[Bug 838543] Re: False battery warning +suspend

2011-12-27 Thread Susanne Schlensog
This bug occurred to me today for the first time. Just 2 days ago my
Samsung N150 netbook was just running fine with an up-to-date Precise.
Today, I pulled the plug and - BAM - netbook just turnd off. The battery
was fine. I could run the netbook for 2 to 4 hours without a problem,
and now the battery appears to be dead (in 12.04 too, which I booted in
some minutes ago).

So...is there anything I can do to bring my battery back to life?

[Bug 835699] Re: Unity window switcher takes over alt key

2011-08-28 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Cycling through windows has always been with Alt+Tab, so I see no
reason why that should change.

Btw. when pressing Alt not only the switcher shows up, but it shows up
with a preview of a window. I don't know if this happens because of
altered settings in ccsm, but it was working like it should with
previous version(s) of unity, so I don't think that there's a problem
with my settings.

2011-05-04 Thread Susanne Schlensog
I configured gnome-power-manager to go into suspend after 30 minutes of
idle state. Most of the time, it doesn't work at all and the N150 runs
until the battery is drained. The other times, it goes into suspend but
fails to wake up again. I don't know how many times I had to hard reset.
This is very bad!

2011-05-01 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Instructions on #156 do NOT work with an up-to-date Natty install on a
Samsung N150 with samsung-tools and samsung-backlight. Performing the
steps in #156 leads to a non-adjustable backlight - else suspend isn't
working, neither with instructions or without. I can say, it was partly
working before the release of Natty.

[Bug 705044] Re: Samsung N150 doesn't resume from suspend

2011-01-30 Thread Susanne Schlensog
With the latest kernel update, resuming from suspend works (as does adjusting
brightness via Fn-keys). BUT: Hibernates disappears as an option from the
indicator. I don't care much about that, though, since suspend/resume is much
more important on a netbook.

You may change this bug report to fixed, but I don't know how much more
kernel updates will come until stable release and if there will be regressions.

[Bug 705044] [NEW] Samsung N150 doesn't resume from suspend

2011-01-19 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu Natty 11.04 32-bit (fully up-to-date)
Kernel: 2.6.37.12.14

When going into suspend via menu or by gnome-power-manager, my Samsung
N150 doesn't resume. The screen remains black, no hard disk activity. I
have to power off/on to restart the system. This also happens with
Maverick's default kernel. See following bug report, as it actually
describes the same problem, just with another kernel version:

[Bug 702032] [NEW] Hitting Enter does not activate first (and only) user

2011-01-12 Thread Susanne Schlensog
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Release: Ubuntu 11.04, 32-bit
GDM: 2.32.0-0ubuntu3

Well, the summary tells it all. When GDM comes up after booting, I
expect the first user (which is the only one) to be chosen, if I hit the
Enter key, but in doesn't. I have to click the user icon explicitly. And
while I don't have a problem with that, it's against accessability. And
against the usual behaviour.

I'm using an up-to-date Natty install, and the problem ocurred for a
while now. I remember this being a problem in one or more dev releases
before (was it Lucid? I can't quite remember...). This definately needs
to be fixed.

[Bug 640100] Re: Maverick fails to wake up on Samsung N150

2010-10-31 Thread Susanne Schlensog
I had no luck with 2.6.36. And I don't think it's related to sound
activity. It even freezes with sound all muted. I'm sort of getting
tired with this regression. From what I've read in the past days, a lot
of people with very different hardware suffer from resume bugs. No idea
if and how they are related but this is a really bad thing. Users with
laptops/netbooks rely on suspend/hibernate.

I'm now running a 2.6.34 kernel from maverick, and it's working as
expected - even with samsung-tools and samsung backlight. But not
getting security and bug fixes via update makes me feel a little
insecure.
