[Bug 772535] Re: Keyboard layout chooser freezes during ubuntu installation

2011-05-23 Thread Robert Premuz
I'm also affected by this bug as I prefer using keyboard to mouse while
selecting an item in a long list.
Please, fix this and release a maintenance release of Ubuntu 11.04.

[Bug 657990] Re: System freeze when i'am not moving the mouse or typing.

2011-05-10 Thread Robert Premuz
I'd like to confirm that this bug exists in Ubuntu 11.04 with
Linux 2.6.38-9.43 on a Toshiba nb300.

As a workaround I set
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nolapic_timer clocksource=jiffies
in /etc/default/grub and then run
sudo update-grub
sudo reboot

Note that the right option name is nolapic_timer, not nolapci_timer as
mentioned above.

[Bug 733952] [NEW] Google search engine (and others) missing in the search bar

2011-03-12 Thread Robert Premuz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

After upgrade to FF 3.6.15 I lost most of the search engines in the FF
search bar (e.g. Google and others).

Creating a new profile in FF does not solve the problem.

After a little of investigation I've found out that the following directory is
empty:
/usr/lib/firefox-addons/searchplugins/en-GB
(I use en-GB locales).

The problem can be solved by copying all files from
/usr/lib/firefox-addons/searchplugins/en-US to the above directory:
cp /usr/lib/firefox-addons/searchplugins/en-US/*
/usr/lib/firefox-addons/searchplugins/en-GB/
and restarting firefox.

[Bug 619365] Re: Screen corruption when X starts

2011-01-14 Thread Robert Premuz
I also encountered the same problem on newly installed Ubuntu 10.10
(Maverick) x64 on a PC that has Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2
PCI-E.

uname says:
Linux 2.6.35-24-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 02:41:37 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux
dpkg says:
ii xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.13.1-1ubuntu5

The problem usually starts very shortly after the system boots and I'm
not even able to log in. Soon the system becomes unresponsive. If I boot
in recovery mode, I'm able to log in.

Putting nomodeset option in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT solved the
problem.

Another solution I found is explained on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting . The command for turning off KMS
for radeon driver:
# echo options radeon modeset=0 /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf

[Bug 407652] Re: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.28/arch/x86/mm/pat.c:298!

2010-03-15 Thread Robert Premuz
Hi, Jeremy!

I'm afraid I can't try a new Ubuntu install as in the meantime I
installed Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.2 on the machine and put it into
production.

With Debian I haven't experienced the issue in all the Linux upgrades from
2.6.26-2-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Jul 26 20:35:48 UTC 2009 x86_64
until
2.6.26-2-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 9 22:29:32 UTC 2010 x86_64

[Bug 407652] [NEW] kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.28/arch/x86/mm/pat.c:298!

2009-08-01 Thread Robert Premuz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.28-14-generic

I've just installed Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition for AMD64 architecture
on the following hardware:

MB: EliteGroup RS485M-M
Processor: AMD Sempron 3200+
RAM: 1 GB
VGA: on-board ATI Radeon Xpress 1150

$ uname -a
Linux mypc 2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 25 01:19:55 UTC 2009 x86_64
GNU/Linux

At every system reboot or shutdown a kernel bug trace is displayed and
the system halts.

The /var/log/kern.log is in the attachment.

Is there a way to fix this?
