[Bug 729628] Re: natty alpha3 install hangs on E6510
Ok, forget this one. Apparently there was a problem with the ntfs partition, and the partitioner choked on that. Running gparted via another live session revealed the ntfs error and stated to run a 'chkdsk \f'. After that, the error did not show up in gparted anymore, and after that I could just run the installer. The compiz error is still there, but I will try to report that in another bug-report Can I close an issue of myself? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/729628 Title: natty alpha3 install hangs on E6510 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 729628] [NEW] natty alpha3 install hangs on E6510
Public bug reported: Trying out the alpha3, both Desktop64 and Alternate64 installer hang on my Dell E6510. Desktop64 either fails with a Compiz segfault or start till the live desktop, but the installer then hangs without any notice in dmesg or so. Alternate64 installer hangs after 'starting partitioner', last lines in dmesg are about ntfs ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/729628 Title: natty alpha3 install hangs on E6510 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 729628] Re: natty alpha3 install hangs on E6510
this is a dmesg.txt after the failing of the desktop installer disk. It was already booted far enough so I could switch to a second console and scp this dmesg.txt during the hangs of the installers I'm not able to copy/scp the dmesg messages to another machine as said, another time I was able to boot into the live environment, but there the installer also hangs (I think something with partitioner). ** Attachment added: dmesg.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/729628/+attachment/1887472/+files/dmesg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/729628 Title: natty alpha3 install hangs on E6510 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 605176] Re: maverick alpha 2 resume fails on Dell E6510 (intel I5 and video)
there has been a lot of coding/testing with these Intel-chipsets for E6510. In this (very long) threads: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/600453 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29278 it seems we finally have a HD screen working. With a Natty nightly and the kernel from #185 a lot of intel/screen stuff seemed to be fixed. Sleeping and resuming is now also working with that kernel. For me it makes it possible to use ubunto on my E6510 (because before that the screen was just black)., I was still on Lucid with an old kernel which was working. It seems they will backport the fix to other ubuntu versions, please try and see if this helps. I'm eager to see the results from that (don't know how to monitor the fact that that fix is applied to a kernel version ) By the way: there was a difference between E6510 dells with integrated Intel chips versus the NVIDIA ones. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #29278 http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29278 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/605176 Title: maverick alpha 2 resume fails on Dell E6510 (intel I5 and video) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 600453] Re: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU)
Andy, tried it. Still a black screen on a E6510 with intel HD (for full hardwarelist see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg- video-intel/+bug/648335) I used the vanilla iso (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/natty-desktop-i386.iso) there. But there is something with enlarging a timeout also isn't it in the http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29278 bug report also. It's really a pitty. I thought to buy an Intel-integrated graphics card because of the good hardware compatibility of Intel and Ubuntu :-( -- [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
