[Bug 1964627] Re: Info (/usr/bin/info) is crashing (SIGABRT)

2022-04-12 Thread Ricardo
After a LOT of debugging, I've found the problem.

I have installed in my system the package "language-pack-pt-base". In
this package there is the file:

/usr/share/locale-langpack/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/texinfo.mo

If you do:

$> msgunfmt /usr/share/locale-langpack/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/texinfo.mo |
less

and find the word "tutorial", you will see this text:

msgid ""
"Welcome to Info version %s. Type \\[get-help-window] for help, \\[get-info-"
"help-node] for tutorial."
msgstr ""
"Bem vindo à versão Info %s. Digite \\[get-help-window] p/ ajuda,\\[get-inffo-"
"help-node] p/ tutorial."

The "get-inffo-help-node" crashes GNU Info with an abort() because it is not a
valid function name. The correct function name is "get-info-help-node".

It is correct in the source of package "texinfo". It seems this file need to
be updated in package "language-pack-pt-base".

Hugs.

Ric.

Re: [Bug 1967738] Re: incorrect date time format for id_ID

2022-04-04 Thread Ricardo Gunawan
Thanks you, sir.
Could you help me for date format in 29-12-22?
d_fmt "%d-%m-%y" I think this setting still not correct, because Dolphin
file manager still using "29/12/22"
[image: Screenshot_20220404_174022.png]
What the correct format for d_fmt? Or I miss something?

Best regards,
Ricardo Gunawan

[Bug 1964627] [NEW] Info (/usr/bin/info) is crashing (SIGABRT)

2022-03-11 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

My system:

~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS
Release:20.04
~$ apt-cache policy info
info:
  Instalado: 6.7.0.dfsg.2-5
  Candidato: 6.7.0.dfsg.2-5
  Tabela de versão:
 *** 6.7.0.dfsg.2-5 500
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

The application Info (/usr/bin/info) crashes with SIGABRT on startup running in
terminal.

To replicate I need just to run:

$ info

Abortado (imagem do núcleo gravada)
$

My computer is in pt_BR. Translating the message: Aborted (core image
recorded/saved)

This happens in a terminal under X or on native text terminal.

It behaves a bit differently if you redirect output with a pipe:

$ info | less

I hope this information help.

[Bug 1960264] Re: 503 errors for Jammy PPAs

2022-03-09 Thread Ricardo Pardini
Same here. Using Jammy's 3.7.4-1build1 results in "503" errors even when
downloading from main archive. Seems to happen only when used with apt
in http_proxy mode (when using with localhost:3142/xxx prefix, eg, for
debootstrap, that works).

Reverted to debian/3.6.4-1 from salsa and all goes back to normal.

[Bug 1960972] Re: All snap applications missing from gnome-search after update

2022-02-17 Thread Ricardo N Feliciano
If I'm understanding what I'm reading correctly, the fix for this has
already been merged: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/11371/files

It might have been released with v2.54.3, but in the last 24 hours they
used that version for a security release. So I assume, when v2.54.4 (or
v2.55.0) get released, we'd have a fix for this published.

In the meantime, I followed Ian's fix in #2 manually in order to get it
working for now.

[Bug 1960972] Re: All snap applications missing from gnome-search after update

2022-02-17 Thread Ricardo N Feliciano
I'm using Fish and affected by this issue as well. I just wanted to
comment on:

"It appears that snapd.fish relies on fish_add_path which is not
available until fish 3.3, while Ubuntu 21.10 provides fish 3.1.2."

I'm using the Fish PPA and am running Fish v3.3.1 right now. So I don't
think having an older version of Fish is the issue.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one running into this though.

As a workaround, I added to my .bashrc

This way, it gives an error and fallbacks correctly to ffmpeg on X.org

[Bug 1927773] Re: Can't play video X.org on Ubuntu 21.04

2021-05-08 Thread Ricardo Almeida
Ok, it fails both in X.org and in Wayland. In X.org it fails by default
and it seems Wayland works because it tries to incorrectly load the
nvidia driver...

I looked into what vdpau drivers there are in the system (ls -lah
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vdpau/*so)

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Apr  7 11:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vdpau/libvdpau_nouveau.so -> libvdpau_nouveau.so.1.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Apr  7 11:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vdpau/libvdpau_r300.so -> libvdpau_r300.so.1.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Apr  7 11:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vdpau/libvdpau_r600.so -> libvdpau_r600.so.1.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Apr  7 11:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vdpau/libvdpau_radeonsi.so ->
libvdpau_radeonsi.so.1.0.0

If I set the driver to any "r" driver (e.g. export VDPAU_DRIVER=r600), then if
fails the same way that is failing X.org

Just to note, if I login using Wayland, mplayer plays the video
correctly.

