Hi, I can confirm the behavior that selkovjr describes with 180.06 driver (T61 laptop, nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 140M (rev a1)): - vertical scrolling refresh problems disappear - after suspend computer does not wakeup - changing to console does not work anymore - switches to x-server immediately again - enabling second monitor with nvidia-settings: sometimes a big black rectangle occures (because of different solutions of screens) So 180.xx is really *beta* and not usable. [Bug 292567] [NEW] X on T61p crashes when closing lid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-177 After having updated from Hardy (8.04) to Intrepid (8.10), there are a number of annoying bugs. The most important is that when closing the lid on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61p (NVidia Quadro FX570M), X crashes. Symptoms of crash is X screen being displayed, but no further reaction (no cursor, no keys, no...) - system hangs and requires a reboot. Testing has been done with Nvidia binary drivers 177.80 and 173.14.12 (legacy version) with symptoms being the same. Also tried SAVE_VBE_STATE=false and POST_VIDEO=false in /etc/defaults/acpi-support, but no change. Had to change back to Xorg nv drivers, which have a significantly worse performance, but work well. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- X on T61p crashes when closing lid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 260109] Re: key up opens gnome-screenshot
Hi, I stumbled upon this bug with thinkfinger (fingerprint reader from thinkpad) enabled in /etc/pam.d/common-auth: authsufficient pam_thinkfinger.so authrequisite pam_unix.so try_first_pass nullok_secure authoptionalpam_smbpass.so migrate missingok This was like it looked in hardy. [Bug 292567] Re: X on T61p crashes when closing lid
** Description changed: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-177 After having updated from Hardy (8.04) to Intrepid (8.10), there are a number of annoying bugs. - Had to change back to Xorg nv drivers, which have a significantly worse - performance, but work well. + Edit: + Disabled console framebuffer (set vga=normal) seems to fix this. -- X on T61p crashes when closing lid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
