[Bug 1346414] Re: update-manager crashed with AttributeError in update(): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'saveDistUpgrade'

2014-08-29 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
I was having the same problem but I could not run the above command, it got
stuck with only a (I assume) non-relevant warning about a deprecated button use.
Using aptitude it first gave me a warning about unable to update and propose
several keeps, but after accepting the keeps it gave an other message about
broken packages which it could fix. After this no keeps and it could do a
normal update.
After this, update still did not run but then I discovered there where mere
update processes running at the same time. Killing them enabled me to run
update and the problem is gone.

So for me the real problem looked to be the broken packages but
unfortunately the broken packages were not logged and I have not noted
them down. For the command line option to run it might give more info
after killing the running update processes.

[Bug 1287725] Re: SVN crashes on svn:// login with: svn assert failure

2014-05-25 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
It was a long time ago but if I remember correct it appeared to be a
server problem which causes the dump at the client side.

So the message is being given if the repository can not be reached.
(Same thing will happen if you try to checkout from a server which does
not run subversion).

bDefinitely a user-error, but especially considering the likeliness of
this error it should rather result in a nice user message instead of
this core dump. /b

[Bug 764414] Re: private master bugs are confusing and lead to more duplicate filings

2012-04-08 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
wouldn't the problem be solved if a private bug would only fence off the
attachments and leave the comments open? Now everyone can see what the bug is
about and check if it is the same bug they are troubled by while all sensitive
data remains protected.
As long as nobody is using the bugtracker as a chatbox I would not know why
comments need to be private? :)

[Bug 962892] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in __assert_fail_base()

2012-04-06 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Happens regularly when I boot, compiz relaunches automatically and this error
always goes with an error about an apt crash. Everything seems to be working
fine after.
The black screen happened here also regularly but haven't seen that one for a
little while now. (fixed by restarting lightdm or unity --reset)

[Bug 744901] [NEW] xrandr shows wrong refresh rate

[Bug 744901] Re: xrandr shows wrong refresh rate

2011-03-29 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
If I switch with NVIDA X server settings I can put it to 60Hz and xrandr will
display the correct refresh rate. Switching back to 50Hz also gives correct
xrandr values.
So probably the init is done on 50Hz instead of 60Hz.

I did notice the resolution/refresh rates in the xrandr list going from
high to low but the highest resolution/refreshrate is completely at the
bottom.

[Bug 744901] Re: xrandr shows wrong refresh rate

2011-03-29 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Discard my remark about correct xrandr values, I apparently put my glasses
upside down. Xrandr gives:
1920x1080 50.0 51.0 52.0* 156.0

at startup it's at 50Hz but switching with nvidia settings every time
switches between 52 and 156Hz. Using set auto in between I can set 60Hz
while xrandr gives 52Hz, set 60Hz while xrandr gives 156Hz, set 50Hz get
52Hz or set 50Hz get 156Hz.

[Bug 744909] [NEW] NVIDIA X server settings crashes while changing resolution

2011-03-29 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Public bug reported:

I'll changed from 1920x1080 to 900x600. I cancel and found (after
'cleaning' the black with a window) Server settings not running anymore.
When I redid the same procedure I again got a crash, now with this
message:

Your current changes to the X server display configuration may no longer
be applied due to changes made to the running X server.

You may either reload the current X server settings and lose any
configuration setup in this page, or select Cancel and save your
changes to the X configuration file (requires restarting X to take
effect.)

If you select Cancel, you will only be allowed to apply settings once
you have reset the configuration.

[Bug 744938] [NEW] Install is unable to go back from advanced partitioning

2011-03-29 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: base-installer

During install I went to advanced partitioning and then back to review
what was proposed. Trying to get back in advanced partitioning gave me
an error about no root defined. I had to cancel my install and restart
from the beginning.

(I am not sure if I was able to go ahead with the auto proposed
partitioning because I could not select the correct hd and going forward
would destroy my data, selection problem is a different bug which is
already reported)

Binary package hint: base-installer

After canceling the base install I was not able to reboot from USB. Even
a hard reset did not help, I had to remove the power from the stick to
be able to use it again.

[Bug 697095] Re: polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_datalist_id_set_data_full() during login

2011-03-28 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Crashes sometimes after login, but I notice also that during login Ubuntu only
remembers my main user (made during install) while normally it shows all users.
I don't know if it always crashes when showing only the main user or if this is
actually a different bug. I'll have a look to see if it is a hard correlation.

[Bug 741962] [NEW] install crashes after downloading updates

2011-03-24 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I am trying to install 11.04 daily image and the install crashes after
updating and downloading (almost at the end). It gives an error message
asking to file a bugreport (with I believe a link to launchpad.net/...
instead of bugs.launchpad.net/... ).

2011-03-24 Thread Remco Brenninkmeijer
Redid the installation with a (usb) cdrom player and now the install
works ok. Apparently my assumption that I could use the image with a
usb-stick was false?

I leave the bugreport open in case it was meant to work like I thought.
If some-one makes it invalid I know my assumption was false...