On Wayland, some error messages appear but it seems to fallback to a
correct decoder:

[Bug 1927773] [NEW] Can't play video X.org on Ubuntu 21.04

2021-05-07 Thread Ricardo Almeida
Public bug reported:

I have upgraded my Lenovo Z50-75 (AMD A10-7300 with integrated Radeon R6
GPU) from Ubuntu 20.10 to Ubuntu 21.04 and can no longer play videos
with mplayer (nor vlc) when using X.org (that I need to use Cinnamon but
I've tried without Cinnamon and seems to be X.org related).

Description:Ubuntu 21.04
Release:21.04
mplayer:
  Installed: 2:1.4+ds1-1
vlc:
  Installed: 3.0.12-3

If I login using Ubuntu on X.org, I'm unable to play videos with mplayer
nor vlc.

I downloaded sample video from https://sample-
videos.com/video123/mp4/720/big_buck_bunny_720p_1mb.mp4

The video plays ok if seen in Firefox.

If I try to use mplayer, the window opens, the sound plays but no video.
On the console lots of errors like:

[vdpau] Error when calling vdp_video_surface_put_bits_y_cb_cr: No backend
implementation could be loaded.
A:   0.2 V:   0.0 A-V:  0.250 ct:  0.000   0/  0 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0

If I try to use vlc, similar thing happens. The sound plays but no
video. On the console lots of errors like:

[h264 @ 0x7f48ecce3640] hardware accelerator failed to decode picture

On Ubuntu 20.10 it was working ok.

[Bug 1875066] Re: Missing NM-icon for established vpn-connections

2021-04-20 Thread Ricardo de Souza Pires
It didn't fix the problem here.
I did copy and replaced the icons in "/usr/share/icons/Ambiant-MATE/status/22"
using the icons from the .tar.gz.
It didn't work. I tryed to reboot but still nothing.
Do I need to run any command to "refresh" those icons? Is there a cache of it
or something?

[Bug 1877135] Re: Failed to start Virtual filesystem service - Apple File Conduit monitor [libusbmuxd.so.4 not found]

2021-01-04 Thread Ricardo Graça
If anyone is wondering what "properly removing it" actually means it's
just literally rm /usr/local/lib/libimobiledevice.so.6. Don't worry
since there should already be a similar system library in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/.

I also noticed there were other files with names starting with
libimobiledevice.so.* in the same /usr/local/lib directory so I also
removed them.

For the record I tried to do a make uninstall from the source directory
thinking that was the "proper way" but that didn't help.

[Bug 1876442] Re: [snap] chromium causing many audit messages in syslog

2020-12-28 Thread Ricardo Sanz
Same problem here.

It seems this post is about the same problem:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2444175

Workaround from that post: run the chromium directly without using Snap:

/snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome &

It seems to work. However, all personal configuration is linked to the
Snap version so you'll have to configure it again (for example, you lose
all cookies, bookmarks, etc).

I still see the issue with 20.04

I then have to wait for the timeout to enter the password, I login and logout,

Message on syslog is the same as above mentioned

[Bug 1819543] Re: Does not exit correctly, have to "kill -9

2020-11-08 Thread Ricardo Gabriel da Silva Brunne Valle
Affects me on Kubuntu 20.04 in multiple machines. If I close the app via
the "X" button AND it is playing some media file it gets stuck and I
need to give a "killall -9 vlc" command. It closes just fine if I stop
the media before closing with the "X" button. If I quit the app with
CTRL+Q or with the close command in the "media" menu it exits just fine
even if media is playing. Starting the app via command line, panel or by
clicking on a file seems to have no effect on this behavior.

[Bug 1901694] [NEW] No hardware aceleration

2020-10-27 Thread Ricardo
Public bug reported:

Computer HP EliteBook 8460p. It uses hybrid graphics card. Processor Intel Core
i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz × 4; 2nd generation. The system only runs well with
llvmpipe (LLVM 6.0, 256 bits) graphic software, AMD Caicos sometimes it's
charged too, but the graphic display have problems and don't goes fine or fluid.
Maybe there is no support for the processor graphics because It's a little bit
old. I don't know how to install AMD proprietary drivers, It maybe solve the
problem.
I installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS but don't works, It don't charge any graphic
interface, only a black screen. I only uses the system in recovery mode. For
that reason I returned to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but my graphics don't have hardware
acceleration, only software acceleration. When I tried to play (Super Tux Kart
for example) I expected a berry poor graphic improvement, so I can't play It.
Thanks for your time and attention!

