Yes you can close it. Completely forgot about this. Don't know if it's
still happening as I am on a mac now :).

[Bug 1186616] [NEW] Black marks when moving mouse over the score on the lower part of the screen

2013-06-01 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

See the picture for the behavior.

When moving the mouse over that is what remains behind where the mouse
went over. Going over again seems to add more black vertical lines
filling in what is left of the white vertical parts.

[Bug 1176550] [NEW] task manager highlights windows incorrectly

2013-05-05 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

For example when somebody contacts me on pidgin a new highlighted window
appears in the task manager. When I click it there are two types of
reactions. Sometimes it gets selected and removes the highlight but when
I move to a new window it rehighlights even though no new message has
been passed and other times it doesn't get selected and remains
highlighted even though I selected the window and I am looking at it and
when I change focus to another window it remains highlighted.

I have added a screenshot to highlight the issue. Another thing to note
is that the windows in the task manager seem incomplete at the corners
and there is no rectangle around them.

[Bug 1011123] [NEW] Creating a folder in save or save as dialog does not work

2012-06-10 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

When I get the save dialog or save as dialog and press the create folder
button a new folder is created and I get a selected untitled folder so I
can over write it with what name I want to name it with. The problem is
that when I press any key nautilus jumps to searching for a file or
folder starting with that letter instead of overwriting the folder name.
So whatever I do I get a new folder always with Untitled Folder name. I
have to rename it manually afterwards. I worked until 11.10 and the bug
is present since the beta of 12.04.

[Bug 391628] Re: Everything gets swapped out after resume from suspend using fglrx drivers

2012-06-09 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
The bug is still very present. It seems that if I don't have any memory
swapped out then it resumes fast. If I have memory swapped I wait for a
few minutes before I get back control of my computer. Also under this
heavy load the mouse either stutters or dies completely for a few
minutes until the swapping is done. Is mouse stuttering normal under
heavy HDD activity?

[Bug 980727] Re: Cannot connect to certain websites through a roline(rotronic) router

2012-05-17 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
I've tried an older version of the kernel from around september (when I
can be sure it worked) and I still have the same problem. So it actually
could be the router falling apart. But it still doesn't make any sense
because windows is working quite well... Something from the router is
interacting wrongly with my Ubuntu and makes it not be able to take
connections from google after 2 days. Any ideas what can I use to
'debug' the router?

[Bug 980727] Re: Cannot connect to certain websites through a roline(rotronic) router

2012-05-01 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
No I can't. I had 11.10 with the latest version of kernel as of around
December 15. I used this version without updating for around 115 days
after which I updated and restarted the computer. Since then i have this
problem. During those 115 days there were more than one kernel updates
so I cannot know for sure which one introduced the problem.

I have tested with the current mainline kernel(linux-
image-3.4.0-999-generic_3.4.0-999.201204260409_amd64.deb) in precise
pangolin and I still have the problem.

[Bug 980727] [NEW] Cannot connect to certain websites through a roline(rotronic) router

2012-04-13 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

I have a toshiba laptop from about 2008 connected through cable to a
router (roline rotronic router almost no name since I couldn't find
firmware upgrades). The router is connected to the isp through pppoe.

I cannot connect to google.com or any sites related to google.com such
as youtube or sites that use google-analytics. It either times out or it
finally connects after about 5 minutes in waiting. This behavior starts
about 2 days after booting, so the first about 48 hours everything is
peachy.

I have tried using firefox, opera, chromium, lynx, wget everything. Ping
works and it's not a DNS problem since I tried the google 8.8.8.8,
8.8.4.4 addresses and it doesn't help in any way.

I tried restarting the router. Nothing. Modified the mt from 1500 to
1492 like on the pppoe on the router. Nothing. Tried 1464. Now no sites
work. Back on 1492, everything works except google.

I install wireshark and see that when I wait for google to load I get a
lot of TCP previous segment lost errors to google ip. The dns keeps
trying different google servers with different ips but all have the same
problem: TCP previous segment lost. After a few minutes it either times
out or it finds a server that responds. But if I try again then I have
to wait another 5 minutes.

