[Bug 945987] Re: No Settings are available in Preferred format, only preset defaults are used

2012-09-23 Thread Simon Butcher
I upgraded to 2.96-0ubuntu4.2 on precise but still suffer with the problem
where i cannot modify (or even view) the mp3 settings.
I thought patch rhythmbox.gep to work with user-supplied custom settings
would enable settings via the GUI when using mp3 format?

[Bug 704187] Re: Unable to add Wine applications to Unity launcher

2012-05-03 Thread Simon Butcher
This behaviour persists in 12.04. In fact, if you add notepad (for example) to
the launcher, then run it, it doesn't show the arrow next to the icon, and
doesn't appear in alt-tab list of programs.
This means that once the window of a wine app is minimised, there is no way of
restoring it, neither from launcher or alt-tab.

[Bug 985526] Re: exit with error if encryption is selected

2012-04-28 Thread Simon Butcher
I had this issue in the 12.04 final, my /home partition is not-encrypted AFAIK,
and i chose not to format my /dev/sda6 home partition. however in the
installer, home was pre-selected for encryption in the options, and greyed out
(had no choice but to continue).
Continuing the installation resulted in the above error.

running on a 1GB RAM machine, i see this corruption in a unity3d session while

The bug is particularly prevalent on Unity3D menus and text.

[Bug 846798] Re: checkgmail won't let me log in even with correct info

2011-09-27 Thread Simon Butcher
There is a workaround for this problem:
download checkgmail.patch
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/download.php?group_id=137480atid=738663file_id=423104aid=3406322
then
sudo apt-get install patch
sudo patch /usr/bin/checkgmail /PATH/TO/checkgmail.patch

replacing /PATH/TO with the correct path to the patch file you
downloaded.

[Bug 747330] [NEW] Restart logs out instead of reboot when another user is connected

2011-04-01 Thread Simon Butcher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-session

Platform Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Indicator session: Installed: 0.2.15-0ubuntu1
Reproducible: every time
How to reproduce: add 2 users to the machine , local and local2 (both with
admin/sudo privileges). Login to unity via gdm as local. Then ssh to the test
machine from another machine as local2. From the desktop session, choose
restart button -
Expect: machine should reboot
Actual: session asks are to sure you want to log out and restart the

rebooting.

There is now even worse behaviour in natty than before. Upon resuming from

5 windows which I am required to click.

[Bug 438868] Re: Numerous applications have focus issues after emerging from a screensaver or suspend

2011-03-28 Thread Simon Butcher
I experience this sporadically in Lucid, when resuming from overnight or
lunchtime screensaver and firefox is already in focus.
However, I haven't been able to reproduce this in gnome classic with
compiz+firefox on Natty alpha so far (tried screensaver and suspend) [As far as
I understand, compiz 0.9.x is a complete re-write so some existing bugs may not
feature in 0.9.x]

[Bug 306497] Re: gwibber uses a lot of memory

2011-02-18 Thread Simon Butcher
testing gwibber on natty with facebook+twitter seems to have improved things.
duplicated bugs and comments on this bug tend to refer to huge memory leaks,
which i can no longer reproduce in gwibber .
memory leak issues may have coincided with the facebook update issues e.g. bug
#595265 ?
can other affected users confirm that the bug is now resolved?

[Bug 306497] Re: gwibber uses a lot of memory

2010-09-03 Thread Simon Butcher
Using 2.31.92 version from gwibber daily PPA:
Memory usage:

VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND
193m 80m 25m S0 2.0 0:21.16 gwibber 45mins
237m 125m 25m S0 3.1 2:32.06 gwibber 3 hrs
471m 359m 25m S0 8.9 17:49.03 gwibber 22 hrs
510m 398m 25m S0 9.9 21:00.74 gwibber 26hrs

1 twitter and 1 facebook account - relatively low traffic

After 1 day, gwibber has become the highest memory user on the machine
(more than 30 tabs on firefox open for similar period).

[Bug 595265] Re: Can not add Facebook account as add button not displayed after authorisation.

2010-09-02 Thread Simon Butcher
guys
i managed to fix this on 2.31.92
after trying all the suggestions above (approx 40 attempts), nothing worked, so
I closed gwibber and ran

firefox ~/.local/share/desktop-couch/couchdb.html
then went into gwibber-accounts, selected the facebook account and performed
delete document

restart gwibber and try to add facebook, works first time.
maybe someone can confirm this works for them too?

as a side note, i notice 22mb of data and 13000 entries in the
gwibber_messages section - some dating back a long way. Could be the
reason why facebook messages often stop updating in gwibber? (lack of
purging of old messages?)
