[Bug 1280794] Re: Can't change default "Open with" application

2014-02-17 Thread Suor
I managed to break it again.

Here are the steps:
1. Delete "~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list".
2. Set VLC as default player for .avi files through nautilus.
3. Goto System Settings -> Details -> Default applications and set VLC player
to open video files.
4. Go back to nautilus and try to change default application for .avi files.
Get the bug.

It's worth noting that "~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list" is
updated in step 4, but changes do not work.

[Bug 1280794] [NEW] Can't change default "Open with" application

2014-02-16 Thread Suor
Public bug reported:

I am on Ubuntu 13.10 using nautilus 1:3.8.2-0ubuntu2.2.

I am trying to change default application to open .avi files. I right-
click an .avi file select "Properties", go to "Open With". There is a
default application there (banshee) and recommended (VLC media player).
I select VLC media player and click "Set as default" button, selection
jumps back to banshee, "Set as default" button disabled and nothing else
happens. Nautilus still opens .avi files with banshee.

Re: [Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10

2013-12-05 Thread Suor
Stable old system even with new applications is not an option for many
developers. Cause of old kernel, standard libraries and such.

For example, my touchpad won't work on older kernels and many other
hardware in newer laptops. I once struggled for substantial amount of time
to compile node.js on CentOS cause of old stdlib. It's also much harder to
install new versions of Python, Perl, Ruby, gcc on older distributions.

And anyway, proposing to not upgrade to stable release to not get severe
bugs sounds very strange.

[Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage

2013-10-27 Thread Suor
I found another simple method to make unity-panel-service eat 100% CPU:
1. Open Sublime Text 3.
2. Switch keyboard layout fast many times.

Keyboard indicator works at first, but then starts to lag behind and
stops switching (keyboard layout is still switched, so it's only
indicator). While indicator hangs unity-panel-service eats 100% CPU.

This started after 13.10 upgrade.
