This change attempts to be backward compatible with existing config file locations, but be aware that config files may show up in the old ($HOME/.gnuradio/) and new ($XDG_CONFIG_HOME/gnuradio) locations depending on GNU Radio version. Files are not automatically moved, since some users run multiple versions of GNU Radio. * Ctrlport Probe, Ctrlport Probe PSD and gr-ctrlport-monitor. There is a minimal regression potential here; Vim simply reads a statically-set Perl array to determine if the release in the changelog and sources.list is supported or not. A simple way to test this update is to download a package from the Oracular archive, and open the changelog with Vim. [Bug 2063403] Re: /home/oem and /home/oem/Desktop is owned by root after oem installation, causing the OEM configuration environment to be (nearly) unusable
** Description changed: Steps to reproduce: 1: Boot an ISO of Kubuntu 24.04 Release Candidate. 2: Select "OEM mode (for manufacturers)" at bootup. 3: Proceed through the installation. 4: Boot into the OEM user. Expected result: The system should boot normally. Actual result: Plasma will fail to start. Reason: I foolishly instructed a fellow Ubuntu Developer to add code to calamares-settings-ubuntu that drops a desktop file into /home/oem/Desktop that allows exiting OEM configuration mode easily (similar to how oem-config works). I failed to take into account that having the code drop this file into place when the code runs as root would mean that /home/oem/Desktop (and also /home/oem) would end up - owned by root. Because they are owned by root, Plasma is unable to - start. LXQt starts, but probably won't function as expected. It's not - yet known what Unity will do but it can't be too pretty. + owned by root. Because they are owned by root, Plasma and Unity are + unable to start. LXQt starts, but won't function as expected. This requires only one line of code to fix per release - a simple `chown -R oem:oem /home/oem` is needed after extracting the OEM mode tarball into the root filesystem of the installed system. This is a very safe change to make because it's confined only to OEM mode (the code never runs outside of an OEM installation context), and, well, OEM mode is already hopelessly broken, we can't break it much more :P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063403 Title: /home/oem and /home/oem/Desktop is owned by root after oem installation, causing the OEM configuration environment to be (nearly) unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares-settings-ubuntu/+bug/2063403/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2063383] [NEW] [SRU] Ubuntu Unity takes 90 seconds to log out
Public bug reported: [ Impact ] Ubuntu Unity reliably takes 90 seconds to log out. This is due to the user-level gnome-session.service systemd unit not properly terminating gnome-session on logout. An attempt is made to send SIGTERM to the process, which gnome-session does not care about. Instead, gnome-session-quit should be invoked when the systemd unit shuts down, which acts effectively and immediately. [ Test Plan ] Actual behavior: 1. Log in to a Unity session on Ubuntu Unity 24.04. 2. Log out of Ubuntu Unity. 3. Observe that only the wallpaper is shown for 90 seconds prior to the login manager showing again. Expected behavior: 1. [Bug 2063354] Re: Calamares based flavours do not set grub-{efi, pc}/install_devices debconf
Raw, async testing instructions, as requested from IRC: Two separate virt-manager VMs, one configured with BIOS, the other with EFI (no secureboot). Synced the main.py file over to the installed location in each VM, ran through the Calamares installation progress with max debugging mode, then once the install was finished I chroot'ed into the newly-installedsystem and verified that `sudo debconf-show grub-pc` showed the newly-inserted entry. As a baseline, arraybolt3 ran through both an EFI and a BIOS install with Xubuntu, which uses the Flutter installer, and gave me the full output of `sudo debconf-show grub-pc` for each which I then `sort`ed and `diff`ed on my system. We expect this new output to be identical to what the new installer produces. https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2024/04/24/%23lubuntu-devel.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063354 Title: Calamares based flavours do not set grub-{efi,pc}/install_devices debconf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/2063354/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2063291] Re: [SRU] Correctly map boot entry to OEM setup
