The problem is located in /etc/default/snmpd. It seems that some snmp-
module does not get loaded. If you remove the -I entry it works fine, at
least if all mibs are installed correctly.

This bug occurred to me today for the first time. Just 2 days ago my

Today, I pulled the plug and - BAM - netbook just turnd off. The battery
was fine. I could run the netbook for 2 to 4 hours without a problem,
and now the battery appears to be dead (in 12.04 too, which I booted in
some minutes ago).

So...is there anything I can do to bring my battery back to life?

[Bug 835699] Re: Unity window switcher takes over key

2011-08-28 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Cycling through windows has always been with +Tab, so I see no
reason why that should change.

Btw. when pressing not only the switcher shows up, but it shows up
with a preview of a window. I don't know if this happens because of
altered settings in ccsm, but it was working like it should with
previous version(s) of unity, so I don't think that there's a problem
with my settings.

[Bug 640100] Re: Maverick fails to wake up on Samsung N150

2011-05-04 Thread Susanne Schlensog
I configured gnome-power-manager to go into suspend after 30 minutes of
idle state. Most of the time, it doesn't work at all and the N150 runs
until the battery is drained. The other times, it goes into suspend but
fails to wake up again. I don't know how many times I had to hard reset.

Instructions on #156 do NOT work with an up-to-date Natty install on a
Samsung N150 with samsung-tools and samsung-backlight. Performing the
steps in #156 leads to a non-adjustable backlight - else suspend isn't
working, neither with instructions or without. I can say, it was partly
working before the release of Natty.

With the latest kernel update, resuming from suspend works (as does adjusting
brightness via Fn-keys). BUT: Hibernates disappears as an option from the
indicator. I don't care much about that, though, since suspend/resume is much
more important on a netbook.

You may change this bug report to "fixed", but I don't know how much more
kernel updates will come until stable release and if there will be regressions.

[Bug 705044] [NEW] Samsung N150 doesn't resume from suspend

2011-01-19 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu Natty 11.04 32-bit (fully up-to-date)
Kernel: 2.6.37.12.14

When going into suspend via menu or by gnome-power-manager, my Samsung
N150 doesn't resume. The screen remains black, no hard disk activity. I
have to power off/on to restart the system. This also happens with
Maverick's default kernel. See following bug report, as it actually
describes the same problem, just with another kernel version:

[Bug 702032] [NEW] Hitting Enter does not "activate" first (and only) user

2011-01-12 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Release: Ubuntu 11.04, 32-bit
GDM: 2.32.0-0ubuntu3

Well, the summary tells it all. When GDM comes up after booting, I
expect the first user (which is the only one) to be chosen, if I hit the
Enter key, but in doesn't. I have to click the user icon explicitly. And
while I don't have a problem with that, it's against accessability. And
against the usual behaviour.

I'm using an up-to-date Natty install, and the problem ocurred for a
while now. I remember this being a problem in one or more dev releases
before (was it Lucid? I can't quite remember...). This definately needs
to be fixed.

[Bug 640100] Re: Maverick fails to wake up on Samsung N150

2010-10-31 Thread Susanne Schlensog
I had no luck with 2.6.36. And I don't think it's related to sound
activity. It even freezes with sound all muted. I'm sort of getting
tired with this regression. From what I've read in the past days, a lot
of people with very different hardware suffer from resume bugs. No idea
if and how they are related but this is a really bad thing. Users with
laptops/netbooks rely on suspend/hibernate.

I'm now running a 2.6.34 kernel from maverick, and it's working as
expected - even with samsung-tools and samsung backlight. But not
getting security and bug fixes via update makes me feel a little
insecure.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

After resuming from suspend, gwibber just doesn't do anything. It
doesn't refresh, it doesn't send messages, it doesn't quit neither with
Strg+Q nor with Alt+F4. I have to kill gwibber, then starting via Me-

[Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips

2010-05-05 Thread Susanne Rekatzky
I agree with most comments here. An LTS release is NOT the place for
radical changes. An LTS release that slows down my workflow is indeed a
bad decision, because I have to stick with it for 3 long years (if I'm
in need of a stable release). Mark, don't get me wrong: I appreciate new
ideas about usability and reducing clutter, and I agree that sometimes
things just needed to be done. But still...coming up with UI changes
(like buttons on the left...and so on) and usability changes (like
indicators without tooltips or indicators that burden me with scrolling
through menus to letting me perform a certain action) is a bit too much
- especially for an LTS release.

You may think that we will get used to it, and maybe we will. Maybe we
don't see the big picture behind all this. But maybe you're just a
little bit to rough with the users and...maybe a bit too eager. Please
consider what we are thinking about it. You're SABDFL, it's still in
your hands.

Hi,

yes, booting with the original image is working. There is nothing else
to report really, I downloaded the image from the website, installed it
on the laptop, an older acer Aspire 3000 and everything works fine until
I install the updates. I tried not installing any Xserver...packages and
this seems to be working until now.

recommended packages, the system seems to boot up but the login screen
does not appear and the screen remains black. I expected the login

[Bug 435638] [NEW] Openbox workspace settings are ignored

2009-09-23 Thread Susanne Rekatzky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I've set up 3 desktops (workspaces) in openbox. After re-login, only one
shows up (on tint2 panel). This is not happening with slim display
manager so I'm sure it's a problem with gdm.

gdm: 2.28.0-0ubuntu3
openbox: 3.4.7.2-4
tint2: 0.7.svn.rev174-1 (from killeroid ppa)

It happens with tint2 from ubuntu repo, too. I just installed a newer
version to find out, if it was a tint2 problem.

I have the same error (can open open office writer directly, can't open

[Bug 42754] Re: Installation hung at "instal partition"

Hi,
I tried to install the most recent Version of XUbuntu ( 8.04) – like Stephen on
an old IBM Think Pad, and I experienced the same problem he had with version
5.10.
After choosing "manual" in the partition menue the installation stops at 40%.
The logfile partman shows the correct partitioning of the disk though.

Does anyone have an update on this issue?

Thanks

[Bug 18645] Re: apt does not handle HTTP redirects

2008-01-30 Thread Susanne Oberhauser
Some packagers use the opensuse build server to cross distro build and
provide packages for Linux (all distros). The build server simply uses
redirects to point to mirrored repos.

As long as main apt won't get http redirects we can also provide a
patched apt, but it would be nicer to have that feature 'upstream'.
