[Bug 269357] Re: [Needs EXA] Video playback failes with compiz enabled

2008-12-11 Thread Ripps818
With my Radeon 9600 Pro, when I EXA enabled, my xserver would randomly
freeze when under load. I fixed this by adding 'Option AGPMode 1' to
my xorg.conf under the Device section for the video device.

[Bug 192572] Re: ccsm crashed with TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (4 given)

2008-10-30 Thread Ripps818
Try PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages ccsm.

If that works, it means that ccsm is using /usr/local/lib/ptython.
So to fix it, just remove or rename the directory
/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages/ccm.

I agree that this was a blunder, and probably shouldn't have happened. But keep
in mind, this was in the Proposed Updates repository. These updates aren't

If you want a perfectly stable Ubuntu, then don't use unstable untested

[Bug 224327] [NEW] Gimmie applet has no icons and no color

2008-04-29 Thread Ripps818
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimmie

I installed Gimmie on my Ubuntu 8.04 system, but It doesn't show any of the
icons on the panel and the only color it has is white.
This is a problem because it makes it difficult to use with my theme, as the
text on my panel is white to match the black background; not to mention that
the white makes it look like an eyesore to the rest of my theme. And since it
has no icons, even when I set it to only icons, all I have are 4 little white
rectangles next to each other.

I'm using the SlicknesS theme with the NoiaWarm theme. I modified the
NoiaWarm theme to be compatible with Hardy, as it didn't work with Hardy
originally. But I don't think that my current iconset is the problem, as
I don't see the icons even when I change the iconset.

** Affects: gimmie (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 25931] Re: Failed to initalize HAL.

2008-04-18 Thread Ripps818
I fixed my Hal problem by disabling all modules for my Tv Tuner. I read in a
another HAL bug report that the newest round of kernel release caused this
problem to people with TV Tuner cards.
Modules I blacklisted:
cx88xx
cx8800
cx88_alsa

[Bug 137559] Re: [gutsy] failed to initialize hal

2008-04-15 Thread Ripps818
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 25931 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/25931

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 beta using kernel
2.6.24.16. Ever since then I've been receiving a failed to initialize
HAL error upon entering Gnome. This apparently prevents me from
accessing my wifi card and mounting my Windows partitions, among other
things. I regain HAL when I booted up with my Gutsy Kernel 2.4.22.14.

Based on what I've read here, it seems to be a problem with the kernel,
as people started experiencing this when they upgraded their kernel.

[Bug 25931] Re: Failed to initalize HAL.

2008-04-15 Thread Ripps818
I'm having the same Fail to initialize Hal error in my Hardy 2.6.24-16.
I can boot up correctly with 2.6.22-14, but I lose my fglrx ogl libraries and
my keryring daemon crashes (yet it still seems to work).
I've tried all the reconfiguring/reinitialize of hald and dbus, as well as
messing with rc configs; still nothing.

After looking at some of my log files, the only error I can find in
concern to HAL comes when pulseaudio is first initializing. I'm not sure
if it's the cause, and I don't know how to stop it from starting to see
if it's the cause.
