[Bug 352825] [NEW] Problem accessing USB drive from Live USB

2009-03-31 Thread SF007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I created a Live USB with USB Startup disk creator, booted from it,
and when I try to access the USB flash drive (the Live USB) I get an
error:

Unable to mount location: can't mount file

The only work-around is to go to this location:
/cdrom
and now we can access the files on the Flash drive (but only in read-only mode)

Note 1 : This is not a problem on Thunar and dolphin (but the files are also
read-only in booth)
Note 2: Using cd2usb (windows tool) to create the Live USB produces the same
result
Note 3: Using root mode allows to write to the USB drive (on all file-managers)
Notes 4: The USB drive does not appear on:
/media

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 329292] Re: [jaunty] mute button does not work

2009-03-28 Thread SF007
I have made a new install of Ubuntu 9.04 beta (same hardware), and here is more
info:
-Sound is disabled by default: I must go to alsamixer and enable PCM-2
-Mute button on laptop keyboard does not work (mute icon appears, but keyboard
button only mutes PCM, leaving PCM-2 un-muted)
-Clicking the sound icon on the gnome-panel and clicking mute does not work
(happens the exact same thing as above)
-Yes, I am able to mute ALL sound using alsamixer
-Yes, sound itself seems to be fine

[Bug 325585] [NEW] Proprietary Nvidia drivers do not load on the Live USB

2009-02-04 Thread SF007
Public bug reported:

If I create a Live USB with the official Ubuntu tool (with persistency) and:
1-Boot from the Live USB
2-install the Nvidia graphics
3-reboot the Live USB
4-Problem: the drivers are not properly installed.

This also happens if I remaster an Ubuntu Live CD to include the drivers
(the drivers will not load on the Live CD).

Here is additional info I found:
Due to a strangeness in how casper/ubiquity work, the live cd backup will not
run fglrx for ati or nvidia for nvidia since the Ubuntu devs have put a hook
into it to disable it. I tried removing the hook and it worked ok for the lived
but was borked on the install. After thinking about this it seemed to make more
sense to leave the X config as probed and auto configuring since you may change
hardware even on a backup system. Once installed, you should just be able to
reconfigure xorg.conf and the accelerated drivers should work.

[Bug 217516] [NEW] [PulseAudio] does not remember settings for programs

If I'm using Firefox and for example some flash animation start playing sound,
I can mute only the flash in PulseAudio, leaving the media player with sound,

[Bug 217529] [NEW] PulseAudio: Ability to mute everything except allowed programs

2008-04-14 Thread SF007
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: padevchooser

In PulseAudio, it would be nice to have an option to mute all programs except
the ones allowed to produce sound, for example:
Mute everything except the media player, because sometimes there are some crazy
flash ads with sound... (very annoying!)
And disabling every potential annoyer is hard:
-sounds can come from many browsers
-each browser can have many plugins
-even non-browser programs can have annoying sounds
-and even if we disable all that, once the program is closed those settings
disappear! (Bug #217516)

I think many users would find this a very useful thing.
