[Bug 1970066] Re: removing firefox snap after fresh 22.04 install with (encrypted) ZFS breaks APT, snapd
I was the one who originally had this issue and tried to get help on IRC, so I can confirm that this happens on my system as well with ZFS (encrypted) when running "snap remove firefox" during the first boot. [Bug 1950071] Re: failed to create shim: OCI runtime create failed
A user on github found a solution for this problem. THX to SCIF. https://github.com/containerd/containerd/issues/6203 It seems docker.io installed runc once in the past in /opt/containerd/bin/runc/. This old version there and the regular (newest) one in /usr/bin/runc/ let us non-nvidia-runtime-users ran into this problem. With a "whereis runc" it is possible to check if there is a second runc- runtime. If so, it helps to delete this very old version under /opt/containerd/bin. After deleting this version for me everything works perfect again, even with the latest version of docker.io on ubuntu 18.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1950071 Title: failed to create shim: OCI runtime create failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker.io/+bug/1950071/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1950071] Re: failed to create shim: OCI runtime create failed
I get the exact same error with docker.io (20.10.7-0ubuntu5~18.04.3) on Ubuntu 18.04.06 running on ESXI. But! I don´t use the nvidia runtime. It is not installed anyway. My runtime is runc. When I use docker.io (20.10.7-0ubuntu1~18.04.2) everything works fine, and I can start any container without having error response "docker: Error response from daemon: failed to create shim: OCI runtime create failed: container_linux.go:348: starting container process caused "error adding seccomp filter rule for syscall clone3: permission denied": unknown." [Bug 1850550] [NEW] megaraid_sas driver in linux-modules-4.15.0-66-generic prevents server with "Cisco UCS C3000 RAID Controller for M4 Server Blade" from booting
Public bug reported: TLDR: system with rare LSI controller stopped booting when we upgraded to kernel 4.15.0-66-generic. The controller is a Cisco UCS C3000 RAID Controller for M4 Server Blade with 4G RAID Cache, which Cisco tell me is a dual chip Broadcom 3316 ROC. To my knowledge, it is only used in their 56 disk 4U storage server, so is probably not the most common of devices. The controllers is running the latest firmware from Cisco (29.00.1-0110, from 2015). It has 1 RAID1 VD and 56 drives exposed as JBODs. Two different systems (16.04) with this controller went down for automatic reboots last week and failed to come back up. The BMC notified us that the RAID controller was in a faulted state, so we initially assumed a hardware failure, but this turned out not to be the case. The previous kernel version (4.15.0-65) boots fine. This also happens with kernel 5.0.0-23 after we moved one up to 18.04. On booting, we get dumped back to an initramfs prompt, and dmesg shows some concerning stuff from the megaraid_sas driver: [1.845268] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: FW now in Ready state [1.845270] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: 32 bit DMA mask and 32 bit consistent mask [1.845933] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: firmware supports msix: (16) [1.845935] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: current msix/online cpus : (16/40) [1.845936] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: RDPQ mode : (disabled) [1.845937] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: Current firmware supports maximum commands: 928LDIO threshold: 0 [1.846204] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: Configured max firmware commands: 927 [1.849914] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: FW supports sync cache: No [1.931975] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: firmware type : Extended VD(240 VD)firmware [1.931977] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: controller type : MR(4095MB) [1.931978] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: Online Controller Reset(OCR) : Enabled [1.931979] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: Secure JBOD support : Yes [1.964209] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: INIT adapter done [2.210527] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: pci id: (0x1000)/(0x00ce)/(0x1137)/(0x0197) [2.210528] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: unevenspan support: no [2.210529] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: firmware crash dump : no [2.210530] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: jbod sync map : yes [2.588209] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: Iop2SysDoorbellIntfor scsi0 [2.588222] megaraid_sas :12:00.0: Found FW in FAULT state, will reset adapter scsi0. [Bug 1773457] Re: Full-system encryption needs to be supported out-of-the-box including /boot and should not delete other installed systems