Rebooting the sytem works. For 2 days that is. Using windows both xp and
7 doesn't exhibit the problem. Other windows machines on the network
don't exhibit the issue. I closed all other machines so that I am alone
connected to the router. Nothing. After a few hours it might start
working again all by itself and after another couple of days it starts
having the problem again.

I reinstalled the system from scratch. Formatted even the home partition
hoping it was some damn configuration file. Still can't connect.

Using startpage.com instead of google.com or google.ro (I am from
Romania) works.

I had the system working for months when I installed some updates
including a kernel update a couple of months ago. From then on ubuntu
11.10 started exhibiting this problem. I do not remember what kernel
version it was but I updated to 3.2 I think after I tried the precise
pangolin beta and it still exhibited the issue.

Last thing I tried now: I got rid of the router and connected directly
to internet using pppoe configuration from ubuntu. Guess what now google
and everything else works. I got back behind the router and you guessed
it: everything works except google. So it seems there is some bad
interaction between my ubuntu and that router! But then again it worked
for months and windows xp and 7 both work like a charm. Any ideas what
the kernel programmers might have changed in the tcp stack (I assume it
must be something about the interaction between linux stack and the
router stack)?

[Bug 947881] [NEW] VirtualBox crash when trying to share a mounted point folder

2012-03-06 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

I am not sure if this bug is in VirtualBox or is something deeper.

I mounted a .img file to /media and then tried to share it to the
windows xp running in VirtualBox. When I selected the folder VirtualBox
crashed meaning it wouldn't respond to anything with the windows window
blackened and the shared folder window also dead. I had to kill all
processes linked with VirtualBox from the terminal and when the
VirtualBox was zombified I still couldn't get rid of the VirtualBox
opened windows. So I tried xkill to kill the opened windows since
(theoretically) everything associated with VirtualBox was dead. xkill
did the trick and everything closed. Then I went to the mount point with
nautilus and when I clicked to open the folder nautilus froze with
Uninterruptible trying to do I/O on the folder I guess. From what I
read it is impossible to kill an Uninterruptible process so I tried to
unmount the damn mounted .img but it said the device is busy. I finally
manage to unmount by using umount -l trying to force some exception in
the I/O in the kernel but still nothing, nautilus is Uninterruptible. I
tried to remount the folder but I couldn't since it said it's busy, so
now I am stuck with an open nautilus process that cannot be killed!

I do not know whether this is a VirtualBox bug, a mount bug, a nautilus
bug or a kernel bug! Any help killing nautilus is appreciated since
rebooting is not an option!

Also running ps aux | grep nautilus I get
user 23726 0.2 0.0 738636 1296 ?DFeb26 27:59 /usr/bin/nautilus
Doesn't this mean that nautilus is Defunct? So why am I getting Uninterruptible
in System Monitor?

2012-03-03 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Yep I just got it also today! The thing is it worked. Last time I used
it was maybe a week ago at most. Now it doesn't work anymore. Could it
be some recent update? I have to mention I haven't restarted the system
in over 100 days now and can't restart it to test if maybe some updates
got mangled.

[Bug 938234] [NEW] The system monitor eats to many cpu cycles

[Bug 900052] [NEW] Leaving Eclipse open for about 48 hours makes it crash

2011-12-04 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

If I code for a day and leave it open for the night and then keep coding
the next day at some point when autocomplete turns on on ctrl-space
everything freezes. I also lose code since last save. It's not critical
but I think programs should work without crashing every other day or
preventive restarts

This is the error that I get in the error window:

eclipse.buildId=I20110613-1736
java.version=1.6.0_23
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86, WS=gtk, NL=en_US

2011-11-10 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
In 11.10 it seems solved but in 11.04 I don't know since I upgraded the
day Oneiric was launched. But until I upgraded the bug was still there.

since I upgraded to the latest so I think it's best if this bug is
closed.

not happen with the Desktop CD because it did not install the fglrx

[Bug 877831] [NEW] When returning from an application view to category list it scrolls back to the top of the list

2011-10-18 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

If the user goes let's say to education category then browses till half
of the list and clicks on more info and then back it scrolls up to the
top of the list. This is quite annoying as not everybody remembers the
last position before clicking more info and makes scrolling for apps
rather hard.

