Actually, I can't find any references to "mem_sleep_default=deep" in
/etc/default/grub, although I do see that /boot/grub/grub.cfg contains some
(see attached).

Every so often, whether I close the lid of the laptop or not, the screen
will go blank and neither pressing a key nor moving the mouse will show
anything. The only thing I can do to recover is hold the power button

disconnected from it. After disconnecting, the laptop (Dell XPS 13
(9370)) couldn't reconnect to the router. Checking Settings showed that