** Description changed: [ Impact ] Historically with Ubiquity-based live ISOs, a boot entry exists specific for OEM configuration. This has become an expectation from an end-user perspective, for installs dedicated to that purpose. OEM mode is a feature that is now only present in Calamares-based ISOs, with Ubuntu Desktop Installer-based ISOs having progress tracked in bug 2048473. Out of the three Calamares-based ISOs (Ubuntu Unity, Kubuntu, and Lubuntu), only two of those (Kubuntu and Lubuntu) have dedicated installer prompts to boot right into the installer, where Ubuntu Unity simply has a desktop icon on first boot, which is the same as Lubuntu's functionality from 18.10 to 23.10 in this respect. Kubuntu has an OEM boot entry enabled, but the installer prompt does nothing with the additional kernel parameter provided (oem- config/enable=true). Lubuntu does not have an OEM boot entry enabled (which will require a debian-cd merge proposal), and also does not have this logic in the installer prompt. Both installer prompts need simple support. [ Test Plan ] 1. Boot a Noble daily ISO or 24.04.1, if already released, for Lubuntu and Kubuntu. 2. Select the following boot entry: "OEM install (for manufacturers)" 3. After system boot, Calamares in OEM mode is shown. [ Where problems could occur ] When updating Calamares itself in a future update, care must be taken to ensure OEM mode continues to work as designed. An underlying regression in Calamares has the potential to break the functionality of this update. Additionally, if debian-cd changes in a non-backwards-compatible way for - Noble, this could also break changes. + Noble, this could also break the functionality of this update. [Bug 2063289] [NEW] Merge installer prompts for Calamares flavors
Public bug reported: lubuntu-installer-prompt was written first as a simple prototype for a "Try or Install" screen when booting the live Lubuntu ISO. [Bug 2061214] Re: [SRU] Software Sources is not compatible with deb822
** Description changed: + [ Impact ] + + Ubuntu 24.04 now uses deb822 to represent software sources for deb + packages, instead of /etc/apt/sources.list. The complete rationale for + this change can be found here: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/spec-apt- + deb822-sources-by-default/29333 + + software-properties has two graphical frontends for editing these + software sources, one is GTK-based and the other is Qt-based. When the + underlying change to deb822 sources was made, the GTK-based frontend and + the DBus backend interface gained support. + + The original bug report shown below informed us of the lack of deb822 + support in the Qt frontend, which results in a broken, non-functional + interface when attempting to view or edit most values on the first two + tabs. The fix for this is to implement a Qt dialog for deb822 sources + that somewhat matches the existing GTK interface. + + [ Test Plan ] + + Install software-properties-qt 0.99.48 or earlier. + + Reproducing the bug: + 1. From the menu, open Software Sources. Alternatively, run `sudo -E software-properties-qt` in a terminal. + 2. Observe that all four checkboxes on the Ubuntu Software tab (main, universe, restricted, and multiverse) are unchecked. + 3. Move to the Other Software tab and observe that there are no items in the list. + + Upgrade to software-properties-qt 0.99.49. + + Intended functionality: + 1. From the menu, open Software Sources. Alternatively, run `sudo -E software-properties-qt` in a terminal. + 2. Observe that one or more checkboxes on the Ubuntu Software tab (representing main, universe, restricted, or multiverse) are checked. Toggle one or more of the checkboxes. + 3. Using a text editor of some kind (perhaps Vim), confirm that /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources reflects your changes. + 4. Switch to the Other Software tab, there should be one item in the list. + 5. Select that item, then click Edit at the bottom of the dialog. Make a modification to every field on the screen, or a combination of fields you would like to test. All fields should work. + 6. Click the OK button at the bottom of the dialog to confirm the changes, then click Edit for that item again. The changes you made should be reflected (meaning, the changes were saved.) + 7. Using a text editor of some kind (perhaps Vim), confirm that /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources reflects your changes. + + [ Where problems could occur ] + + This is well-tested code. That being said, the following small edge cases exist: + - If you create a very large amount of rows, it infinitely expands the dialog without a scroll wheel. This is the same functionality as the GTK frontend. + - Error validation is not performed on the deb822 lines, they are simply written to the ubuntu.sources file. This is good as a starting point, but