doing as described here http://tagavalgal.blogspot.com/2011/11
/quicktime-demuxer-not-found-in-ubuntu.html as someone mentioned in
another bug report has solved this problem for most but not all of my
videos. they will all play with the command $gst-launch playbin
uri=file:'file'

[Bug 977438] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic panel displayed on full screen videos

2012-05-01 Thread Robin Garnett
Can confirm that for me it was caused by the clock on the top pager
updating while using the place compiz plugin, for now have removed the
clock (special+alt+rightclick remove from panel), that's stopped it
popping up. I think the problem is with place plugin though and there's
a bug report here https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/976032.

As for the turns-out-to-be-unrelated windows moving themselves
about/jumping to the top of the screen thing that I was having that was
caused by wobbly windows plugin which has a snap feature by default set
to shift changed to disabled to stop.

[Bug 977438] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic panel displayed on full screen videos

2012-04-30 Thread Robin Garnett
same here had all these probs, had thought it was all being caused by
the place windows applet in compiz (which worked fine in 10.10)
interesting about the clock if that has to do with anything.

2012-04-30 Thread Robin Garnett
that does stop the window placement/panels in full screen problems but
it makes my windows look ugly, and turns off things I use a lot like the
ring switcher compiz plugin, which is worse. for me anyway

[Bug 989663] Re: Totem does not play certain videos correctly.

2012-04-27 Thread Robin Garnett
Been trying to fix this same issue all week (totem opens mp4 files but
then just sits there saying 'playing' with a track length 0.00/0.00),
have finally installed vlc and that does indeed play them. This is also
affecting banshee media player so guess it's gstreamer. have also tried
reinstalling totem, totem-plugins-extra, and gstreamer no luck there.
noticed that there is no libmp4v2-0 for 12.04 guess it's been replaced?
have medibuntu depo and some others - all the codecs I can find and am
using gnome panel (2d).
