[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-10-30 Thread Takahani
- Download NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.09-pkg1.run (or the other one if you're
running a 64 bit system) to your home folder (/home/simon/ for me)
- switch to pty1 (CTRL+ALT+F1)
- sudo service kdm stop (will kill X server) (or gdm if you are running gnome)
- sudo sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.09-pkg1.run
- say yes to everything (will compile nvidia kernel module)
- sudo reboot now (reboot now !!)

And that should be enough, login and check that glxinfo | grep direct
says YES

Worked for me, kubuntu 8.10 32 bits, old geforce TI 4200
Good luck !
Simon

[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-10-30 Thread Takahani
Yo,
I think you need the package linux-headers-2.6.27-7 (that's his ubuntu name).
Also check that you don't have some old kernel headers left like 2.6.24 or
something. But i'm not sure of this :)

[Bug 183715] Re: Kopete crashes desktop when trying to view incoming message

2008-09-17 Thread Takahani
Same here,

Ubuntu 8.04 64 bits
Dual core Xeon
nvidia quadro 4500 FX
Compiz fusion

I've noticed it also happen when I want to rise Amarok and click on its icon,
X sometimes crash
So it may have something to do with KDE inside gnome, the task bar /
compiz-fuzion and nvidia, probably quite difficult to fix.

Where can we find some information about the reason of X crashing ? Some log
file ?
It's a very annoying bug

Thxs in advance
Simon

PS A simple work-around is to disable bubbles in Kopete 8-|

[Bug 231625] Re: Amarok crashes X session

2008-09-17 Thread Takahani
I can confirm this bug to,
Ubuntu 8.04 64 bits
nvidia quadro FX 4500
compiz running

Re-install amarok didn't helped for me.

It only happen randomly, but is still here since 2 or 3 ubuntu release.

In my opinion,it is related to this bug :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kopete/+bug/183715
since it also happen for another kde application which is in the system tray,
on a 64 bit system with compiz running and an nvidia card.

Anyone knows a workaround ?
It's a very annoying bug ... You just want to switch to a new song and
everything crash, loose all your work, GRR

2008-04-07 Thread Takahani
Hi,

Also experiencing this, but only on my home computer (hardy 32 bit, Athon
2000+, nvidia 4200 ti). At work (hardy 64 bit, Bi-Xeon, nvidia quadro fx 4500),
no pb, with nearly exactly the same installation. I can see the two/three lines
above too
I'll try reproduce the bug as you said.

[Bug 187918] Re: [Hardy] KDE4 logon failure: 'startkde: Could not start D-Bus. Check your installation.'

2008-04-01 Thread Takahani
Hello, I'm currently having this pb

- Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 amd64 updated
- using current version of kde 4 on hardy (how can i know the version ?)
- video card : nvidia quadro 4500, compiz enabled

On an other computer configured nearly in the same way except it's a 32
bit CPU, everything goes fine, and i can login without error

It's exactly the same problem as mentioned above

Sorry for my poor english,
