[Bug 1565328] Re: 16.04 installation - grub efi fails to install on MacBookPro (efi)
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1062623 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1062623 I am not quite the same as I am not using Cryptography nor LVM volumes but in my case I am attempting to single boot a Macbook Pro using the uEFI x64 version of Ubuntu Studio from a 4G flash drive. I choose the 'Something Else' option and attempt to create separate partitions for '/' and 'HOME' mount points; all seems well until the error "grub-efi-amd64-signed failed ...". I have tried to create leading FAT32 partitions ahead of the OS space, all for naught. If this bug report I'm adding too is too specific for "Created luks encrypted partition with LVM volumes in it" reasons I'll be looking for a more generic one to join. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1565328 Title: 16.04 installation - grub efi fails to install on MacBookPro (efi) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1565328/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1650822] [NEW] Failed while trying Install onto 8, 1 Apple Macbook Pro
Public bug reported: It is likely a problem with the Partition Type (MSDOS) rather than GPT (for use with EUFI). I am retrying the Install of Ubuntu Studio 16.10, from a LiveUSB drive, and using a hardwired Internet connection, after having wiped the Macbook's Hard Drive and created a new mapping w/ GPT. [Bug 1339980] Re: dvdstyler fails to burn in avconv: av_interleaved_write_frame(): Invalid argument
I'd like to append this with a big 'Me Too!'; I have a freshly installed Ubuntu Studio 14.04 OS, added restricted and a number of common apps and repositories listed on most "what to do after you install..." list, like I always have, but the first time I set about actually creating a DVD on _this_ particular system I found the error when either burning 'just generate...' or 'create ISO'. Searches led me to this bug report, I've used Jesse's work-around and as I type this, I am also generating an ISO in the background. Just a follow up to my previous post; as you can see here in Bug Reporting and over on the Ubuntu Forums as well- this in not an isolated problem. I'm somewhat new to these particulars but not computing (and Quicktime MOV files) in general. I just added a request for info (w/ a little more end user explanation) over on https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+question/7805 . What I'd like to see happen would be to be able to hit the PAUSE button and have the streaming continue on until either/or the whole file/whatever large chunk are on the local drive and can then be played without hickups. With some direction, I'd be glad to run commands, test, report, whatever, as needed to help fix this. Bottom line? Buffering is Broke.
