I confirm that all electron apps (build with electron version < 14) does
not open devTools. So, for some applications this is critical (for
example it is one of main function of react-native-debugger).

2018-06-06 Thread Sergei
I've checked iowait using iotop during lags and revealed no spikes or something
like that. So it's not a performance problem at all. I believe gstreamer is
just dropping frames due to some bugs.
I had 17.10 installed and had no issue that time.

I don't think you should release this because this produces more critical bug.
This bug has some kind of workaround (cancel button), but I will have to
disable updates if there is an upcoming update that will totally break an
ability to switch users without any workaround.
I believe I'm not the only one who has multiple users on my PC.

[Bug 1769761] [NEW] Sometimes session doesn't start after success login (gnome, 18.04)

2018-05-07 Thread Sergei
Public bug reported:

This happens sometimes (~70% to happen) after I upgrdaded my ubuntu to 18.04.

Same here. It's better than OOTB but still requires switching back after
Ctrl + Shift is pressed.

[Bug 1550779] Re: [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg glitches

2018-03-25 Thread Sergei Mikhailov
@Tomasz Przybysz
i915.enable_rc6=0 as a workaround doesn't seem to work.

I have similar symptoms as Angelo Lisco. I leave laptop on overnight and
sometimes in the morning it got frozen with same underrun error message
in logs.

enable_rc6 is definitely set to 0:
$ cat /sys/class/drm/card0/power/rc6_enable
0

And the bug is still there with kernel 4.15.10 =( just a heads up

[Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-02-28 Thread Sergei Beilin
Updating to `proposed` did not help me. I've tried uninstalling/purging
`nvidia-*` and installing it back, still having the black screen.

Tried to switch to Intel adapter using prime-select, it complains that
it's not supported.

Purging nvidia-390 and installing nvidia-340 works (though Nvidia always
runs on top clock, even on battery, overheating my knees, and always on
100% brightness)

Dell Latitude 6430, NV520.

[Bug 815996] Re: Desktop occasionally freezes/locks up when switching workspaces

2017-07-15 Thread Sergei S. Rublev
I am currently not in Ubuntu, but in Fedora. And I am having the alike
troubles with Compiz task switcher. Both Application Switcher and Static
Application Switcher. Happens every time I switch. Restarting X helps.
Laptop ATI video card. Occurred after upgrading Fedora to 26, earlier it
was OK.

I was having such errors in the past: with some Compiz plugins related
to workspace and task switching. About 2-3 years ago on a PC with NVidia
card. I use both Fedora and Ubuntu — not sure which distro it was
(currently I just couldn't make Compiz work in Ubuntu on that PC).

[Bug 1660618] [NEW] Gedit crashes on attempt to set the cursor position in the middle of the text.

2017-01-31 Thread Sergei Pikalev
Public bug reported:

BQ Aquaris m10.

Suddenly found that gedit is too buggy. Trying to fix typos on 2-3 words
back, I try to move cursor position to necessary place and edit the
text. After I return cursor to the end of the text to continue typing,
gedit corrupts text disordering all newly entered chars (placing them
not under cursor but in some strange place).

After several re-positioning (trying to fix the situation) of cursor
gedit crashes. Just disappears from screen. Looses all changes.

Hi.

And suddenly I've found that there are no printing ability. At all! I
cannot add/setup printer, I cannot print.

I really need it. I need to print from web browser, from pdf viewer as I
can do it from android, ios or winmobile devices. Moreover, it's really
more than funny to release an OS without printing support. How is it
possible to miss BASIC functionality? Fix it URGENTLY please.

[Bug 1660463] [NEW] Ubuntu touch browser becomes out-of-date too fast.

2017-01-30 Thread Sergei Pikalev
Public bug reported:

Day by day more and more favourite sites could not be shown with ubuntu
touch browser on Aquaris M10.

The external apperances of this are different. On some sites JavaScript
does not work on my tablet (bad layouts, some input fields does not show
the soft keyboard, especially password fields, problems with navigation
over input form fields), sometimes text is not layouted/formatted at all
(for example, ulmart.ru).

