[Bug 1771237] [NEW] Screen not locked when coming out of suspend, and VirtualBox is in full-window

2018-05-14 Thread Shoham Peller via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

To reproduce on a laptop:
1. Open a virtual machine using VirtualBox (Windows 10 machine, not sure if it
matters)
2. Enter full-screen mode
3. Close the laptop's lid
4. Wait a few seconds, and open the lid

The session should be locked and you should see the lock screen. But instead
you can see the virtual machine and use it.
After ~20 seconds, or after you exit the full-screen mode, the session is
locked.

Maybe the virtual machine gets the ACPI signal somehow? But then why
does the screen lock after a few seconds?

[Bug 1613025] [NEW] Lock screen doesn't allow to switch language

2016-08-14 Thread Shoham Peller
Public bug reported:

I have English and Hebrew languages on my computer, and to switch between them,
the key binding is alt+shift.
When my system is on the lock screen (not the switch account screen, lock
screen), sometimes I can't switch languages. I'm trying to switch from Hebrew
to English to type in my password, and when I hit alt+shift, the lock screen
suddenly disappears, and I see my screen for a second, then my screen goes
black for a second, and I go back to the lock screen. The language is still on
Hebrew, and I still can't change it to English.
To bypass it, I can either change the language using the mouse, or to hit
"switch account" with the mouse and then I can log back in.

[Bug 1448747] Re: Auto screen lock doesnt work

2015-05-12 Thread Shoham Peller
After debugging a bit, the bug seems in gnome. The code successfully runs:
g_settings_set (self-priv-lock_settings, lock-delay, u, delay);
and in the shell I can indeed see:
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.screensaver lock-delay
uint32 30

So maybe there's something wrong with gnome? Or maybe gnome can't lock
the unity session?

[Bug 1377847] Re: unity screen saver no longer blanks nor locks automatically

2015-05-12 Thread Shoham Peller
This bug still happens in a freshly installed, fully patched Ubuntu - on both
version 15.04 and 14.04. Hadn't tested on 14.10
On both versions the session is not locked after the time specified in
unity-control-center.
ctrl+alt+L works on both

Ubuntu 14.04:
unity-settings-daemon 14.04.0+14.04.20140606-0ubuntu2
unity-control-center 14.04.3+14.04.20140922-0ubuntu1
gnome-desktop3 3.8.4-0ubuntu3.1

Ubuntu 15.04:
unity-settings-daemon is 15.04.1+15.04.20150408-0ubuntu1
unity-control-center is 15.04.0+15.04.20150410-0ubuntu1
gnome-desktop3 is 3.14.1-1ubuntu2

I think the Fixed Released state needs to be reverted

[Bug 1363151] Re: [Gigabyte H55M-UD2H] After booting from live-cd, choosing Try Ubuntu and using the system for some time, the system freezes

2014-09-10 Thread Shoham Peller
Thank you Christopher for your help. I have a full Ubuntu installation
of course, but every time I show my friend how cool is Ubuntu with a
liveCd on their computers, it freezes, and kills their excitement.
That's why I want to help get it fixed.

I've updated my bios, but it didn't help.
What happened is same as always, I've rebooted to an Ubuntu 14.04.01 LTS CD, in
the welcome screen I've chosen Try Ubuntu, my system booted up and everything
seemed to work, but after leaving my computer for a few hours, I came back to a
black screen with a freezed mouse pointer, and nothing I could do except hard
rebooting my computer.

The commands you asked for:
$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
F11
08/20/2010

I don't know why you've decided it has anything to do with the bios, but this
happened in every computer I've ever tried Ubuntu on, including several laptops
and desktops from different manufacturers. I don't believe they all had the
same bios.
If you'd like, I can try and restore this behavior on other computers, so
you'll see it happens on a lot of computers from different manufacturers. What
information would you want from those computers?

Thank you again

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2013-12-16 Thread Shoham Peller
@Daniel: That sounds awesome! Really looking forward to it.
Just one question:

 1) Support scrolling through search w/mouse wheel

What does that mean? There is no search result.. Do you simply mean that
the mouse wheel should continue to function while the search box is
present?

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2013-12-16 Thread Shoham Peller
@Daniel: I see.
Are you sure this is the behaviour you want?
In Microsoft's Windows Explorer, the mouse wheel behaves normally when using
type-ahead, using it to scroll all through the folder content.
This seems a more suitable way to behave, rather than stopping the cursor at
the last file matched when trying to scroll with the mouse wheel.
don't you think?
