Well this is a new System, so I can't be sure if this was working in
previous releases.

The issue exists in Mainline kernel too.

Have tested with these packages,

linux-headers-4.4.14-040414-generic_4.4.14-040414.201606241434_amd64.deb

[Bug 1354397] Re: Latest fixes from storvsc scsi drivers for Hyper-V/Azure

2014-08-25 Thread srikanth myakam
Hi Andy,
I see kernel panic on Ubuntu1404 using packages given in
http://people.canonical.com/~apw/lp1354397-trusty/ and works fine with the
packages available in Ubuntu repository. Hardware is windows Hyper-V. Serial
logs are attached.

We didn't see any such issues on Ubuntu 1410 but unable to install
linux-cloud-
tools-3.16.0-8-generic_3.16.0-8.13~lp1354397v201408121801_amd64.deb as
its dependency linux-cloud-tools-3.16.0-8.deb is missing and we cant
find it over Google. We used earlier version binaries here.

** Attachment added: Serial logs for Ubuntu1404 kernel crash.

[Bug 813482] Re: hp laserjet M1136 MFP is detected as CDROM drive

2011-07-22 Thread Srikanth
Hi Dhiraj,

Smart Installer is enabled in your device. If this is enabled, your
device will be detected as CDRom from where you can install the software
on windows. Unfortunately we don't support this feature in Linux. If you
disable this feature on device, your device will be detected in Linux.
To disable this you should have a windows machine and can follow the
below steps.

1. Download the Full Driver for Windows from www.hp.com or
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=4075452lc=encc=usdlc=enlang=encc=us
2. Run the exe, extract it to a folder.
3. Go to extracted folder/UTIL directory
4. Connect your device.
5. Run SIUtility.exe and follow the wizard to disable the feature.

Thanks and Regards,
Srikanth Lokare

[Bug 782441] [NEW] pyversions unable to detect python version if python is added as a update-alternative option

2011-05-13 Thread Srikanth Varadarajan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-minimal

Version: Ubuntu 11.04

Ubuntu 11.04 comes with Python 2.7 as the default.
Because of a tool requiring Python 2.6, I installed Python 2.6 side-by-side
Python 2.7 and made it the default :)
Now, Ubuntu Software Center does not work, because it requires Python 2.7.

So, I used update-alternatives and added python and its derivatives
for switching between the two versions. Its terrible...

Now the real problem, the /usr/share/python/pyversions.py as well as
/usr/share/pycentral-data/pyversions.py, reads the link pointing to
/usr/bin/python to get the default python version. But after adding
python as update-alternative option, this link does not point to
/usr/bin/python2.7 or /usr/bin/python2.6. Instead points to
/etc/alternatives/python which then points to the actual python
executable.

I suppose that reading the link is not the correct way to determine the
python version. Instead, the actual python command should be executed to
get the version (that code is actually present in pyversions.py as an
exception handler).

Tried duplex printing with HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 on Ubuntu 10.10 with

grayed out under Installable Options, but setting Long Edge

Case 2 (when battery is near about empty)
the same message shows up which is good. but as it says to connect the cable

[Bug 646179] [NEW] gnome-terminal does not follow the terminal size specified in gconf

2010-09-23 Thread Srikanth Varadarajan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I had set the default_size_columns and default_size_rows to custom
values in gconf-editor - apps - gnome-terminal - profiles - Default.
I received an update for gnome-terminal today. After the update, when I
fire up gnome-terminal, the size is 80x24 even though the
default_size_columns/rows are still at custom values in gconf-editor.

I tried logging out and logging back in, but this is still the behavior.

[Bug 267844] [NEW] Wireless does not work after suspend on X61s notebook

2008-09-08 Thread Srikanth
Public bug reported:

I installed the 2.6.27-1 kernel in Hardy, and I'm having trouble with my
wireless.
It works fine after a fresh boot, however, after waking up from suspend, it
doesn't see any wireless networks. I cannot connect to any network from the
command line either.
The following steps seem to solve the problem:
Before suspend, I stop the networking daemon and remove the ath5k module.
After waking up from suspend, I add the ath5k module and restart the networking
daemon.

It then is able to scan and connect to networks.
There seems to be no difference in the lsmod output before and after suspend.

I've attached my lspci and lsmod outputs. Please let me know if you need
further info and I'll put it up.

