[Bug 1819574] [NEW] Software Boutique installs outdated Brave browser
Public bug reported: Welcome Center version 17.10.26 (installed from snap 17.10.26-d049dff rev 220). Brave has updated their repository and package names, the current entry in the software boutique installs a very old version that includes a warning at the top that the browser has been superseded. [Bug 198724] Re: [amd64] partimage not synced or build
That problem was fixed some time ago. The issue is all explained at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=572641 partimage is blacklisted in Debian, however they also have a binary available (created through a different process than the one Ubuntu uses). Ubuntu has it blacklisted for the arch because Debian does, thus Ubuntu's build system does not grab the source code and compile a binary for the arch. -- [amd64] partimage not synced or build https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 428276] Re: wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala
From the packages listed on your Hardware check I did not see linux- restricted-modules. This package should contain the firmware needed for your card to work, the driver should be included in the kernel already but is non-functional without the firmware. There is a good chance that you had to install this package when you installed Jaunty as well, probably through the Hardware Preferences panel. Please check if adding the package fixes the problem. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New = Incomplete -- wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428276 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 428276] Re: wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala
Also, it looks like the drivers were dropped in the Karmic kernel due to little use and questionable sources, see: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu- karmic.git;a=commit;h=492a320431f81088443608d61f739f4f2c207d51 In which case this isn't a bug at all. -- wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428276 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 428276] Re: wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala
Karmic kernel is referring to the Linux kernel as packaged by Ubuntu for Karmic. It is a customized version of the Linux kernel, most distributions release their own customized versions. The acx100 driver you need for your card is not actually part of the Linux kernel, it was conveniently included in the kernel with previous releases but removed for the mentioned reasons. It is developed by a third party. I am going to mark this as invalid as it appears the lack of a driver is by design due to questions with the source code. I would not expect this to be different with the released version of Karmic, although you are free to download and compile the driver and install it manually yourself if you are not worried about the code. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428276 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is it actually init calling it, or gnome-session? The fast-user-switch applet uses gnome-session to shutdown, and it appears gnome-session uses consolekit to do so. [Bug 372571] Re: evolution stopped working after recent updates.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). If clicking the icon ni the menu bar does not open Evolution, please run the command evolution (without quotation marks) in a terminal window and post the terminal output, along with the other requested items (and anything else that may assist in diagnosing the problem). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 365823 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365823 Good day, As I responded to your email message, the purpose of these bug reports is primarily to alert the developers. Users are encouraged to search for bug reports because, in finding the report and the work being done to fix it (and exactly what was done that made it a bug), they may be able to find a work around. It is not intended to be a knowledge base necessarily, and users searching for an issue may often find answers such as Fixed in new version, which doesn't tell them how to fix it at the moment. I have updated the description of the primary bug to better reflect that any directory may be affected by the bug. This should hopefully assist users with searching for the issue. If users are mentioning similar symptoms through the support mechanisms, it may not be a bad idea to comment It sounds like you may be affected by bug 369986, here is how to fix it:, this is a relatively common response. If the issue comes up enough, there is a knowledge base in the Answers system where you may put the exact steps, but I don't think it is going to be extremely common (at least, I don't think users will notice much if it is, since usually the / directory ends up with new ownership). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 369751 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369751 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have filed a request for sync bug (which I will mark this as a duplicate of) to ask that the newer version of opencascade is pulled from Debian and into Ubuntu. Please be aware that this package, if accepted, will be destined for the next release, Karmic Koala. In order to ensure the Ubuntu system remains stable, updates to a stable release are kept to a minimum and are generally for bug fixes and security issues. If and when the opencascade package is updated from Debian you may ask that it is backported to Jaunty. Steps and information may be viewed at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports#How%20to%20request%20new%20packages If you feel you need to update and are willing to use a completely unsupported and generally untested package (it builds, it installs, it removes), I have uploaded this package to my PPA at https://launchpad.net/~stupendoussteve/+archive/ppa - If you do decide to use this package I suggest you set up the PPA in your apt sources (temporarily), rather than downloading the .deb files themselves, as this will ensure the package manager installs required dependencies. Please note many of the names of the binaries have changed from the current stable (opencascade-tools has been split, many of the packages now include a -6.3.0 suffix), because of this I suggest you remove the stable packages beforehand. The package version is such that if Ubuntu releases an official package of the same version, it will be updated to their package.
