[Bug 1310475] Re: Turn On Recommendation is not working in Ubuntu Gnome 14.04

2016-11-09 Thread Ron S.
same but here. I have tried whatever workarounds/fixes listed on web to no
avail.
failure on 14.04.5 with latest updates installed (inc. yesterday's flashplugin
update - which didn't fix it for me, but I haven't dug into that one yet).
Don't mean to pile on, just mean to report. Thx

[Bug 588155] Re: randomly gnome-settings-daemon fails to start

2011-01-07 Thread Ron S
In maverick I have had this bug happen to me on several occasions on boot up.
logging out and logging back in fixes the problem.
I have noticed this only happens to me after updating but only after an update
where it say ureadahead will be re-profiled at next
boot up . Since noticing this every update that forces re-profiling has caused
this problem but only on my pc and not my laptop.
PC uses nvidia driver 260.19.06 while laptop uses ati driver.

2010-05-10 Thread Ron S
Upgrading to mountall - 2.15 in proposed fixed the problem for me. Disk check
now takes less than 30 secs. compared to about 30 minutes before. New package
has not caused any problems that I'm aware of.
Nice work thanks.

Never saw plymouth at all on boot or shutdown just a few colored pixels at the

all just a minute longer of black screen.
Using fix #77 fixed these problems.

problem could be with the new kernel as keytouch worked just fine in

2008-11-06 Thread Ron S
Same problem here after upgrade with Microsoft multimedia keyboard. The
only keys working are those configured with the keyboard shortcuts
program. Keytouch has no effect at all.

Running keytouchd in console gives

Warning: Not all keys can be grabbed by this program. This
can be caused by another program which is already
 grabbing these keys.

Solved the problem on my machine. Seems the problem was caused by installing

A workaround for the problem can be found here.

After a restart it works just fine.
Hope this works for you.

[Bug 184017] Re: [Hardy]locking the firewall using Firestarter destabilises the entire X-Server

2008-05-09 Thread Ron S
Same problem as Daniele but I have found that if I wait for about five
minutes after trying to unlock it will finally unlock. If I force quit
and try to restart firestarter again after a wait of about five minutes
it will start in an unlocked state. So in my case it doesn't lock but
just hangs for several minutes.
