Blacklisting nouveau fix `0.5 frames/s` problem in Ubuntu 21.04, but
cannot enter desktop in Ubuntu 21.10

why not use Ubuntu 21.04 ?

Ubuntu 21.04 render incorrectly, for example, if:
1) built-in monitor: scale=125%, resolution=4000x2000
2) external monitor: scale=100%, resulution=2000x1000

Ubuntu 21.10 render correctly.

same bug for me:
ubuntu 21.04
nvidia driver 470
blacklisted nouveau
fractional scale = 125%


desktop is 200% scale, and right and bottom part of desktop is out of monitor.

Alt/Win key not working. So I went to keyboard setting, the keyboard 'Set 
shotcut' windows
not recognize keyboard too. this keyboard is type-c connected keyboard.


The builtin keyboard of my laptop works. But I never use this keyboard.


Upgrade ubuntu version is really not what I want. Please allow user to disable 
upgrade in the future. The upgrade and coming bugs really destroy my life.

I'm using fractional scaling in System Settings -> Displays, select 100%
for a 2k*1k monitor and 200% scaling a 4k*2k monitor, and then mouse
clicked in the wrong position on the first monitor.

wrong position means: mouse click 100,100 and 50,50 got clicked

WRONG SOLUTION. Has nothing to do with reboot or kill. A bit of
thinking. Has everything to do with matching repository server to
your region.  In my case, time region was China, but repo server was UK.
Changing server to China solved the problem, permanently.  Best tool for
this is Synaptic.  very easy user install problem to correct.

After some weeks of trials, I think I found the the answer.

Create a new, default template!  By formatting and configuring a blank  
document (including the printer settings), and then saving as default, OO  
then defaults to the right settings.

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Open Office will not save the changes made under printer settings/properties 
and printer settings/options.
This means before each time I wish to print, I must change the properties to 
get the right paper size (A4) and the options (reversed pages order) to get the 
correct settings.
I want to be able to set OO printer settings to the correct defaults, such that 
the defaults are correct each time I start OO.

Another solution (for the R.A.T.5; untested on the 7) is to simply edit
the Xmodmap file to say pointer = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 0 0 0,
then reboot/restart X. This didn't require any editing of xorg.conf.
Worked for 10.10; has been working on my computer for days now.

These codes worked for me but I have to manually entered the command
every time I boot.

sh:grubset root=(loop0)
sh:grublinux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-14-generic root=/dev/sda1 
loop=/ubuntu/disks/root.disk ro
sh:grubinitrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-14-generic
sh:grubboot

Then I replaced the wubildr from #90 and it booted automatically this
time.

Tall Guy,

For some reason I had two locations where I have the wubildr. C:\ and
also C:\wubi\boot. When I replace the C:\wubi\boot location it did NOT
wok. So I replaced both locations on C:\ and also C:\wubi\boot, then it
load up automatically. Now it has been loading ok for me so far.

These codes worked for me (#22), I was able to get back in to ubuntu, then I 
updated grub2 but when I rebooted, I end up in the 
sh:grub again and I have to retype all the codes again to get into ubuntu. Is 
there anything else I need to do? I'm a newbee please help.

I am also unable to print some PDF files from Evince to two HP LaserJet
4500 printers and one ColorJet 3700, which are all through AppSocket/HP
JetDirect.

I tried printing a test PDF to those HP printers, and it did not print,
but when I printed to an Epson computer (connected through USB), the
document printed successfully.

I also tried printing the test PDF on a separate, different computer
(also Ubuntu 9.10) to the HP printers, and the same printing error
occurs.

Printing to the HP printers worked with xpdf and Okular, though, and
worked perfectly fine on 9.04.

Is anyone else having issues with printing from Evince to printers that
are using the AppSocket/JetDirect protocol?

I haven't seen this noted in any of the other threads, but on my
computer, it seems that compiz works fine if I boot in recovery mode and