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1514120 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514120 I would like to support this bug report from the perspective of a security oriented, pragmatic user, likely the kind of which there are plenty out there. Ubuntu's great success has been and will be based on how user friendly it is, and an overwhelming majority of the people who are looking at security just want their whole system encrypted. Also in dual boot scenarios. Windows for general purpose, Ubuntu for security relevant tasks such as banking or sensitive administration. A wide-spread usecase. Confronting them with exceptions such as an unencrypted /boot partition, disabling encryption in dual boot scenarios or any other unnecessary complications will just lower Ubuntu's acceptance in an increasingly security aware user world. Academic discussions about whether or not encryption has been designed for tamper resistance just misses the point. Fact is that it does increase it. Think of someone who breaches my Windows installation, and discovers the parallel Ubuntu installation. They either just see one big chunk of random data, or they see a clear-text /boot partition they can play with. This is one unnecessary attack vector, no matter how easy or hard it is to use. I do not remember a single argument in this whole history against /boot encryption that mentions a real disadvantage of the functionality. Yes, there may be alternatives. No, it does not make a system perfectly safe. But it helps, and not implementing it is like not implementing RAID because one wants to force users to create backups. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773457 Title: Full-system encryption needs to be supported out-of-the-box including /boot and should not delete other installed systems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1773457/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1717257] Re: [bug / patch ]patch for glibc 2.26 to avoid errors in compiling with CUDA(NVCC)

[Bug 1673250] [NEW] Internal HUAWEI Mobile Broadband Module not showing up as USB device
Public bug reported: Hi, I am running an Acer P645 with internal USB UMTS modem. The modem works using a 16.04.1 live USB stick, but not on the installed on-disk 16.04.2. Below is the lsusb -v in from the live-USB where the UMTS modem works, first the USB Hub usb2, then the Huawei device. The information from the running system where the modem does not show up is attached through apport. I also have access to dmesg on both systems, see further below for the successful case. I also tried to copy kernel and modules from the live-USB to the hadr disk, booted successfully, but still nothing in lsusb. I also tried a few times to use for i in /sys/bus/pci/drivers/[uoex]hci_hcd/*:*; do echo "${i##*/}" > "${i%/*}/unbind" echo "${i##*/}" > "${i%/*}/bind" done for resetting the bus, still the same. I would welcome some suggestions what to test, if there could be a firmware issue blocking the UMTS, if teh modem could be blacklisted (how do I check that ?) whether udev or systemd could be a problem, whether there could be a missing package in the HDD installation (which?!) or if UEFI in the boot chain ("sdhci: Secure Digital Host Controller Interface driver") could cause an issue. Or if it makes sense to manually run usb_modeswitch (how?) without the device even be in lsusb ? [Bug 1640190] Re: S/MIME encryption broken
Hello, i am the maintainer of S-nail and i responded to the question of the poster as archived at https://sourceforge.net/p/s-nail/s-nail/message/35479133/ or http://www.mail-archive.com/s-nail-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg00530.html It follows a copy of the answer: I don't think there is an issue on our side, S/MIME is tested via cc-test.sh in the distribution. I wouldn't exactly call the bug report detailed, your setup must be different from what the bug report states, i.e., more complete. Have you read the manual ("Signed and encrypted messages with S/MIME")? Compared to Heirloom mailx the S/MIME support has been actualized a little bit regarding the standard RFC 5751. E.g., if you replace the line Content-Type: application/pkcs7-mime; name="smime.p7m" with Content-Type: application/x-pkcs7-mime; name="smime.p7m" then maybe that fixes the problem, though unlikely because other MUAs use this one exclusively for some time. More likely the culprit is the upgrade of the *smime-cipher*[1] from des3 (DES EDE3 CBC) to aes128 (AES-128 CBC). If i recall correctly Heirloom used 3des for the name, so if you have set the cipher to 3des then this could also be it. You now can also fine-tune the message digest by setting the *smime-sign-message-digest*[2] option, i.e., more backward compatible: set mime-cipher=des3 mime-sign-message-digest=MD5 More forward compatible set mime-cipher=aes256 mime-sign-message-digest=sha512 [1] https://www.sdaoden.eu/code-nail.html#429 [2] https://www.sdaoden.eu/code-nail.html#_437 Ciao! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640190 Title: S/MIME encryption broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/s-nail/+bug/1640190/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