[Bug 870560] Re: installing fglrx (post-release updates) fails

2011-10-14 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
This bug affects me too and I have noticed that I cannot use Unity.
Could it be because of this bug? Unity 2D works just fine but normal
Unity just loads a top bar that says File Edit View etc and nothing else
appears. No bar on the left side and I cannot click on anything on the
desktop because the whole thing crashes. The mouse still works but
everything else is dead.

[Bug 809643] Re: If only one song in the playlist sometimes after finishing playing it starts again

2011-08-05 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
I cannot yet recreate that issue in debug mode (and I have been running
in debug mode since I posted this bug) but I found something that may be
related somehow. After finishing the last song in a playlist in starts
playing I don't know what song since the song title doesn't change. It's
like it jumps to another directory and starts a song from there. The
last 2 or 3 songs in rhythmbox-debug.txt exhibited this behavior. The
strange thing is that I can get this bug to show only extremely rarely.

For example I listened to Blondie-Maria and after the song ended it
started another song(I don't know which since I have a large music
library and I haven't listened to them all yet). In rhythmbox-debug.txt
I see Blondie-Maria as the last song played even though it wasn't.

The only thing that I noticed and I may be wrong is that if I get a
stutter in a song by let's say changing from a tab to another that is
not in main memory in firefox (a small fraction of a second sound hitch)
then this issue gets exhibited. Only trouble is I don't always get sound
stutters so testing for this bug is made even harder.

[Bug 697358] Re: Regression in window list applet (wnck-applet) behavior

2011-06-18 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
I still have a bug where when I open a window maximized I still need to
focus it so it gets right in the center of the screen. It's as if it
starts 2-3 pixels to the right or left (on the other side I get white
lines or garbage) and only when I refocus i get the window to move to
center position and take the whole screen correctly. If you take a look
at the attachment you will see two white lines on the left and right of
the window going up to the tab menu. Should I report a new bug or is it
still in this regression?

[Bug 786371] [NEW] CodeBlocks just closed while clicking find occurences of some method

2011-05-21 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: codeblocks

The program just killed itself...no traces..no error..nothing..just
disappeared after trying to find occurrences of a method. I had lots of
tabs open, just looking at some code, never ran or debugged anything in
it and I wasn't editing anything. Just reading some code. This kind of
crash could result in loss of data.

I also have to mention that while loading the project I get not
responding for a while until the application manages to open some tens
of tabs. Then everything works ok. I also get not responding while
closing the app while waiting to close all tabs.

[Bug 774581] Re: Gnome Panel shows in fullscreen mode

the command vlc --no-embedded-video seriously affects everything: the
video no longer plays (I hear the sound but see nothing but the vlc icon
on the screen), the window moves from small to fullscreen but still
displays the title bar and the default vlc icon while playing the movie
(and still no image just sound). I cannot watch anything with this
parameter. And what is worse I cannot get out of vlc from fullscreen
unless I close the application.

This is the output from the terminal when running vlc --no-embedded-
video

[Bug 779689] Re: The clock on the panel colors itself even if other applet is activated

2011-05-10 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Looks like it's not just the clock, but a more generic bug: Any icon
previously clicked will light up if and indicator panel is expanded. So
for example if the last icon clicked was the start firefox icon then the
shutdown panel was clicked, the panel expanded with the usual suspend,
restart etc but the back of the firefox icon lights up. When the
indicator is closed the icon also switches off.

[Bug 767095] Re: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet for qt softwares (e.g. Skype)

2011-05-07 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
I noticed something interesting: sometimes the system boots up very fast
(most of the times) and sometimes it takes a while (not just a little
longer but a lot longer). When the system boots fast I get 1 px icons
and when it takes its time it shows the icons correctly (both Skype and
Vlc). From what I understand it's the metapackage ureadahead that does
this fluctuations in the time it takes to boot, and maybe it influences
the order in which things are loaded, thus leading to the gnome-panel
showing the icons correctly for that session.

[Bug 697358] Re: regression in window list applet (wnck-applet) behavior

2011-05-07 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
lores: So does your show desktop icon change it size from time to time
from small to big? I ask because I have noticed the same bug on my
machine, it boots small but after a while gets big, after changing the
resolution by entering a game for example. I need to test this more
before I get a definite answer but this is how I see it until now.
