Re: [Bug 1762364] Re: failed to load grub2 on reinstallation ubuntu 16.04.01 64bit

2018-05-23 Thread Rob Golding via ubuntu-bugs
As you've taken so long to respond to my initial request I'd forgotten
about it but it's no longer an issue - I've since solved the problem
myself. Thank you.

Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

[Bug 951790] Re: Laptop does not suspend on lid close when external display is connected

2014-06-07 Thread Rob Golding
I agree, being able to disable suspend when an external monitor is
connected make perfect sense (even if it's not the default behaviour).
I've installed gnome-tweak-tool and Laptop lid, when closed, will
suspend even if there is an external monitor plugged in. is disabled,
but it happens anyway.

[Bug 1164753] Re: boots to a black screen with a cursor

2013-06-02 Thread Rob Golding
This has started happening to me since I upgraded to raring. I have a
suspicion that it's linked to the power status, as it seems to happen
only when my laptop is not plugged into the mains, though I can't say
with any certainty.

[Bug 522996] Re: Keys get stuck on Dell Studio 1535

2011-11-20 Thread Rob Golding
Has there been any update on this issue? I'm still experiencing problems
after a fresh install of 11.10.

Programming is difficult when your keypresses are ignored every so often
:)

[Bug 522996] Re: Keys get stuck on Dell Studio 1535

2011-05-03 Thread Rob Golding
I can confirm this this is still an issue in Natty, on a brand-new
install on a Dell Studio 1535. Also, keys are missed every so often,
causing misspellings all over the place.

Very frustrating! I'm happy to post any debug info or logs as required.

I can confirm that I am experiencing this bug also - in Ubuntu Lucid, on
a Dell Studio 1535 laptop.
