[Bug 884604] Re: grub install failed fatal error

2019-12-16 Thread Shrenik Shah
I was trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 in dual-boot with Windows 10, where
Windows is installed by default on the laptop in sda. Not sure, how to
proceed.

Re: [Bug 1855004] Grub install failed and installer crashed

2019-12-04 Thread Shrenik Shah
Hi Chris,Thank you for writing.Actually I am struggling to make my HP
Envy laptop, dual boot with Ubuntu since quite a few days.Initially I
tried installing latest 18.04.3 using live USB; my installation went
through however windows 10 started booting by default and there was no
change in behaviour even after disabling secure boot. Over the period of
time I realized that it has something to do with GRUB installation as
during booting I was not able to see GRUB coming into action. While I was
still trying to find a resolution of this issue, my live USB booting
started giving me errors saying EFI boot failed and again I
was clueless. Meanwhile, I found this link:https://www.lifewire.com/fix-
uefi-bootloader-issues-when-dual-booting-2200655which I thought was
worth trying, so I tried installing Ubuntu again from already available
USB stick which was smaller in size and it was already having that older
Ubuntu image and that is where I landed in this error.By the way,
following the link above when I tried using efibootmgr command after
booting from older version of live usb stick, I was surprised to see
that Ubuntu was missing there in list. Now, I am back to the
same position and thinking to start the process all over again!I would
highly appreciate any suggestions in this regards.Thanks,Shrenik.From:

[Bug 1041881] Re: Reinstalling a large server (without formatting) appears to hang during 'Cleaning up' due to updatedb.mlocate

2013-02-02 Thread Shrenik
Had started installation on a server with around 1 TB of data in
partitions not desired to be formatted but mounted them during
installation and in the first instance could not even detect what could
be holding the installation process at 97%. Hence rebooted which
obviously landed me a broken system. Reinstalled and yet again hit the
same issue. Thereafter, thanks to James found this bug already reported.

Killed the updatedb.mlocate process to work around this issue and get
the installation through.

I suggest to leave updatedb.mlocate to the first boot via cron, if at
all it must run automatically and definitely better information should
be presented in the installer instead of just Cleaning up .

It definitely left a bad taste in an otherwise smooth installation.

[Bug 770307] Re: 'Search All Notes' dialog not working in Windows 7

2012-07-02 Thread Shrenik
Neo,

Seems it has been fixed in the Development release 1.11.1 -
  http://git.gnome.org/browse/tomboy/plain/NEWS?id=1.11.2

One may try it from -
 http://download.gnome.org/binaries/win32/tomboy/1.11/Tomboy-1.11.2.msi

Note, it is just the development version, so may have a few bugs as
well.

[Bug 931637] Re: Firefox 10.0.1 crashes when trying to enter a command on the Web Console

2012-02-14 Thread Shrenik
I don't think this is only triggered by firebug. Clicking on Firebug's
DOM tab is a sure crasher.

Even with firebug disabled, for e.g. other addons such as Awesome
Screeshot from Diigo. Take a screenshot - click Done - Close Tab and
the browser crashes.

Everytime I am closing the browser, it crashes and notifies to submit a
bug report:

Here are some that have been uploaded already -

http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-5a9ac084-5c83-42e9-9295-923132120213

Am moving to official build till we see some solution to this as FF is
unsuable on Ubuntu as of now.

@Patrick, thanks a ton for the solution.
Yes, me too worked with multiple monitors but not in the faintest did I think
it could be related to that. Will work again and confirm if that could be the
cause.

Can you also please confirm the cause?

@Redsandro 'add all notes in the Start Here note which is accessable

notes into Start Here as well as the short-cut keys don't work for me.
Please confirm and may be then it should be opened as a separate bug.
Currently for me, Tomboy is complete defunct on Windows.

[Bug 770307] Re: 'Search All Notes' dialog not working in Windows 7

2011-07-24 Thread Shrenik
@Redsandro, thanks but the 'lame workaround' would only work if I
readily remember the names of all the notes and I have several of them.
:) Yeah I think I can get all of them by opening each of *.note file.

As for the shortcuts, they too don't work for me. Have tried various
combinations since the default ones did not work. Herein is attached a

[Bug 770307] Re: 'Search All Notes' dialog not working in Windows 7

2011-07-23 Thread Shrenik
Sorry guys for not checking back in. And yes, I did forget to subscribe
thinking it would auto-subscribe once I post a comment. :)

Anyways, my log too does not look much different. Don't know if this is of much
consequence -
ERROR: There was an error while scanning assembly: c:\Program Files
(x86)\Tomboy\MonoPosixHelper.dll (The module was expected to contain an
assembly manifest.(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131018))

And yes, there was nothing in particular that I remember doing when this
mishap happened. I was just setting up everything on my new system and
ensuring that everything sync's between my trustworthy Ubuntu and this
new bloke.

Installed cygwin, unison, etc. amongst several other windows regulars
when all of a sudden, the Search All went kaput. Doesn't look like a
cross-dependency but something integral to Tomboy itself.