Some sites (which use captcha, for example) say "use supported browser"
(they worked fine a year ago).

Some sites says that sertificate is not checked, and does not show them
any more (aliexpress.com).

I do not experience this on other divices, even with pretty old android
4.2 - 4.4, on iOS tablet, on Windows 8.1 tablet, and of course
ondesktops with different OSes.

And finally I found that it's unique browser I cannot manage individual
coockies! It's amazing!

So currently I can read/use just 3-4 sites of my usual and favourite
30-40. It's pretty funny to own absolutely useless network device.

So, what happened tu ubuntu touch browser? It there any way to bring it
to working condition?

Please do not advice me to use firefox instead. It's extremely hard to
navigate in tablet mode.

[Bug 1572801] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10

2017-01-30 Thread Sergei
It uses less RAM than 16.10 and 16.04. Difference is about 500 MB on start and
1Gb after launching different applications.
It's hard for me to compare 14.04 and 17.04, because it's 2.5 years passed. But
I think moving to systemd increased RAM usage anyway. And some new versions of
daemons and libraries can use more RAM than their 14.04 versions.

[Bug 1620451] [NEW] package php7.0-mysql 7.0.8-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 135

2016-09-05 Thread Sergei Bibikov
Public bug reported:

None of the php7.0 packages can be properly configured by dpkg returning
error 135, while all other packages, including php-ones seem to work
fine.

Example: php-common installs and configures OK, php7.0-common installs
correctly, but dpkg reports error 135 after trying to read postinst
files. Temporary removing postinst allows dpkg to config, but php.ini is
not generated and there may be more configuration issues.

Same for php-cgi and php7.0-cgi.

Php command now works from command line (generated phpinfo), but not on
a web-server.

The occasional I/O errors did not affect the other OS running on this
computer.

Re: [Bug 1295670] Re: Nautilus doesn't save items view

2015-06-18 Thread Sergei Solo
Actually, that function was in nautilus till ubuntu 12.10 I think. I found
the most simple way to restore habitable functionality by installing Nemo
(Nautilus fork)

чт, 18 июня 2015, 10:21, Tamir tami...@bk.ru:

I agree, I even think such a function (save items view) was very
helpful, as it adds to the flexibility of the file manager. Maybe create
a separate report card with a request to add this feature in Nautilus?

[Bug 1301225] Re: Parts of Text disappear in Firefox and Thunderbird Editors /Text Areas

2014-12-01 Thread Sergei Ivanov
I observed this bug in the previous LTS release (12.04?) and I confirm
it is still here in Ubuntu 14.04.1 (Thunderbird 31.2.0).

System details:
x86_64
nvidia graphics, nouveau driver
KDE enviroment
Happened in both Thunderbird and Firefox in Ubuntu 12.04. Under 14.04.1, I
observed this bug in Thunderbird but not (yet?) in Firefox.

Don't know how to reproduce it reliably, but it happens sufficiently often to
be annoying.
When it happens, I usually force a window refresh by switching to another
(fullscreen) window and back.

Re: [Bug 1320157] Re: user space gnome-terminal overflows / file system

2014-05-21 Thread Sergei Vorobyov
gnome-terminal stores the scrollback content in a temporary file, opened
at the standard location which is /tmp by default, overridable with the
 standard TMPDIR environment variable

this default/standard location /tmp is certainly inadmissible, since it's
an obvious welcome hackers breach. Users should be restricted to use their
own quotas, even for the g-t. If there are thousands applications being
regularly used on a system which behave similarly, should all of them be
audited and reconfigured against such gotchas?

