[Bug 640100] Re: Maverick fails to wake up on Samsung N150
I configured gnome-power-manager to go into suspend after 30 minutes of idle state. Most of the time, it doesn't work at all and the N150 runs until the battery is drained. The other times, it goes into suspend but fails to wake up again. I don't know how many times I had to hard reset. Instructions on #156 do NOT work with an up-to-date Natty install on a Samsung N150 with samsung-tools and samsung-backlight. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Release: Ubuntu 11.04, 32-bit GDM: 2.32.0-0ubuntu3 Well, the summary tells it all. When GDM comes up after booting, I expect the first user (which is the only one) to be chosen, if I hit the Enter key, but in doesn't. I have to click the user icon explicitly. And while I don't have a problem with that, it's against accessability. And against the usual behaviour. I'm using an up-to-date Natty install, and the problem ocurred for a while now. [Bug 640100] Re: Maverick fails to wake up on Samsung N150
I had no luck with 2.6.36. And I don't think it's related to sound activity. It even freezes with sound all muted. I'm sort of getting tired with this regression. From what I've read in the past days, a lot of people with very different hardware suffer from resume bugs. No idea if and how they are related but this is a really bad thing. Users with laptops/netbooks rely on suspend/hibernate. I'm now running a 2.6.34 kernel from maverick, and it's working as expected - even with samsung-tools and samsung backlight. [Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips
I agree with most comments here. An LTS release is NOT the place for radical changes. An LTS release that slows down my workflow is indeed a bad decision, because I have to stick with it for 3 long years (if I'm in need of a stable release). Mark, don't get me wrong: I appreciate new ideas about usability and reducing clutter, and I agree that sometimes things just needed to be done. But still...coming up with UI changes (like buttons on the left...and so on) and usability changes (like indicators without tooltips or indicators that burden me with scrolling through menus to letting me perform a certain action) is a bit too much - especially for an LTS release. You may think that we will get used to it, and maybe we will. Maybe we don't see the big picture behind all this. But maybe you're just a little bit to rough with the users and...maybe a bit too eager. Please consider what we are thinking about it. [Bug 238366] Re: open office crashes on start (hardy)
I have the same error (can open open office writer directly, can't open a file in nautilus, firefox etc.). I have found out that it seems to be the package "openoffice.org-gtk" causing this. <- Deinstalling it gives me an ugly but working openoffice. -- open office crashes on start (hardy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238366 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 42754] Re: Installation hung at "instal partition"
Hi, I tried to install the most recent Version of XUbuntu ( 8.04) – like Stephen on an old IBM Think Pad, and I experienced the same problem he had with version 5.10. After choosing "manual" in the partition menue the installation stops at 40%. The logfile partman shows the correct partitioning of the disk though. Does anyone have an update on this issue? [Bug 18645] Re: apt does not handle HTTP redirects
Some packagers use the opensuse build server to cross distro build and provide packages for Linux (all distros). The build server simply uses redirects to point to mirrored repos. As long as main apt won't get http redirects we can also provide a patched apt, but it would be nicer to have that feature 'upstream'.
