[Bug 1581277] [NEW] fglrx failed to upgrade
Public bug reported: I was running apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade on a friend's ubuntu system (Trusty). The system had not been updated in a long time, so the list of packages to be downloaded was huge (~500MB for updates and ~300MB for upgrades) and due to a slow internet connection, I had left it overnight to download. The updates were over by the time I slept, the upgrades had been downloaded by the time I woke up. When I woke up, the setup was stuck on various fglrx configuration files on the system which it determined had been changed, and wanted to know whether to keep the original files or update with new ones. I chose to keep the original files. Mid-way through the installation, apport popped up saying an error had occured. The script in the terminal went on running, but once I clicked on "Report Problem..." on the apport window, the script displayed an error regarding fglrx (but continued running till the end, after which it said "errors were encountered while processing: fglrx" and then stopped). [Bug 1354067] [NEW] Auto-Login service for GMail accounts gives Applications can no longer access online account error
Public bug reported: The auto-login service for GMail accounts gives Applications can no longer access online accounts error everytime it attempts to connect. It also cannot sustain connections for other online services (facebook, yahoo, etc.) and requires me to grant access to the services again and again. I can confirm my passwords are correct. Also, granting access to yahoo mail and facebook works flawlessly, but the GMail 'Grant Access' interface is buggy, and just doesn't work. On entering password and clicking 'Done' it brings back the same screen, as though nothing happened. Over and over again. If you click cancel a few times, it brings you back to the screen with the list of online accounts, while it attempts to connect to the services, in vain. Also, overall the friends service is buggy. It doesn't show me notifications from facebook, nor has it synced events from my google calenders. I cannot tell you when this problem started exactly, neither can i guess what might have caused the problem. If you need some log files, please tell me, i'll upload them asap. I don't have accounts in many of the services listed there, so i might not be able to help you with other services. I really hope there's a solution to this, because its always lovely to see a well polished desktop environment :) I use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) Version of 'friends' package installed: 0.2.0+14.04.20140217.1-0ubuntu1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: friends-dispatcher 0.2.0+14.04.20140217.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.47-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.3 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Aug 7 20:47:49 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-20 (108 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release amd64 (20140417) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: friends UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: friends (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1354067 Title: Auto-Login service for GMail accounts gives Applications can no longer access online account error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/friends/+bug/1354067/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1297099] [NEW] wifi not working after system crash; *-network DISABLED
Public bug reported: I have a machine which had ubuntu 12.04 preinstalled, and i did a fresh install of ubuntu 13.04 a few months ago, and had to manually install the drivers for the wireless adapter. The wifi and ethernet worked flawlessly after that, until last night, when i was working on some ftp work for my website, and i started uploading a 50mb file, and the system hung. I used the system reset method of Ctrl+Alt+SysRq+R-E-I-S-U-B. When the system rebooted, the wireless wasn't working, and in the indicator applet it said device not ready under the wireless section. Initially, even the ethernet wasn't working, but after a little while, it automatically started working, thankfully! I ran a few commands in the terminal, and i'm pasting the outputs below. rfkill list all 0: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no 1: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Root Complex 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Richland [Radeon HD 8450G] 00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Trinity HDMI Audio Controller 00:04.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Root Port 00:05.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Root Port 00:07.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Root Port 00:10.0 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB XHCI Controller (rev 09) 00:10.1 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB XHCI Controller (rev 09) 00:11.0 SATA controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH SATA Controller [AHCI mode] (rev 40) 00:12.0 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB OHCI Controller (rev 11) 00:12.2 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB EHCI Controller (rev 11) 00:13.0 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB OHCI Controller (rev 11) 00:13.2 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB EHCI Controller (rev 11) 00:14.0 SMBus: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH SMBus Controller (rev 16) 00:14.2 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH Azalia Controller (rev 01) 00:14.3 ISA bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH LPC Bridge (rev 11) 00:14.4 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH PCI Bridge (rev 40) 00:14.5 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH USB OHCI Controller (rev 11) 00:18.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 0 00:18.1 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 1 00:18.2 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 2 00:18.3 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 3 00:18.4 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 4 00:18.5 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 5 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. [Bug 1249468] [NEW] Screen Flickering and display problems
Public bug reported: On doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 on a system which previously had 12.04, using a USB stick, I booted my HP ProBook 445 laptop (AMD A6-5350 chip with Radeon HD Graphics) to find that some launcher icons were flashing on and off, and the screen generally seemed to be flickering, with the icons in the system tray and the launcher blinking. The system itself was working fast, but there seemed to be something wrong with the display. A couple of minutes after it booted completely, the Update Manager started up, but its windows were flickering, and it was difficult to read text written inside the window. After it completed updating, i rebooted the laptop, and things seemed to flickering less than earlier. So i thought i'd open a simple application, like Files, and see if the display was still awry. It still was. I could see occassional streaks and dark lines across the screen, and the display seemed to have some serious internal error. A long press of the Super Key opens the Unity help window, as we know, and when i long-pressed the Super Key, the screen starting behaving weird, with text and icons disappearing and reappearing randomly across the screen. It definitely wasn't fun to see, and it definitely didn't seem like everything was fine. It was just not what one would expect off a fresh install of the latest Ubuntu OS. I cannot attach screenshots, because whenever i try to take screenshots of a weird looking screen, the screenshot is either never taken, or if taken, everything looks perfect in the picture.
