[Bug 1915774] [NEW] Sudo owner changed to user #2001 after update
Public bug reported: This is a configuration bug that affects the hirsute-proposed version of sudo. This bug causes sudo when re-configuring, to assign to an unused user id that is neither the end user nor root. The result is that sudo will refuse to run, returning an error message that is displayed below: sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit set The reconfiguration is the last process that occurs in a normal update though because sudo will not be usable at this time, the su command with root password must be used instead for accessing root privileges. If you have already upgraded from hirsute-release to hirsute-proposed and you are affected by this bug, please reinstall, and in release do sudo passwd root and then configure the password for the root account and then once update use su for the time being. Once the bug is fixed however please for security reasons delete the root account and use sudo for root privelages.