[Bug 1886211] [NEW] Auto-complete for grub-reboot provides invalid options, most of which fail silently

2020-07-03 Thread Ricardo Abreu
Public bug reported:

Hitting tab on `grub-reboot` gives:

```
$ grub-reboot [tab]
--id
Advanced options for Ubuntu
Ubuntu
Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-108-generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-108-generic (recovery mode)
Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-109-generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-109-generic (recovery mode)
```

But

```
$ grub-reboot --id
Unrecognized option `--id'
[...]
```

And the menu items starting with "Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-" are
actually in the submenu "Advanced options for Ubuntu". So, saying `grub-
reboot "Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-108-generic", does not have the
desired effect. One needs to say instead `grub-reboot "Advanced options
for Ubuntu>Ubuntu, with Linux 4.15.0-108-generic"`.

Additionally, `grub-reboot` accepts those and other meaningless
parameters without complaint:

```
$ sudo grub-reboot nonsense && echo success
success
```

2020-05-02 Thread Ricardo Garicano Arenas
I have similar problem with xubuntu & ubuntu studio (fresh install or upgrade) ,
it happen only with some resolutions & without screen rotation.
 i "solved" it increasing framebuffer in at least 1 pixel,

eg: xrandr --fb 1441x900 --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 1440x900
--panning 1440x0

try?

[Bug 1876384] Re: Gnome 3.36 flickering framebuffer line above status bar

2020-05-02 Thread Ricardo Garicano Arenas
also have a similar problem with xubuntu & ubuntu studio (with updated &/or
fresh install, but not with test version), the screen is "broke" in different
displaced strips.
I fixed it (temporarily) increasing the framebuffer in 1 pixel
eg: xrandr --fb 1441x900 --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 1440x900 --panning 1440x0

[Bug 1616650] Re: snap refresh while command is running may cause issues

2020-04-29 Thread Ricardo N Feliciano
I have the exact problem with Chromium that Olivier described in #7.

I see this issue as it affects Chromium especially important in April
2020 for two reasons:

1. With the global pandemic and the rise of working from home, a stable and
reliable browser is more important than ever.
2. Ubuntu 20.04 has been released. This is the first LTS with Chromium as a
snap. The number of people running into this issue will greatly increase.

[Bug 1870546] [NEW] Infinite loop when searching printer by IP

[Bug 1864698] [NEW] Can't change laptop-screen brightness

2020-02-25 Thread Ricardo Abreu
Public bug reported:

I can't change the screen brightness anymore, on a Dell XPS13. Neither
the keyboard shortcuts nor gnome's sliders work. They move, but
brightness remains unchanged.

I first noticed this after disconnecting an external display, but I have
since rebooted and the problem remains.

This on Focal. I have done a series of upgrades since the original
installation and I know this used to work, but I can't be sure of when
exactly it stopped working. I noticed now, but it could have arisen
earlier. I am pretty sure it was OK on Disco.

I attach the output of lshw. Let me know what else I can provide.

[Bug 1861310] [NEW] Overlay with shortcut numbers not showing on dock

2020-01-29 Thread Ricardo Abreu
Public bug reported:

The dock no longer shows the overlay with digits corresponding to
shortcuts to launch apps (with ). It stopped appearing after I
upgraded to Eoan.

The numbers are show neither with q nor by holding .
Unlike #1846718, no overlay appears when hitting +0 either (or
some other number), although the corresponding item is launched/focused.

I have tried changing a number of things in org.gnome.shell.extensions
.dash-to-dock, including setting hot-keys to false, as advised
[here](https://askubuntu.com/questions/1082772/keyboard-shortcut-for-
launching-application-from-dock-in-ubuntu-18). Alas, I couldn't make it
work.

Not sure if it matters, but this is the second upgrade (install was on
Cosmic originally). Here is the output of some commands that may be
relevant:

I'm not sure this is a duplicate. The other bug report only mentions a
few specific packages such as lvm2 and was marked as invalid for Ubuntu
19.04 Disco.

I'm having this issue and the packages to autoremove are mostly the ones
listed above.

2019-05-03 Thread Ricardo M. Costa via ubuntu-bugs
I'm getting that same error, but without even having the copy & paste
aspect. I simply select "T" (text box) and click in the active region.

I'm on Xubuntu 19.04, running glabels 3.4.1. Not sure if I should attach
to this bug report or create a new one.

[Bug 1819989] Re: Add basic support to NVLink2 passthrough

2019-04-01 Thread Jose Ricardo Ziviani
SRU:

[Impact]

 * An important feature was developed for PowerPC upstream and
backported to a custom version of Ubuntu Bionic 18.04.1. The feature is
known as nvlink2[1] passthrough, it allows physical GPUs to be accessed
from any QEMU/KVM virtual machine. The problem happens when clients want
to use that feature within their virtual machines: They will need to use
a custom version, not the standard Ubuntu Bionic for PowerPC that
everyone knows where it's and how to install it.