also relies on the appropriate update notifier handling these errors. This is the same functionality as the GTK frontend. + + In a future update, this functionality could be broken by one or more of the following underlying changes: + - Changes to the software-properties backend which are only implemented for the GTK frontend. + - Changes to the location or formatting of the ubuntu.sources file. + - Regressions in the Python bindings for Qt 5, which are rare but possible. + - Regressions in Python itself. + + [ Other Info ] + + Ubuntu Studio's live ISO and installed system are affected by this. Only Lubuntu's installed system is affected by this. + + [ Original Report ] + Upgrading Lubuntu Jammy to Lubuntu Noble using TUI results in "Software sources" not correctly updated after upgrade. [Bug 2061711] Re: lubuntu noble - full (inc. 3rd party) install is kinda slow
This bug is certainly worth noting, but I do not believe anything can really be done about it. The problem comes down to, how do we get the software the user is willing to install? We could put it in a layered or separately-mounted squashfs, but that is unfair to users who just want a normal install, especially if we want to be able to extend these options next cycle. Also, if no network access is available at all, these options are completely hidden anyway. ** Changed in: calamares (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061711 Title: lubuntu noble - full (inc. 3rd party) install is kinda slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/2061711/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2061318] Re: Generic snap utilities should be moved to a common source package for everyone to share
** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: (unassigned) => Simon Quigley (tsimonq2) ** Description changed: The Lubuntu team wrote two snap-based utilities that we would like to move to a common source package in the OO cycle, perhaps snapd itself. These are snap-preseed-glue and simple-snap-preseed-dialog, both of which serve distinct purposes: - snap-seed-glue is a command-line tool which allows for preseeding snaps. We use this in Calamares so users can select Krita, Thunderbird, and/or Element via the UI to be installed as a snap on the target system. It does not clobber existing preseeded snaps (in our case, Firefox and Firmware Updater), but instead adds the appropriate snaps (and their default content snaps, recursively). seed.yaml items are treated as a set. This should eventually be used in livecd-rootfs. - simple-snap-preseed-dialog is a simple GUI application meant to be ran on system startup. [Bug 2061318] Re: Generic snap utilities should be moved to a common source package for everyone to share
** Description changed: The Lubuntu team wrote two snap-based utilities that we would like to move to a common source package in the OO cycle, perhaps snapd itself. These are snap-preseed-glue and simple-snap-preseed-dialog, both of which serve distinct purposes: - - snap-preseed-glue is a command-line tool which allows for preseeding snaps. - - simple-snap-preseed-dialog is a simple GUI application meant to be ran on system startup. Public bug reported: In Ubuntu Cinnamon's whitelabel.yml, the following stanza exists: pages: locale: image: "ubuntucinnamonlogo.png" try-or-install: image: "ubuntucinnamonlogo.png" This overrides several images to match Ubuntu Cinnamon branding. The logo is being rendered, it's just not visible. [Bug 2056483] [NEW] Provides and NBS
Public bug reported: ## Issue at hand Yesterday's livefs builds for Lubuntu and other flavors were failing[1] due to an issue with dependency resolution. efivar and mokutil both depend on libefivar1. efivar (both the name of the source and of a binary, referring to the source in this case) was updated for the time_t transition, causing a binary package rename from libefivar1 to libefivar1t64, but still Providing libefivar1. efivar is installed at an earlier stage of the build (and is in one of the more core seeds), which pulls in libefivar1t64. mokutil then tries to bring in libefivar1 at a later stage, but fails because libefivar1 existed as an NBS binary. Specific error: [2024-03-07 00:41:28] lb_chroot_install-packages live [...] Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libefivar1t64 : Breaks: libefivar1 (< 38-3.1) Germinate did track that libefivar1 is provided by libefivar1t64, but does not reflect that further up in the stack. [1] https://launchpadlibrarian.net/717897291/buildlog_ubuntu_noble_amd64_lubuntu_BUILDING.txt.gz ## Steps to reproduce Prereqs: - A noble container or system with root access (run the following commands in a root shell) - A decent internet connection apt -y install live-build livecd-rootfs cd mkdir build && cd build && mkdir auto for i in /usr/share/livecd-rootfs/live-build/auto/*; do ln -s $i auto/; done # In auto/config, change line 42 to read the following (with proper indentation of course): ## i386|amd64) MIRROR=https://snapshot.