[Bug 1683277] Re: Mute key LED does not work on HP notebooks

2017-05-10 Thread Steven H
How can I ensure that this bug is also known to upstream? Will it get
reported automatically, or will this bug just sit here and should I
report it elsewhere myself?

Just tested under: 4.11.0-041100rc7-generic

The problem is the same. I have always had this problem under Linux, but
started using on these notebooks since kernel 4.8.

[Bug 1683277] [NEW] Mute key LED does not work on HP notebooks

2017-04-17 Thread Steven H
Public bug reported:

Description of problem:
The F6/mute key on the keyboard of HP notebooks often has a built in LED
indicator to show if the sound is muted. The LED state is never toggled. It
will just retain its state, even though the audio is succesfully muted/unmuted.

Tested with HP Envy 15 from 2015. HP Stream 11 from 2015 and HP Stream
11 from 2016.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press mute key on HP laptop

Actual results:
Mute state in software toggles, LED in mute key does not.

Expected results:
Mute state in software and LED in mute key toggle.

Additional info:
This happens on kernel 4.8, 4.9 and 4.10. I have not tested any other versions.

[Bug 1675777] [NEW] X.org and wayland unstable, nouveau spamming kernel log

2017-03-24 Thread Steven H
Public bug reported:

I'm having issues since updating to 17.04 beta. Both wayland and x.org
are very unstable. I noticed that my kern.log includes the following
line about 100 times per second:

I'm not sure if my problems are related but at the very least this
spamming shouldn't happen.

Also having this same problem, with HP Envy 15

Using latest firmware. Connection drops after a while of use, pages just
stop loading, no indication the connection has dropped. Disabling and
enabling the wifi fixes the issue.

[Bug 1608083] [NEW] Synaptics trackpad doesn't have INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD set, even though it should

2016-07-30 Thread Steven H
Public bug reported:

INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD should be set to indicate that my trackpad is a
clickpad, but it is not. The problem can be worked around by tweaking
the X.org configuration in the following way:

In X.org I use the following configuration in:
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "touchpad catchall"
Driver "synaptics"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
Option "ClickPad" "true"
[..]

EndSection

However, as Wayland's libinput does not have this option I run into issues.
For example right click doesn't work, or drag and drop with pressing with one
finger and moving with another.

The trackpad should be automatically recognized as a clickpad.

[Bug 1451233] Re: 10ec:b723 [Lenovo B5400] Realtek RTL8723BE drops connection until reboot

2016-03-26 Thread Steven H
I have this issue too on an HP Stream 11 (also uses RTL8723BE). For me
the workaround setting fwlps=0 also seems to help. This is on 15.10 and
16.04 daily.

What I also experience is that sometimes after waking from sleep (about
1 in 10 times) the wifi will be in a complete unusable state, where it
cannot even see any networks.

RE: [Bug 120163] Re: extremely slow log on with serial-usb bridge

2007-12-06 Thread Steven H
Problem still exists I get around it by letting the computer boot-up
completely before plugging in the usb hub and serial converter.

Thanks

[Bug 120163] extremely slow log on with serial-usb bridge

2007-06-13 Thread Steven H
Public bug reported:

Not a serious problem but if I use my prolific usb to serial bridge in
my usb hub boot up takes about 5 minutes. Both the hub and the convertor
don't cause any hassles if used independantly. The system gets stuck in
a loop and keeps searching for more usb nodes when configured like this.
