In the future, please post such bugs to the upstream project's bug
tracker. It was pure chance I saw it here.

[Bug 1735135] [NEW] plasmashell taking 94% CPU

2017-11-29 Thread Shachar Shemesh
Public bug reported:

Everything appears to be working fine, but I notice that plasmashell is
taking a total of 94% CPU over 4 cores/hyperthreads.

[Bug 699744] Re: fakeroot-ng can't ptrace since maverick

2014-08-12 Thread Shachar Shemesh
Ubuntu's current version is 14.04. Version 12.04 is two years out of
date. The comment clearly states that the fix was released in version
13.10.

I see no error in the report's current status. If you believe the fix
should be back ported to 12.04 as part of the LTS, then I'm not sure
what the procedure to do that is. It is, however, outside my powers to
do so.

[Bug 1186720] Re: fakeroot-ng fails with 'Operation not permitted'

2013-06-02 Thread Shachar Shemesh
This bug is, most probably, a duplicate of bug #699744. Upstream already
fixed it (but, of course, it will not be back-ported to 12.04 unless
someone actually does that).

Try the workaround present in that bug. If that doesn't solve your
problem, please reopen this bug.

Thanks,
Shachar

[Bug 1186720] Re: fakeroot-ng fails with 'Operation not permitted'

2013-06-02 Thread Shachar Shemesh
The workaround is to set the kernel.yama.ptrace_scope prctl (there is
also some /proc path, probably /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope) to 1.
If that solves your problem, then it is the same bug (more precisely,
an incompatibility of the Ubuntu kernel).

The gcc-4.7 requirement is, I'm afraid, an actual one. Fakeroot-ng 0.18
is written in C++11, and that is the earliest version of gcc that
supports enough of the standard to compile it. If there are other C++
compilers in your version (llvm? I do not run Ubuntu, so I simply don't
know), one of them might work.

Hope this helps,
Shachar

[Bug 625664] Re: fakeroot-ng not working with WINE

2013-04-08 Thread Shachar Shemesh
I should point out that your expected results are incorrect. Fakeroot-ng
(nor, for that matter, fakeroot) do not allow you to do anything you are
not otherwise allowed to do.

If this is still relevant, do try out privbind, also written by me,
which allows you to do just what you wanted to do here.
