[Bug 875343] Re: Stuck at Saving installed packages... when using a custom /var

2013-06-17 Thread Stuart Shelton
This problem still affects the 12.04 LTS distribution - with entirely
blank filesystems (formatted with custom options) the installer did not
progress past Saving installed packages when left over the weekend.

Dropping to the shell and creating a 'var' directory on the intended
root filesystem by hand and restarting the process allowed the installer
to progress past this stage.

[Bug 885146] [NEW] Archive Manager fails to handle password-protected ZIP files

2011-11-02 Thread Stuart Shelton
Public bug reported:

Upon trying to open a password-protect ZIP file in Archive Manager/file-roller,
I'm correctly prompted for a password. However, on pressing enter/clicking
OK, I then get an error dialog stating:

An error occurred while extracting files.
 Command Line Output
error: must give decryption password with -P option

... on trying again without quitting file-roller, I'm not prompted for a
password - it simply shows the same dialog. If I deliberately enter the
*wrong* password, then the Password required dialog immediately re-
opens - so it's not a mis-typed password issue.

[Bug 885146] Re: Archive Manager fails to handle password-protected ZIP files

2011-11-02 Thread Stuart Shelton
Other files succeed, though. Two thoughts about the password for the
problematic file:

* It started with a hypen;
* It contained a  character.

... so is this a case of insufficient quoting/guarding?

[Bug 884191] [NEW] Disable touchpad while typing doesn't disable Synaptics touchpad on Lenovo ThinkPad T410i on Ubunutu 11.x

2011-10-31 Thread Stuart Shelton
Public bug reported:

In the Mouse and Touchpad application, Disable touchpad while typing
is ticked - however, this seems to have no effect. Catching the
trackpad whilst typing sends the cursor ricocheting across the screen.

Expected behaviour:
Disable touchpad while typing does indeed disable the touchpad within {x}
seconds of a key-press occurring - or, if this functionality isn't available
with this hardware, the option should be greyed-out/disabled.

Actual behaviour:
The Disable touchpad while typing check-box seems to have no effect on the
system - there is no noticeable change of behaviour no matter what the state of
the control.