[Bug 267919] [NEW] sound broken with new kernel in hardy

2008-09-08 Thread Srikanth
Public bug reported:

I chose the linux-headers package as I couldn't file it under linux-

I installed the new 2.6.27-1 rc3 kernel on my Thinkpad X61 with a Intel

working after a suspend).

Re: [Bug 267919] Re: sound broken with new kernel in hardy

2008-09-08 Thread Srikanth
I took the kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/pub/next/2.6.27-rc3/
There's a Hardy as well as an Intrepid version.
I can test the Live CD, but the reason I installed this kernel was to
resolve an earlier issue I had with hotdocking in the 2.6.24 (bug
163211)
In any case, the new kernel solves that problem on the Thinkpad X61s.

Thanks,
Srikanth

 Hi Srikanth,

I'm just a little thrown off by the title of your bug report when you
really are using the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 2.6.27 kernel. ie the
2.6.27 kernel is only available for Intrepid, not Hardy. Did you
intentionally install the Intrepid kernel into your Hardy install?
Don't get me wrong, it's fine if you did if you were wanting to test, I
just want to verify this was intentional. Additionally, the latest
Alpha5 release for Intrepid should contain alsa 1.0.17. Would you maybe
consider testing the latest Alpha5 release for Intrepid. You should be
able to test via a LiveCD - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Please let
 us know your results. Thanks.

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_hotswap_UltraBay_devices

To dock, echo 0 0 0 /sys/class/scsi_host/host1/scan (or whatever
host number your DVD drive is).
To undock, echo 1 /sys/class/scsi_device/1:0:0:0/device/delete (1
corresponds to host1 above).

This undock solution still leads to a crash during suspend/hibernate.
To get around that,
remove the dock and run the dock command. You effectively scan for a
non-existent device but it allows suspend/hibernate.

Confirmed here (although I'm running the Hardy kernel on Gutsy); any
attempt to undock results in a hard lock. Which is one more reason not
to upgrade to hardy yet :(

[Bug 214408] [NEW] Hot docking not working with X61 thinkpad

2008-04-08 Thread Srikanth
Public bug reported:

I have a Thinkpad X61 with a dock containing a CDROM. I'm unable to hot dock.
The cdrom is recognized only if I boot with it. If I undock, the system
freezes.
System info:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# uname -a
Linux laptop 2.6.24-15-generic #1 SMP Tue Apr 8 00:33:51 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

I read in a help forum that adding a module aciphp might help, but when I try
to do that, I get the following error:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# modprobe acpiphp
FATAL: Error inserting acpiphp
(/lib/modules/2.6.24-15-generic/kernel/drivers/pci/hotplug/acpiphp.ko): No such
device

I tried adding modules dock and cdrom, but that doesn't help. Dmesg logs tell
me that the dock/undock actions are recognized. It recognizes 4 usb ports.
[ 632.474771] ACPI: \_SB_.GDCK - docking

I have attached lsmod outputs without the dock, after trying to hotdock
and booting with dock.

Please let me know if any further information is required.

Thanks.

[Bug 211644] Re: [hardy] Sound card hda Intel doesn't work with kernel 2.6.24 series

2008-04-03 Thread Srikanth
Sound doesn't work for me either but aplay --list-devices gives me:
 List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

$cat /proc/asound/oss/sndstat:

Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v1.0.16 emulation code)
Kernel: Linux laberinto 2.6.24-14-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 3 04:49:29 UTC 2008
i686
Config options: 0

Installed drivers:
Type 10: ALSA emulation

Card config:
HDA Intel at 0xf822 irq 19

Audio devices:
0: AD198x Analog (DUPLEX)

Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Timers:

So it is seeing my card, but I still don't get sound. When I try to play a wav
file using aplay, I don't get errors, but I don't see anything either.

in max to hear anything. Sorry about that.

[Bug 207549] Re: Hot docking not possible with Thinkpad X61

2008-03-27 Thread Srikanth
Update:
I updated to Hardy, but no luck :(. I also noticed that trying to hot undock it
(if booted up with dock) crashes the system. It's the exact same bug as bug
#163211, for a different machine.

[Bug 207549] [NEW] Hot docking not possible with Thinkpad X61

2008-03-26 Thread Srikanth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

This is very similar to bug #163211. I have Xubuntu Gutsy installed on a
Thinkpad X61. If I boot up with the docking station, the CD and DVD drive (part
of the dock) works fine. If I try to attach the dock after booting up, the OS
doesn't see the optical drive. There is no problem with the USB ports in the
dock, though.
I haven't checked to see if the problem persists with Hardy.