We understand that it's a huge impact in the user experience, not only
the extra-difficulty to find/install the correct version but users that
misunderstand the need of a custom version will think that the feature
is simply broken.

Due to the fact that the guest part (the code that will run in the
virtual machine) is a way simpler than the host part we decided to send
the patches as a SRU. Fixing the user-experience problem without
impacting existing use-cases.

[1] https://wccftech.com/nvidia-volta-gv100-gpu-fast-pascal-gp100/

[Test Case]

 * In order to reproduce the issue, it's required a Power9 system with
NVLink2 + NVidia GPU and the customized Ubuntu Bionic installed (kernel
+ qemu).

 * Then, create a virtual machine like:

Create a disk image:
$ qemu-img create sda.qcow2 -f qcow2 100G

Find the devices to be attached:
$ lspci | grep NVIDIA
...
0004:04:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GV100 [Tesla V100 SXM2] (rev a1)
...

Detach all devices (including devices that belong to the same IOMMU group) to
be passed to the virtual machine (script detach.sh attached):
$ sudo ./detach.sh 0004:04:00.0

Run the virtual machine:
$ sudo qemu-system-ppc64 -nodefaults \
-chardev stdio,id=STDIO0,signal=off,mux=on \
-device spapr-vty,id=svty0,reg=0x7110,chardev=STDIO0 \
-mon id=MON0,chardev=STDIO0,mode=readline \
-nographic -vga none -enable-kvm \
-device nec-usb-xhci,id=nec-usb-xhci0 \
-m 16384M \
-chardev socket,id=SOCKET0,server,nowait,host=localhost,port=4 \
-mon chardev=SOCKET0,mode=control \
-smp 16,threads=4 \
-netdev "user,id=USER0,hostfwd=tcp::-:22" \
-device "virtio-net-pci,id=vnet0,mac=C0:41:49:4b:00:00,netdev=USER0" \
-drive file=sda.qcow2,format=qcow2,if=none,id=drive-virtio-disk0 \
-device
virtio-blk-pci,scsi=off,bus=pci.0,addr=0x3,drive=drive-virtio-disk0,id=virtio-disk0,bootindex=1
 \
-device "vfio-pci,id=vfio0004_04_00_0,host=0004:04:00.0" \
-device "vfio-pci,id=vfio0006_00_00_0,host=0006:00:00.0" \
-device "vfio-pci,id=vfio0006_00_00_1,host=0006:00:00.1" \
-device "vfio-pci,id=vfio0006_00_00_2,host=0006:00:00.2" \

-global spapr-pci-vfio-host-bridge.pgsz=0x10011000 \
-cdrom ubuntu-18.04.1-server-ppc64el.iso \
-machine pseries

Install the system in the virtual machine and reboot. After booting in
the installed virtual machine, download and install the drivers from
cuda-repo-ubuntu1804-10-1-local-10.1.91-418.29_1.0-1_ppc64el.deb (NVidia
website).

With all nvidia drivers installed, check the result of the following

[Fix]
 * The patchset can be found here:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2019-March/099243.html

There are 12 patches but the most important pieces are:
 - 8/12: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2019-March/099250.html
 - 9/12: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2019-March/099254.html

NPU code already exists, so much of the work consists in update the code
to NPU2 and to add the GPU memory in the numa layout.

[Bug 1819989] [NEW] Add basic support to NVLink2 passthrough

2019-03-13 Thread Jose Ricardo Ziviani
Public bug reported:

This bug exists to track the basic support to NVLink2 passthrough on
Ubuntu 18.04 - for the guest side only. There's a relative small
patchset that I'm going to send to Canonical Kernel Team using this
buglink.

On the host side we'll be running a custom version of Ubuntu 18.04
(kernel + qemu). However on the guest side it will be *very important*
for clients to simply download the Ubuntu 18.04 from Canonical's website
and have the NVLink2 working out of the box.

For that, we have worked on a small patchset using only upstream patches
without changing beyond our area.

As soon as I send the patchset to the mailing list I'll update this bug
with a link to that message.

Thank you very much,

Jose R. Ziviani

2019-02-25 Thread Ricardo
Just hit this bug when trying to change from mysql to mariadb.

Solution: reboot after purging mysql and installing mariadb will load
the correct AppArmor profile.

[Bug 1547770] Re: Vinagre / Remote Desktop Viewer won't exit full screen when launched from command line

2019-02-09 Thread Ricardo Contreras
i'm just trying out vinagre on my pixel book, connecting to ubuntu
18.04. I get the same thing. I can go into fullscreen (without
disabling keyboard shortcuts) and once in... i can't get out. I have to
kill the window in order to start over. Hovering over the top area does
nothing. The button dropdown never appears.

This is vinagre 3.22.0-1+b1 running on chromebook environment, which is
Debian stretch 9.6:
