The silo does not help for me. Mir applications fail to connect, but not with the error described in this bug. Instead I get various errors about being unable to connect to the Mir server, which vary depending on the test client used. Further investigation shows connections to the Mir server are failing with the error "Error processing request: Invalid prompt session" when the proxy socket is used, but if the regular MIR_SOCKET value is forced the connection succeeds. [Bug 1671731] Re: [xmir] closing an app while a child window is opened leaves an Xmir process opened eating 100% CPU
This is simple to reproduce. The application has disappeared from the screen but continues to run. It looks like qtmir is closing the window (as requested) but no word gets out to the actual process (ie. there is no session management). I'm suspecting the Unity 8 lifecycle for desktops is not in place yet. Here's a snippet from $HOME/.cahe/upstart/unity8.log. [Bug 1672231] Re: Phablet couldn't create container for puritine apps
I'd recommend you *don't* use Terminal App for container creation. The error messages look like a problem in the archives to me. On that hardware the chroot back end is being used which run debootstrap from the http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports archives. The "Couldn't download package" errors sound like the index files at the archives do not match the actual packages somehow. The "Failed to create container" message indicates the debootstrap failed. I'm suspecting this problems is caused by the Vivid archives getting messed up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672231 Title: Phablet couldn't create container for puritine apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libertine/+bug/1672231/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Connect a client (using Libertine is the easiest way to do this). Attempt to use direct or indirect pointer input on the right side of the screen. The bug is it does nothing. [Regression Potential] This change affects only the XMir server. There is potential that XMir functionality is compromized but mainline x.org functionality is unaffected. This XMir patch update is pulled directly from Ubuntu current development release "Yakkety Yak" where it has been in production for more than 6 weeks without apparent regressions. [Other Info] The patch update also includes bugfixes for bug #1617925, bug #1617932, and bug #1591356. + + This patch differs from the patch in Ubuntu "Yakkety Yak" to compile + with Mir 0.21. [Bug 1622043] Re: Allow the user to move window controls to the right
Thank you for trying to make Ubuntu better. The window controls in Unity are on the left. It is not a setting, it's where the designers chose to place them. [Bug 1620324] Re: Virtual keyboard on Xapps using Qt4 don't work
Apps not using Qt5 or GTK+3 (and a handful of other toolkits) are unlikely to work with the OSK. The fundamental assumption in most X11 applications is that there is a physical keyboard attached to the system. In order to support redirecting OSK input through the Linux kernel uinput system for full support, we would either need to completely rewrite Maliit and considerable portions of the Unity 8 input stack or choose an alternative OSK for Desktop Applications. In either case we would lose the ability to position the keyboard on the screen appropriately for the content. I would suggest the simplest solution is to stuck with the original restriction which was that full desktop application support will require a physical keyboard and your experience will be reduced without meeting that requirement. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1620324 Title: Virtual keyboard on Xapps using Qt4 don't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1620324/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
