[Bug 1532226] Re: No menu bar in gtk apps on fresh boot

2016-04-26 Thread Ray Strilec
I added the ppa:3v1n0/xenial-missing-menus-tests and did a sudo apt-get
update && sudo apt dist-upgrade, logged out, logged back in and menus
are back in Evolution, gedit, Rhythmbox that were problems earlier.

I've gone into the appearance -> behavior settings and tried all
combinations and reset to default with no success.

[Bug 1574908] [NEW] App Menus Missing multiple apps

2016-04-25 Thread Ray Strilec
Public bug reported:

Appmenu is missing from Evolution, Terminal, Rhythmbox, gedit and
probably others. I did an in-place upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04. I
don't think the problem was there right away. I am sure the menu was
present in Evolution initially. I noticed that I had to hover over the
area a few times to get the menu to appear. Now it is totally gone.

[Bug 902970] Re: /dev/usb/lp0 missing after update to 11.10

2012-03-01 Thread Ray Strilec
This link helped me get this working:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/canon-lbp2900-not-working-in-ubuntu-11-10-a-909262/

adding usblp to /etc/modules

The key to the solution was in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cups-usblp.conf
edit the file and comment or delete "blacklist usblp"

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 850264 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850264

**I don't believe it is a duplicate of 850264. I was installing amd64
version in Virtualbox on an 64bit machine, there was no foreign
architecture here. On a second attempt I did not opt for installing
updates or 3rd party software and the install was successful with no
apparent errors. Of course I can't say for certain that is what the
error was on the first attempt but it is the only thing I did differently.
