[Bug 436792] Re: [ubuntu karmic] mythtv frontend inactivates sound
When you start mythfrontend without the export EXPERIMENTALLY_ALLOW_PULSE_AUDIO=1 quirk, the second line of the output is AudioPulseUtil: Suspend Success and when you quit, the one before last is AudioPulseUtil: Resume Success So, in fact, mythfrontend is (successfully) suspending pulseaudio, which might explain why we don't get any sound after. Le lundi 29 octobre 2007 à 16:54 +, Sebastien Bacher a écrit : the current libgnomeui-common has no gconf-schemas call, are you sure you were using the Ubuntu version? can you attach the file to the bug? Well, the problem was not, as I understand it, with the current version but with the previous one, libgnomeui_common_2.20.0_0ubuntu1, which, at removal, was making a gconf-schema call. My Ubuntu install was made in july, and apart from universe and multiverse, the deposits I have enabled are security, backports, proposed and commercial from ubuntu, and wine, medibuntu and opera. I don't think libgnomeui comes from one of those last three, but might be mistaken. As for sending the file, I had to do an apt-get source clean before upgrading, for disk space reasons, so I don't have any copy left of the package. I genuinely think it was the ubuntu one, but I can be mistaken. -- libgnomeui-common_2.20.1-0ubuntu1 won't install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156555 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 156555] Re: libgnomeui-common_2.20.1-0ubuntu1 won't install
Well, fwiw, here is how I solved the problem The version I had installed was libgnomeui_common_2.20.0_0ubuntu1. For some reason, the removal script was trying to do a gconf-schema /usr/share/gconf/schemas/libgnomeui-apport-gtk.schema. The problem is that libgnomeui-apport-gtk.schemas has been removed since libgnomeui-2.19.1-0ubuntu1. So I downloaded libgnomeui-2.19.0-0ubuntu1, cp'ed libgnomeui-apport-gtk and all went well. Not very clean, but I didn't find any better way I still think that having the removal script of libgnomeui_common_2.20.0_0ubuntu1 looking for a file which didn't exist anymore since a previous version looks like a bug, but who am I to tell ? -- libgnomeui-common_2.20.1-0ubuntu1 won't install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156555 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

So what you did is you recompiled alsa so that Ubuntu is effectively using the previous version of alsa while tricking the update manager into thinking Ubuntu is using 15? Is that what you did? If, so, I suppose the new updates won't over write your compiled version of 14 (which externally seems to be 15) until 16 comes out. Am I way off here? No, I mean exactly the opposite : Ubuntu is using version 1.0.14 and you have to compile 1.0.15, which works, at least here. But the wiki article speaks of version 1.0.14, which is the reason of my quite unclear previous assertion. Download and compile 1.0.15. And yes, unless they bump the alsa version or someone patches 1.0.14 to work around the bug, you'll have to recompile at least alsa driver for every kernel update... -- No Sound from Speakers, but Headphones work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156013 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: When trying to install libgnomeui-common_2.20.1-0ubuntu1 from gutsy- proposed, I get the following error message : E: /var/cache/apt/archives/libgnomeui-common_2.20.1.1-0ubuntu1_all.deb: il n'y a pas de script dans cette nouvelle version du paquet - abandon rough translation : there is no script in this new version of the package. OK. So it's definitely an alsa bug. I recompiled the latest alsa (1.0.15) following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto (just substitute 15 to 14 in the version number used there), and sound works perfetly : from speakers when no headphone plugged, from headphones when plugged. [Bug 156359] Xmms2 doesn't read aac files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xmms2 Well, from the changelog it seems to be a feature rather than a bug, but xmms2-plugin-faad isn't available. I can understand the multiverse/universe problem, but nevertheless, this is a bug, as I guess I'm not the only one who has a few aac music files hanging around, that I don't want to convert to mp3 for quality loss reason, nor to flac because I need them on my ipod.
