[Bug 1565328] Re: 16.04 installation - grub efi fails to install on MacBookPro (efi)

2017-10-21 Thread TBerk
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1062623 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1062623

I am not quite the same as I am not using Cryptography nor LVM volumes
but in my case I am attempting to single boot a Macbook Pro using the
uEFI x64 version of Ubuntu Studio from a 4G flash drive.

I choose the 'Something Else' option and attempt to create separate
partitions for '/' and 'HOME' mount points; all seems well until the
error "grub-efi-amd64-signed failed ...".

I have tried to create leading FAT32 partitions ahead of the OS space,
all for naught.

If this bug report I'm adding too is too specific for "Created luks
encrypted partition with LVM volumes in it" reasons I'll be looking for
a more generic one to join.

[Bug 1650822] [NEW] Failed while trying Install onto 8, 1 Apple Macbook Pro

2016-12-17 Thread TBerk
Public bug reported:

It is likely a problem with the Partition Type (MSDOS) rather than GPT (for use
with EUFI). I am retrying the Install of Ubuntu Studio 16.10, from a LiveUSB
drive, and using a hardwired Internet connection, after having wiped the
Macbook's Hard Drive and created a new mapping w/ GPT.

Ultimately I shall try to create a dual boot situation with MacOS and
Ubuntu Studio.

[Bug 1339980] Re: dvdstyler fails to burn in avconv: av_interleaved_write_frame(): Invalid argument

2015-03-21 Thread TBerk
I'd like to append this with a big 'Me Too!';

I have a freshly installed Ubuntu Studio 14.04 OS, added restricted and
a number of common apps and repositories listed on most "what to do
after you install..." list, like I always have, but the first time I set
about actually creating a DVD on _this_ particular system I found the
error when either burning 'just generate...' or 'create ISO'.

Searches led me to this bug report, I've used Jesse's work-around and as
I type this, I am also generating an ISO in the background.

Please let me know how i might contribute any info req'd to help pin
down the cause and perhaps a solution.

While I'd added myself to bug:

This particular bug entry actually better describes my experience as it
has the seg_fault near the same place as my own and is in a 11.x version
of Ubuntu.

In my case it ends like this:

Segmentation fault

[Bug 672298] [NEW] OS won't SHUTDOWN, it cycles and restarts instead

2010-11-07 Thread TBerk
Public bug reported:

If I choose Shutdown fromthe Menu or use any number of 'shutdown'
commands from the terminal the system will act like it is shutting down
but once it closes out the OS it seems to cycle the power supply and
restart itself.

(This has happened in previous versions as well but I am at a loss to
document exact ver numbers at this time.)

It wasn't doing this during testing of 10.10 beta.

It is very likely this bug has already been reported.

[Bug 108623] Re: totem isn't buffering correctly

2009-11-18 Thread TBerk

Just a follow up to my previous post; as you can see here in Bug Reporting and
over on the Ubuntu Forums as well- this in not an isolated problem.

Perhaps those who are responsible for shagging these bugs might have the
professional courtesy to recommend a competing app/util that will behave
as expected/intended. That way we could retire Totem altogether.

Well, as it turns out two (important?) things have happened:

1) I have upgraded to the released version of Ubuntu 9.04 and

2) I have NOT been able to reproduce the problem.

I do not currently have 'kedeedu; installed either. (I'm going to look
into it but I don't see a good reason, yet, why I should.

Thank you, from my pov, this bug isn't _mine_ anymore. Please take the
necessary next step, which might include closing it in launchpad. (Or
should I?)

Thx,
TBerk

I'd like to add:

Why, once the whole file has been streamed to completion, can't I hit
PLAY and have it run from a local cache? What I experience is the whole
file streams from the source all over again.

[Bug 108623] Re: totem isn't buffering correctly

2009-04-27 Thread TBerk

I'm somewhat new to these particulars but not computing (and Quicktime MOV
files) in general.

I just added a request for info (w/ a little more end user explanation)
over on
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+question/7805 .

What I'd like to see happen would be to be able to hit the PAUSE button
and have the streaming continue on until either/or the whole
file/whatever large chunk are on the local drive and can then be played
without hickups.

With some direction, I'd be glad to run commands, test, report,
whatever, as needed to help fix this.

Bottom line? Buffering is Broke.
