[Bug 2077661] [NEW] Microphone Selection Module Stops Working After Kernel Update to 6.8.0-41

2024-08-22 Thread ali sh
Public bug reported:

Hello,

After updating to the following kernel versions:

linux-image-6.8.0-41-generic 6.8.0-41.41 amd64
linux-image-generic-hwe-24.04 6.8.0-41.41 amd64

I encountered an issue where the module that allows selecting
microphones (for example, in audio settings or via PulseAudio) stopped
functioning correctly. I had added the following module option to enable
microphone selection on my asus tp-550ld laptop:

options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi

This configuration worked perfectly in previous kernel versions,
allowing me to select and switch between different microphones. However,
after the update to kernel version 6.8.0-41, this functionality broke.

To resolve the issue temporarily, I reverted to the previous kernel
version:

linux-image-6.8.0-40-generic 6.8.0-40.40 amd64
After switching back to the earlier kernel, the microphone selection module is
working again as expected.

Please let me know if further information or logs are needed to
investigate this issue.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

[Bug 2008650] Re: missing symbol in modules prevent start of Xserver

2024-03-21 Thread sh
yes, the problem still exists and there're no special cmdlines, just the
systemd-standard-start-procedures.

just tried it on a fresh installation

and there's no reason, why the problem should have gone, because the
files of the installed xorgxrdp-packages are still the same out of 2022.

all packages are up to date

but meanwhile I had a workaround found for this problem by fixing the
elf-binaries manually (which shows, that the modules above are badly
linked):

# install pkg 'patchelf' and execute following on shell:
patchelf --add-needed /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libxorgxrdp.so
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/xrdpkeyb_drv.so
patchelf --add-needed /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libxorgxrdp.so
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/xrdpmouse_drv.so
patchelf --add-needed /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglamoregl.so
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/libxorgxrdp.so

I don't know, why this isn't needed on your system (maybe someone has done it?)

yes, unfortunately we still see this bug (else we haven't filed it
here).

so, when the given patch is already added in -23 and we're using -33, it
seems to be that that patch doesn't help for our problem, even the
behaviour is really similar.

so. should we file a bug at freedesktop?

apport-collect ignores local proxy and hangs.
apport-bug doesn't show any relevant information and does not find any
crash-reports (because there's noc crash, but only a dark screen)

all necessary info should be available in initial post.
if there is further detailled-information needed, give the command with textual
output, which we'll add here, soon.

for this bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105549
there seems to be a patch available which doesn't seem to be integrated
in last available xenial-kernel 4.15.0-33-generic.

please integrate it in next kernel-update.

[Bug 1759713] [NEW] xscreensaver eats keyboard-events after activation

2018-03-28 Thread sh-dvl
Public bug reported:

running xenial/16.04.3 with hwe-kernel with nomodeset (only possibility
for this board with intel j4105) + -X11 with xfce.

start remmina in either version (original-xenial, ppa and fresh from
git) and start a rdp-session in fullscreen.

wait for the time before xscreensaver blanks the screen.

after that, mouse still works well, but no keys will be transferred.

stopping xscreensaver will prevent any problem with keyboard (but let
the screen unsaved)

minimizing the rdp-session and then maximizing it again will also help,
but it

don't know, if any other applications have similar problems, because we
use this system 99% as thin-client.

Ubuntu 13.04 PulseAudio 3.0 (today's update) . If I run VLC sound
disappears completely in the system. Other players work normally. I need
to restart PulseAudio to get sound back.

Workaround is like in PulseAudio 2.x - set the Alternate rate to 44100

[Bug 1080701] Re: After 'Preparing to install Ubuntu' screen, raring installation hangs

2013-01-24 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
I did now step by step what you did. No result.
But with 24-Jan-2013 Ubuntu AMD 64 Bit image and with 'nomodeset' option
(because since 12.04 live system hangs with noveau drivers and my videocard)
IMHO it doesn't matter.

My system config:

PC
MB Asus Sabertooth x58 / i7 / 12 GB Memory / 64 GB SDD and 2 TB HDD / NVIDIA
GeForce GTX 580

Maybe you have any idea what is a problem?