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/20240307T003614Z/ ;; export SUITE="noble" ARCH="amd64" PROJECT="lubuntu" lb clean --purge lb config lb build ## Potential Solution The absolute best potential solution I can think of would be to ask Germinate to examine Provides prior to adding the package. I could see something like this being around line 1825 in germinate/germinator.py. What I'd like to know from the current Germinate maintainers is, what do you think? Is this something Germinate should be able to plan for? Any rules of thumb when doing dependency resolution? Is there a Somewhat Easy way of falling back to apt for this? ** Affects: germinate (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056483 Title: Provides and NBS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/germinate/+bug/2056483/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899854] [NEW] [SRU] Move to Canonical's GeoIP Service
Public bug reported: [Impact] * Lubuntu currently uses ipapi.co for GeoIP services. * ipapi.co is not controlled by us, and could become obsolete in the future. * Canonical already provides this service, so we should move to use this instead. [Test Case] 1. With a Lubuntu 20.04 LTS daily ISO, install the package from focal-proposed. 2. Ensure that your current timezone is correctly identified and selected. [Regression Potential] * Any underlying regressions to the XML library could affect this change. * If Canonical's GeoIP service goes down, the default location is New York. This provides a clear fallback. * Edge cases with Canonical's GeoIP service might occur, but should be addressed with the service itself and not our settings. ** Affects: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Simon Quigley (tsimonq2) Status: Fix Committed ** Affects: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Medium Assignee: Simon Quigley (tsimonq2) Status: In Progress ** Affects: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Medium Assignee: Simon Quigley (tsimonq2) Status: Fix Committed ** Also affects: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Focal) Assignee: (unassigned) => Simon Quigley (tsimonq2) ** Changed in: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Groovy) Assignee: (unassigned) => Simon Quigley (tsimonq2) ** Changed in: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Focal) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: calamares-settings-ubuntu (Ubuntu Groovy) Status: New => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899854 Title: [SRU] Move to Canonical's GeoIP Service To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares-settings-ubuntu/+bug/1899854/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This has already been fixed in Groovy, and Eoan just went EOL. I have uploaded your patches to Focal and Bionic, and they are waiting in the respective queues. [Bug 1842043] Re: The Nonce model needs an index
Hi Alberto! Apologies for the delay in reviewing your patch. According to LP #1882949, it seems this package has been removed from Groovy. If you feel this should be SRU'ed, please update the bug description to follow the Stable Release Update guidelines, which can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#SRU_Bug_Template I have unsubscribed ~ubuntu-sponsors, as there is nothing left to do here. Please resubscribe us if you would like to get this in a stable release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1842043 Title: The Nonce model needs an index To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/django-piston3/+bug/1842043/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1836975] Re: bluebird-gtk-theme 1.3-1 window borders incompatible with Cinnamon >= 3.8 and don't appear in the theme application menu
Hi Connor! Apologies for the delay in reviewing your patch. Although Disco is EOL, I uploaded the patch to Eoan. I changed the version number to 1.3-1ubuntu0.20.04.1, since 1.3-1ubuntu1 was already uploaded to Groovy. Although this is something I don't particularly like to nitpick on, please try to follow DEP-3 for patch headers in the future. It makes it much more readable (by humans and machines). More documentation is available here: https://dep- team.pages.debian.net/deps/dep3/ I have unsubscribed ~ubuntu-sponsors, since there is nothing left to do. Feel free to resubscribe us if further tweaks to the patch are required before acceptance.
