[Bug 1579515] Re: suspend and wakeup prob in Samsung Notebook with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

2016-05-11 Thread Soenke J. Peters
I can confirm this problem on my Samsung NP350E7C with kernel
4.4.0.22-generic from 16.04LTS.

With kernel 4.6.0... from the mainline kernel-ppa link given above,
suspend works again.

[Bug 830355] Re: x201 intermittent crash on resume from suspend, with caps lock flashing

2012-02-19 Thread Soenke
I had the same problem (11.11), but powernap NOT installed. Installing
cpufrequtils fixed the problem for me. Now all CPUs are restarted
properly on resume. I found this solution here:

If this is fixed, then #671932 is no duplicate because the the bug
still up and alive and renders suspend/resume unusable. Also nvidia does
not react in their own bug report:

Cannot acknowledge. There are no messages in syslog anymore but the
disable-cpu hack is still neccessary for me. (fresh install of natty

The cpu-hack also fucks up virtualbox after resume. Meh :-(

Correct, lirc version 0.8.6-0ubuntu4.1 breaks the module. I reverted to
0.8.6-0ubuntu4 and everything back to normal (no source install, though)

$ apt-cache policy lirc

$ uname -a
Linux mediageloet 2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11 08:03:28 UTC 2010

Workaround: Pin the version - add the following to /etc/apt/preferences

Package: lirc

Pin: version 0.8.6-0ubuntu4

Now it won't get installed by updates:

[Bug 221009] Re: Firefox keeps forcing disk to spin up when browsing because its sqlite storage calls fsync() for every recorded entry

2010-01-11 Thread Soenke
I can confirm this behavior on karmic amd64 with latest firefox (3.5.7
+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.10.1):

soe...@kellerautomat:~$ strace -p $(pgrep firefox) -e fsync,fdatasync -tT
Process 20808 attached - interrupt to quit
23:21:47 fsync(71) = 0 0.035733

fds 34 and 74 are places.sqlite[-journal]:

This is how it looks like when using firefox as usual.

Often I even recognize fsync fireworks (I had just to wait about 10
minutes for this report):

23:31:51 fdatasync(74) = 0 0.043869

23:31:53 fdatasync(74) = 0 0.046760
23:31:53 fdatasync(34) = 0 0.071646

and so on for about 5-10 seconds. This behavior is annoying especially
if you have an ecryptfs homedir :(

soon.

Yeah problem seems to disappear here without loose binding, too. But it
makes 2.1GHz CoreDuo feel like 80486 :-/

[Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia on intrepid

2008-12-31 Thread Soenke
Hi,

I can confirm the behavior that selkovjr describes with 180.06 driver
(T61 laptop, nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 140M (rev a1)):

- vertical scrolling refresh problems disappear
- after suspend computer does not wakeup
- changing to console does not work anymore - switches to x-server immediately
again
- enabling second monitor with nvidia-settings: sometimes a big black rectangle
occures (because of different solutions of screens)

So 180.xx is really *beta* and not usable.

I will try the other fix with loose-binding right now.

[Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia on intrepid

2008-12-18 Thread Soenke
Yes this bug is still alive and definitely specific to compiz, nvidia,
mozilla applications (maybe all cairo based programs) and twin-view. How
can we help to get it fixed?

[Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia on intrepid

2008-12-13 Thread Soenke
My last comment refers to the fix released state as shown above. Where
is the supposed fix?

Still encountering the problem (firefox scrolling refreshing with compiz
enabled) with intrepid and latest 177er nvidia driver
(177.82-0ubuntu0.1). Seems to be twin-view specific here (thinkpad
t61with nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 140M).

[Bug 292567] [NEW] X on T61p crashes when closing lid

2008-11-02 Thread Soenke J. Peters
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-177

After having updated from Hardy (8.04) to Intrepid (8.10), there are a
number of annoying bugs.

The most important is that when closing the lid on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61p
(NVidia Quadro FX570M), X crashes.
Symptoms of crash is X screen being displayed, but no further reaction (no
cursor, no keys, no...) - system hangs and requires a reboot.

Testing has been done with Nvidia binary drivers 177.80 and 173.14.12 (legacy
version) with symptoms being the same.
Also tried SAVE_VBE_STATE=false and POST_VIDEO=false in
/etc/defaults/acpi-support, but no change.

Had to change back to Xorg nv drivers, which have a significantly worse
performance, but work well.

** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 260109] Re: key up opens gnome-screenshot

2008-11-02 Thread Soenke
Hi,

I stumbled upon this bug with thinkfinger (fingerprint reader from
thinkpad) enabled in /etc/pam.d/common-auth:

authsufficient pam_thinkfinger.so
authrequisite pam_unix.so try_first_pass nullok_secure
authoptionalpam_smbpass.so migrate missingok

This was like it looked in hardy. After reenabling it in 8.10 the
arrow-up error occured.

After restoring the config, the error disappeared.

Since the fingerprint reader registers as virtual keyboard it could be
related somehow ...

+ Edit:
+ Disabled console framebuffer (set vga=normal) seems to fix this.
