[Bug 1507255] Re: Garbled graphics in Wily with Intel GMA4500 chip
This also impacts me. Screen becomes garbled quicker if Firefox is running. Screen takes a bit longer to become garbled if only Thunderbird is running. I tried Cory's fix above, and it hasn't garbled the screen in about 45 minutes minutes with Firefox, Thunderbird, and other graphical apps running simultaneously. On my system the file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf didn't exist, so I created it with the contents that Cory provided. >From uname -a: Linux gandalf 4.2.0-16-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 8 14:46:51 UTC 2015 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux >From lspci: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Bug 190359] [NEW] dhclient continually seeks ip address on unconnected interface
Public bug reported: I run an up-to-date Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) on a no-name laptop. I use wireless network with WPA supplicant almost exclusively. Recently, after the latest round of updates, I have noticed that my syslog is getting flooded with messages from dhclient. It appears that every four minutes, dhclient is trying to obtain an IP address for eth0, which is the wired interface, and is not connected. Each time dhclient runs, it outputs between 5 and 7 lines into /var/log/syslog. Running the command sudo ifdown eth0 stops the messages. Did this fix make hardy? Putting a failure message up after usplash stops doesn't seem too user friendly. [Bug 139665] Re: apparmor profile error messages
Hi. Since upgrade from fiesty to gutsy, I've been getting apparmor messages when I print. My printer is connected to an XP box, so I'm using samba. Dec 15 17:20:51 gandalf kernel: [26194.092000] audit(1197757250.417:11): type=1503 operation="file_mmap" requested_mask="mr" denied_mask="m" name="/usr/share/samba/lowcase.dat" pid=7208 profile="/usr/sbin/cupsd" Dec 15 17:20:51 gandalf kernel: [26194.16] audit(1197757250.417:12): type=1503 operation="file_mmap" requested_mask="mr" denied_mask="m" name="/usr/share/samba/valid.dat" pid=7208 profile="/usr/sbin/cupsd" After reading up on apparmor, and reviewing /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd, and noticing that there is a samba profile in the /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions directory, I tried adding the following line to /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd, and it no longer generates messages when printing. I added it to the end of the #include section. #include My thought is that it may be good to add samba to the apparmor cups profile on a go-forward basis to keep syslog noise down.
