Public bug reported: If you install this package (fsharp) and monodevelop and install the Monodevelop F# add-in and create a project, it fails to build because it cannot find the FSharp.Core assembly. According to Monodevelop FAQ http://monodevelop.com/FAQ#Troubleshooting : "Bacause MonoDevelop does not look for assemblies in the GAC. On Mac and Linux, MonoDevelop uses pkg-config to locate installed packages and get the list of assemblies that each package provides. A package specifies this list of assemblies in a .pc file which has to be installed in the standard pkg-config directory." Other CIL packages in Ubuntu have these .pc files. Eg. the libgtk2.0 -cil-dev package installs the following files: /usr/lib/pkgconfig/gtk-sharp-2.0.pc /usr/lib/pkgconfig/gtk-dotnet-2.0.pc The assemblies for these libraries appear in Monodevelop as you might expect. [Bug 1075614] Re: Unity leaks memory even when desktop is idle, screen locked in 12.10
The idle memory leak (or bloat) seems to not occur if I close Firefox and Chromium when I leave the computer on over the weekend. It doesn't get any leaked (or bloated) memory back, it just stops growing while the system is idle. So, maybe something about Firefox or Chromium is causing the leak (or bloat). I'm using the stock Firefox and Chromium that are available through the normal Ubuntu repos. [Bug 1075614] Re: Unity leaks memory even when desktop is idle, screen locked in 12.10
I left Gnome Classic on over the weekend, I can confirm no memory leak or "bloat" at all. I'm assuming that the memory "bloat" is memory you keep a reference to, instead of losing the reference without freeing. It seems like memory bloat would be trivially easy to track down. Let the program run, eventually 99% of the allocated memory will be the "bloaty" bits, you should be able to answer the question: Where is it being allocated? Where are the references being kept? And then stop doing that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075614 Title: Unity leaks memory even when desktop is idle, screen locked in 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1075614/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 574886] [NEW] Apt has strange network errors when updating indexes.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt If I update the apt indices either in Synaptic Package Manager, Update Manager or from the command line, it fails to download a random selection of indexes (from 0 to 3, usually). The errors look like this: W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid- security/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'security.ubuntu.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname) W: Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/dists/lucid/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'archive.canonical.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname) E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. It is usually about two that fail, though sometimes more, and sometimes none. I just have a wireless router attached to a cable modem, standard home broadband. If I run 'update' a couple times, it will get everything. Apt has no problem downloading or installing packages. I can run 'ping' against these servers with zero packet loss. If I do a single update with errors and then try to install packages, sometimes it warns me that packages are unsigned. Originally, I had upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10, so to make sure it wasn't an upgrade problem, I backed up my personal files, and installed 10.04 from scratch.
