[Bug 756317] Re: Captive portals may corrupt apt package lists
As I said in a duplicate bug, I think this is a serious issue both from a user viewpoint (i've seen people switching back to Windows due to this bug, since a "normal" user doesn't know how to fix this) and a security viewpoint. The captive portal owner could easily insert a malicious repository into the APT configuration. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756317 Title: Captive portals may corrupt apt package lists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/756317/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 299361] Re: Preload doesn't start because state file has wrong entry.
I have the same problem here, on the LTS release (12.04 64bit). After some time, preload.state gets corrupted, with comments like "line 2693: invalid tag". Removing the line does not solve the problem, since it leads to other errors. The only way to get preload working again is to remove preload.state. I think this is a severe bug, for a package shipped with a LTS release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299361 Title: Preload doesn't start because state file has wrong entry. [Bug 177560] Re: OpenRPG current version is out of date.
It isn't the patch. Download the upstream source code and open a file (I just tried "start.py") with an editor like "vi" or "geany", with end- lines visualization active. You'll see it shows a ^M after every line, and is this causing bash to fail on "#!/usr/bin/python^M". It's an uptream issue, they're using MS-DOS mode and it can't work on Ubuntu without a fix. Please, let me know how to proceed. For the other issue ('fake' patches), I already resolved. -- OpenRPG current version is out of date. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 177560] Re: OpenRPG current version is out of date.
There's a problem: the source code is all encoded in MS-DOS mode (CR LF instead of LF), and without switching to UNIX mode exec or the bash itself don't recognize the interpreter. The old (1.6.3) source code was encoded in UNIX mode. bash: ./start.py: /usr/bin/python^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory How should I act on this? re-encode the original source code file-by- file? -- OpenRPG current version is out of date. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 177560] Re: OpenRPG current version is out of date.
Sorry, it's my first package update. I did it another time, following your hints. These are the steps I've done: - download the new source, extracted and renamed the archive to openrpg_1.7.1.orig.tar.gz - apt-get source openrpg, for the old source + diff.gz - copied the old debian/ dir - dch -i and edited the changelog So, I removed old patches and re-created them with quilt inserting only required changes. Then, `quilt pop -a` and `debuild -S -sa`. The generated diff.gz is attached to this comment. Am I doing something wrong? What the 'non-sense' lines are? I hope this is right. ** Attachment added: "openrpg_1.7.1-0ubuntu1.diff.gz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37619842/openrpg_1.7.1-0ubuntu1.diff.gz -- OpenRPG current version is out of date. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