[Bug 1080701] Re: After 'Preparing to install Ubuntu' screen, raring installation hangs

2013-01-24 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
@Shan Anand, your workaround didn't work for me :(

What I did:

1. boot from USB to Live image
2. Open Terminal
3. run command 'ps -ela'
4. find rsyslogd
5. run command: 'sudo kill ' (PID of rsyslogd)

But rsyslogd starting again in a moment with another PID.

If I run 'sudo rsyslogd -c5 -i -d' there will be 2 processes of rsyslogd
and killing the system one starts it again.

And installer hangs again...

What I did wrong?

[Bug 1079935] [NEW] Can't install 13.04 or launch the Live-CD

2012-11-16 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
Public bug reported:

I can't install Ubuntu 13.04.

After boot from flashdrive and choosing to install Ubuntu, or launching
"Try Ubuntu" option I see Ubuntu loading screen and then I'm getting an
error:

(initramfs) aufs mount failed

I really don't know what package it is affecting and I didn't find such
bug.

[Bug 1078945] [NEW] The input line of file name don't get focus automatically

When I take a screenshot and the "Save screenshot" window comes up the

[Bug 1078930] [NEW] Indicator applet do not getting blue when a message recieved

2012-11-14 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
Public bug reported:

This bug is related to bug #1065919 . Now notifications for Gmail boxes
are shown, but in most of cases indicator don't get blue. I can see a

Also When I choose a new mail in indicator applet in 12.04 Thunderbird

[Bug 1069232] Re: Sound lags when opening video files

2012-11-11 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
If any other media player (not only Totem) is using PulseAudio 2.0 and
don't have any problems, and VLC does. Maybe it would be logical to
assume that the problem is in VLC?

Please, don't be so agressive.

[Bug 1026426] Re: LibreOffice Unity integration (launcher and switcher) is broken

2012-11-03 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
@Trucoto, I confirm that there is such bug.

To reproduce:

1. Open Nautilus.
2. Go to the folder with several Writer files.
3. Open and close this files in random order for over 10 times.
4. You will see 2 icons on the launchbar. One with no icon, and one that is
correct.

The bug is quite random.

appears, but since the beginning of the audio track. So video and sound
are out of sync.

The workaround is to rewind the video at the beginning by using the
slider.

[Bug 1068061] Re: Almost all messages from Gmail boxes are duplicated in the Indicator-messages

2012-10-18 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
Yes, you right. But we are talking about default settings of Gmail box
and specifically about "Important" tag. And in this case almost every
inbox mail is tagged as "important". And here we have this duplicate
problem...

You are trying to tell me that it is not possible on client side to make
1 notification for specifically this default "Important" tag (folder)?
Or maybe make an option in the Thunderbird settings to combine 1
notification from inbox folder and 1 from "Important" folder. Or as
another option disable all notifications from Gmail folders except Inbox
folder for people that don't use tags in settings?

I'm only just an user :)

And it is hard for me to suggest something specific.

Perhaps like an exception specifically for Gmail boxes?

I think it is quite annoying issue. And it would be great if you, or
somebody find a way to fix this.

Maybe it is possible just to ignore it in notifications? Because, every
message that gets to the folder "Important" also gets to Inbox folder.

[Bug 1067274] Re: Annoying behavior of a boinc-manager window

2012-10-18 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
I have opened a new bug, because the first issue is affecting not only
boinc-manager.

** Description changed:

  To reproduce:

- The first problem:
- 1. Open boinc-manager.
- 2. Switch to a "Full view" (Shift+Ctrl+A)
- 3. It is not fully maximized, I need to maximize it every time I open it.
-
- The second problem:
  1. Open boinc-manager.
  2. Switch to a "Full view" (Shift+Ctrl+A)
  3. Open some other windows (for ex. nautilus, firefox).
  4. Minimize boinc-manager.
  5. Close all other windows to show the desktop.
  6. Boinc will come up by it self.

  P. S.: Boinc is coming up when it is minimized and I'm trying to turn
  off or reboot my OS.

[Bug 1068129] [NEW] Problem with maximizing some windows

2012-10-18 Thread Dmitriy "~SH~ [ms]" Fedorov
Public bug reported:

I have an issue with some windows in Unity.

Windows must be fully maximized using global menu, but I need to
maximize it every time I open it.

The examples of such windows:

- boinc-manager in full view mode (screenshot #1);
- Figaro's Password Manager (screenshot #2);
- Skype chat window (screenshot #3);

Every time I need to maximize it when I open them.
