or directory.