May be unlimited should be understood as unlimited within
 reasonable limits?

g-t tries to do what you ask from this. If you ask this to remember
everything, it tries to store everything. What do you mean by
reasonable limits? E.g. 1 million lines? Feel free to set this in
 gnome-terminal's preferences :)

this:

when I run the same application with

the / partition does not overflow

[Bug 1319667] [NEW] root file system 100% full, goes 52% after reboot

2014-05-15 Thread Sergei Vorobyov
Public bug reported:

I am running several I/O intensive applications creating and deleting
many files on the separate /home partition. After about a day of
operation my root file system / containing everything except /home goes
100% full, although running ncdu -x from / shows just about 50%
fullness. 100% goes down to (correct) 52% after a reboot. Note that all
my files are created within the mounted /home partition. I do not run
any specific process as a root (beyond those of a stock Ubuntu 14.04
distribution).

2014-05-15 Thread Sergei Vorobyov
1. I don't keep many files open forever, they are duly closed after
being used. Many created, filled up, closed, uploaded, and erased.

2. FIles get created on /home

3. / get overflown, not /home

4. If your explanation were correct, /home would have been overflown.

5. I think you explanation (not my report) is invalid. Please return the
status to to be investigated/explained

[Bug 1318937] [NEW] aptitude update/upgrade erased smb.conf, to the initial state

aptitude update
aptitude upgrade

I expected my /etc/samba/smb.conf preserved

4.

It was overwritten by the default

[Bug 1318937] [NEW] aptitude update/upgrade erased smb.conf, to the initial state

2014-05-13 Thread Sergei Vorobyov
Public bug reported:

A routine

aptitude update
aptitude upgrade

erased the smb.conf file; the definitions of my all shares simply
disappeared.

There were no question asked, but I saw (on the screen) samba packages
configured and the samba server restarted

1.

root@fpu:/etc/samba# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release:14.04

3.

I expected my /etc/samba/smb.conf preserved

4.

It was overwritten by the default

2.

[Bug 1184262] Re: times out too early, stuck in PrepareForSleep, causing network and other services to not resume

2014-03-21 Thread Sergei Solo
In latest version of Ubuntu 14.04 this bug not fixed!
I can't enable wireless networking after my laptop resumed from suspend.

p.s. suspend turning with some errors too:
1) It take more time (in Ubuntu 12.04 laptop suspend faster)
2) before display turns off and laptop become full suspended - I see Ubuntu
lock screen and hear Ubuntu notice sound.

2014-03-21 Thread Sergei Solo
This bug affects me too! (see more details
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295673)

And I think it associated with
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd-shim/+bug/1184262
Becouse:

When laptop suspending, before display turns off and laptop become fully
suspended - I see Default Ubuntu lock screen and hear Ubuntu notice
sound.

May be somewhere added second lock screen call. Becouse it seems like
lock screen calls before suspend and after wake up...

1. Open any folder
2. Change view from Icons to List (Click by menu View - List or Ctrl+1).

2014-03-21 Thread Sergei Solo
It seems that gnome-session reloading before suspend. Because when I
click to Suspend - display blink with black screen ones and after, about
4-5 seconds I see ordinary desktop and folders.

Second lock screen process name (Gnome Lock screen) is gnome-
screensaver-dialog.

[Bug 886496] Re: KDE Screenlock renders machine unusable since software-upgrade of Nov. 4th, 2011

2013-06-18 Thread Sergei Datsenko
I have this bug after upgrade to kubuntu 13.04.
After unlock both notebook's and attached monitor screens remain black (with
some artifacts) and X-server eats CPU. After a minute or two it may eventually
unlock the screen. On ps via ssh it looks like this:

dosya 2578 0.0 0.1 515792 21600 ?Sl 15:34 0:01 \_
kdeinit4: ksmserver [kdeinit]
dosya 2585 3.2 0.7 943424 94536 ?Sl 15:34 11:35 | \_ kwin
-session 10d4.
dosya20107 0.4 0.0 0 0 ?Z 21:22
0:01 | \_ [kscreenlocker_g] defunct

It is not 100% reproducible, though I noticed some correlation between running
chromium and this bug. I suppose kscreenlocker hangs when some OpenGL-enabled
application is running.

I tried different fglrx versions but it didn't help.
